06.01.2022 Why do I get Dark Photos? Looking at lots of dark and poorly lit HOCO (Homecoming) photos taken on social media yesterday, I thought it may be worth saying this; Phones just can’t deal with difficult lighting situations like high contrast. The Dark photo showed the real lighting conditions. This is where the correct fill flash on a DSLR can transform a photo by fixing a seemingly impossible lighting situation phone cameras just can’t deal with. The Dark Photo highlights the b...ackground, shadows on the subject .....The Light Photo highlights the subjects with the use of a fill flash with the correct distance and light exposure programmed. Use a professional to take special photos otherwise you will get dark photos. Or photos that didn’t quite work. ******The below photos are low resolution small files not suitable for large screen or printing****** DSLR High Res NEF files enable printing and editing. iPhone photos have very limited editing and printing options, blow them up to print and you get pixels. I was happy to take the (light) photos for the group yesterday, I offered for a few friends. I have done that two years in a row... but it made me realize people didn’t want to pay a Photographer because they can use their phones.
