20.01.2022 A COVID19 update - so many changes have occurred over the past four months, sometimes it is hard to keep up. YES! You can still get married - you just need to limit the number of guests, depending on where you are based and your venue. YES! Your marriage can still take place - you just need two witnesses aged over 18 and I can marry you. ... YES! You can still have a beautiful intimate ceremony to legalise your commitment and love for one another. Give me a call and we can start planning - you just need a month's notice. There are so many venues available for your small intimate wedding. I am also available for bookings if you would prefer to plan a bigger event for next year. Have fun planning.
16.01.2022 Today I said goodbye to a dear friend, Beryl Dearlove. I have known Beryl for nearly 40 years and we spent time over the last few years preparing her funeral. It came too soon and she will be greatly missed. I was the Celebrant for today's service, based on her choices in music, poems and her daughter read the eulogy Beryl wrote. Her family added to the service with their reflections and it was beautiful. Even though COVID19 impacted on the size of the service and the closeness of the people, it was a heartfelt and inspiring way to say farewell.
15.01.2022 Love! Are you ready to legalise your commitment to one another? Book now for October.
15.01.2022 I love the opportunity to enable families have their fur babies participate in their ceremony without worry. A great service.
14.01.2022 Welcome to the wonderful world of wedding planning. You can't get legally wed without your Celebrant (or Minister/Priest), so get reading and learn what is involved. I would love it if you are one of my couples who would like to comment or rate my services. I love the opportunity to meet couples and help them to plan their special day.
14.01.2022 I saw this and thought I would share...Sage is a lovely venue and would be nice for a small wedding.
14.01.2022 Life Celebrations - it is important to celebrate when we can. Don't let life slip away - time goes by so quickly. Just stop what you are doing, or if you are driving wait for the next red light - take a moment, take a deep breath in - and out - and think of something wonderful or someone special, then go on with your day.
12.01.2022 Welcome to Monday. Just think of all the celebrations that next year will bring!Welcome to Monday. Just think of all the celebrations that next year will bring!
11.01.2022 Tomorrow is the inaugural National Celebrants Day. Tonight ACT members of the Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants (AFCC) celebrated with a dinner. Here is a fun photo of me with fellow Celebrants Gina Callan and Kirsten Federle.
11.01.2022 Some things to consider when planning your ceremony.
10.01.2022 I've had a few dogs at the weddings I've been Celebrant for. Now there are options for having them supervised by professionals both before and after they perform their ceremonial duties - as an escort, ring bearer or ? - which makes life much easier. Are you considering sharing your ceremony with your fur baby?
09.01.2022 Today is Dying to Know Day - take the time to talk with your family about your thoughts. I am here to help you to pre-plan your funeral.
07.01.2022 Today I joined with family and friends to formally say farewell to a 92 year old gentle gentleman. It is only six months ago that I was Celebrant for his wife's funeral. I was so honoured to be their chosen Celebrant. A Celebration of Life provides an opportunity to say farewell and reinforce memories of love and kinship. Farewell my friend.
07.01.2022 Welcome to 2021. Congratulations to all those getting engaged or legalising your special relationship this year. I wish you all the very best.
05.01.2022 Preparing for your spring wedding? Here are some things to consider.
05.01.2022 With small weddings being an option - I love the idea of a lunch time venue and the ability to celebrate Spring and Summer in Canberra. Looking to set a date? Get in touch so we can chat.
05.01.2022 2020 doesn't have to be a total disaster - you can still get married! Below are some suggestions from the Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants (AFCC) that may help you in your planning. This is what I have posted in a group. Please use in any way possible but remember, EVERYONE is in shock and battling their own individual emotions during this stressful time CV-19 Class of 2020 ... Due to the new changes, if your date cannot go ahead (as confirmed with venues), here are a few simply steps to follow :- 1. Create a Facebook group for family & friends already invited 2. Announce your date has been POSTPONED (not cancelled because you will definitely still be getting married in the future). 3. Chat with the venue in regard to transferring ALL costs to a future date. Yes there may be additional costs or penalties but these will be insignificant in comparison to them applying the T&C’s of your original contract. 4. Once you have that date, contact each and every vendor (use BCC to help out) letting them know due to the new restrictions imposed from today, the venue has advised your day cannot go ahead as planned but it has been rescheduled to 00.00.202X and you hope they are happy to transfer your existing invoices to that date. 5. Monitor those who can and those who can’t. 6. For those who can, ask for updated invoices. 7. For those who CAN’T, ensure you reach an agreement in regard to how to cancel any existing arrangements ..... most will be relieved you have a new date so hopefully there will be very few who can’t transfer. 8. Be VERY understanding, CV-19 has impacted the events industry AND their own livelihoods in a HUGE way ..... their passion for your day has been a HUGE commitment and many are suffering 9. For those who can’t commit to your new date, ask them for recommendations and/or pop a post in the group. PLEASE REMEMBER...... everyone is in SHOCK so please don’t use the word CANCELLATION when each and every vendor, family and friend really want your day to go ahead even if it’s down the track Happy planning. I am here if you want to chat.
05.01.2022 It is a beautiful morning in Canberra today. I enjoyed a walk with my girlfriend around Yerrabi Ponds. So still and peaceful. It would make a lovely spot for a small wedding!
04.01.2022 Don't you just love these pictures? I have had several furbabies at ceremonies I have created. I love being a Celebrant
03.01.2022 Enjoy your day!
03.01.2022 This morning I was lying in bed thinking about the repercussions of COVID19 on the world. Close to my heart are the impacts on marriages. Yet I was reminded that the new rules actually bring us to the essence of marriage and the wedding day. The law states that 'Marriage, according to law in Australia, is the union of two people to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life' We tend to add trimmings and celebrations but that is the essence. So if you a...s a couple are ready to commit to one another and legalise that commitment through marriage - go for it. As a Celebrant some of my most special ceremonies have only included the couple, 2 witnesses and me to make it legal. Don't let COVID19 stop you making that commitment. See more
03.01.2022 Elm Grove is a gorgeous venue and just around the corner in Bonner. I would love to be your Celebrant when you choose this lovely venue. Give me a call so we can meet.
