And there's not many of us that haven't been under sustained stress this year. Mismanaged, unaddressed stress is so bad for our hormones. All of them. Tense every muscle in your body while thinking about knocking your stressor on the head.....then relax.... You've not been able to move all day and now you're too tired to even contemplate a stroll? Spend 10 minutes before bed mindfully stretching.
22.01.2022 2-12 YEARS!!!! Perimenopause can be a decade of your life! For some, it's a decade of mood swings, rage, heavy periods, irregular periods, low libido, insomnia (the list goes on), often while also juggling ALL the roles we play. It's overwhelming!!! And we deserve better!... Stay tuned....this is becoming the focus of my practice. Education and support is REALLY needed in this area!! I'm currently working on some ideas to get that to you.

17.01.2022 A friend sent out a message asking for ideas for a daily chart of things to do for her young boys. Brilliant idea!! She was thinking along the lines of chores, things to feed the spirit, fun things etc. For me, a daily list just seems a little overwhelming at the moment but I was so inspired I did a little chart with my daughter on things we’d like to do in this next 2 months. Something to put on the fridge for a bit of inspiration.

11.01.2022 One thing that I'm grateful for with lockdown is the amount of classes that have gone online. Being a solo parent means that I haven't been able to attend classes at night, usually when all the cool stuff is on! So with everyone taking their classes online I'm in heaven. A class I've wanted to take for a long time has been Qi Gong, with my wonderful friend Belinda. And it was in Melbourne as well, so way out of the realm of possibility for me. 10.01.2022 Our human need for connection is real and fulfilling that is vital to our health. Even in Victoria, where we are in living under restrictions again, you can still go for walk with a friend. We may be needing to wear masks but just walking and being in the presence of a loving friend can lift our spirits enough to get through these difficult times.
09.01.2022 Our class room this afternoon as we ditch remote learning and embrace ‘child-led’ learning. For my family, I choose this time to be one of exploration, connection, and discovering interests, prioritising peace over productivity. Remote learning wasn’t working for us. It was the source of frustration and arguments. We’ll see how this way goes ....
09.01.2022 Brain Fog and Memory In our 40's, things can start to go a bit haywire as our bodies begin the transition to menopause. This transition can take 2-12 years!!! Yep, our hormones can be fluctuating (more than usual) for a decade!!! Some of the most common signs of this is brain fog and memory problems. It's not fun when you are forgetting important things or feeling anxious that you are going to forget something! Part of the problem is the natural decline of progesterone but no...t all is lost! Here are 3 tips that can make a BIG difference to brain fog and memory: 1/ Get enough good quality sleep! No pill or potion can replace sleep! How do you know you're getting enough sleep? You wake before your alarm feeling refreshed. 2/ Get as much out of your brain as possible - make lists, plan your day each morning, do a brain dump at night, meal plan, write EVERYTHING down in your diary. Take the pressure off your brain and ease your anxiety by writing everything down and LOOKING at it 3/ Add foods to your diet that are high in choline, an essential nutrient for the brain. These include egg yolks, liver, meats, fish (cod especially), kidney beans, potatoes with the skin on, brussels sprouts. 08.01.2022 I love this! It looks very similar to my daily ‘to do’ list. Being quarantined has allowed me to reassess my values and prioritise what’s important to me. And I’m ok with the priorities shifting and changing on a daily basis. I also acknowledge my frustrations, the biggest being the juggle of trying to work and parent simultaneously, but unlike in the past, I am not alone in this juggling act now. And that takes a lot of pressure off. ... High on my ‘to do’ lists are things that support my well-being - meditation, movement, eating well, spending time outdoors, and offering myself and others compassion and understanding as we each face our own difficulties and demons. I am so grateful for where I live, that I have a cosy home and yard, there is food in my cupboards, my income, at this stage, seems to be fairly stable and I get to hang out with the best 6 year old and small furry dog all day.
04.01.2022 9 years ago I finished my last exam, completing my degree to become a naturopath. So much has happened since then! I got married, had a baby, got divorced, moved a few times, celebrated, grieved, but through it all, I practised. I love being a naturopath! I love helping my clients. I find it all so fascinating. And I love that I never stop learning. ... Here is 2011 me. A lot less wrinkles and grey hairs!!
