23.01.2022 WA leading the way thanks to our community working together, following the rules and supporting our local businesses. We are all in this together!
23.01.2022 We're establishing a new COVID-19 Industry Support Fund that will provide further targeted assistance for industries that need it. As WA's economic recovery has... been faster and stronger than initially expected, take up of some of our initial support measures has been lower than we budgeted for. Some measures have also been in higher demand like our Building Bonus program. We rolled out $2.7 billion of immediate COVID-19 stimulus and relief measures earlier this year. Those measures provided an important safety net for countless WA workers and businesses. But thankfully, fewer Western Australians needed to make use of them than originally anticipated. Thanks to the efforts of all Western Australians, along with our hard border, we’ve been able to open up our economy more than any other State and we are now seeing strong signs that WA is recovering faster than expected. But while many of us have been fortunate, we know that some industries have been hit harder than others, and face longer term challenges as the pandemic continues around the world. For those funds which have not had the uptake originally anticipated and which are no longer required, we will repurpose the money through a new fund to provide further stimulus and relief where it is needed most. By monitoring sectors of our economy over the coming weeks and months we will be able to provide further targeted relief and stimulus that will create and support local jobs and continue our economic recovery. One stimulus measure which has seen strong take up has been the Building Bonus program - which offers grants of $20,000 to any homebuyer who wishes to build a new house or purchase a new property in a single-tier development (such as a townhouse) prior to completion of construction. Following the introduction of the grants, land sales increased significantly, peaking at around 500 sales per week in late June. This is up from the historical average of around 60 per week. The $30 million of additional funding for the Building Bonus announced today takes the total investment in the program to $147 million - a massive boost for our local construction industry. Western Australians have done so well to work through this challenging year together so far - and this new fund will help to ensure everyone local workers and industries aren't left behind as our economy recovers.
22.01.2022 A bunch of great volunteers out at the Ocean Road Primary School polling booth where a McGowan Labor Govenment has committed $30,000 for a new nature playground.
22.01.2022 This has been a really tough year for a lot of people. It's more important than ever that we check in with our friends and loved ones, asking "R U OK?" and being prepared to support them if they say no.
22.01.2022 This morning I joined Roger Cook, David Templeman MLA and Robyn Clarke MLA at Peel Health Campus to check out the upgrades to the emergency department. As a paramedic with 19 years experience I know how important it is for emergency departments to run efficiently with a high standard of care. The upgraded emergency department at Peel Health Campus will open next month as a part of a $10m upgrade to the hospital. The McGowan Labor Government has also committed to a $152m major redevelopment announced last November, and for the Peel Health Campus to be brought back into public hands.
21.01.2022 Family’s that ‘Dawe-knock’ together stay together.. That is how I roped my son Alex into helping me anyway. Come join the fun!... www.lisamunday.com.au/volunteer/
21.01.2022 On Friday I had the privilege of attending Allambee and OVIS’s 10th annual Silent March in remembrance of those who have lost their lives due to domestic violence. As a paramedic and registered psychologist I see upfront the impact and devastation that domestic violence has on families as well as the rippling affect it has on those who love them and our community. To those who are experiencing domestic violence, please know you are never alone - we stand with you.
21.01.2022 Many grandparents don’t expect a family crisis that leaves them to raise their grandchildren. Often it comes unexpected and we hear from grand carers themselves that financial support is the leading challenge in fulfilling that role. The McGowan Labor Government will ensure that grandcarers have financial support and can better support themselves and their grandchildren with a $6 million investment in grandcarer support, creating a threefold rise in payments.
20.01.2022 Containers for Change starts tomorrow!
20.01.2022 As a paramedic and first responder, I sadly see all too often the devastating outcomes of driving distracted. This will save lives.

18.01.2022 Our Premier Mark McGowan has once again stood up and protected WA. WA has always avoided setting an arbitrary deadline on borders. A date WILL be set, when our health advice recommends it, but that might be some time away.

17.01.2022 Happy Fathers' Day Dad! Thank you for everything and we appreciate all the work that you do. To all the dads out there, happy Fathers' Day to you too, and this includes step dads, grandads, and other people who step up into fatherly roles. Thank you for all the love and support you provide. And most importantly, to all the families of dads who are no longer with us, I am thinking of you today and sending you my love and warm wishes.
13.01.2022 Here in Dawesville we have some incredible local artists and they need our support! I’m so pleased that a re-elected McGowan Labor Government will deliver a $25 million boost for regional arts initiatives, ensuring artists, filmmakers and other creatives can continue to develop and tell their unique stories and perspectives throughout our regional communities.
13.01.2022 Running for re-election these past few weeks, I've been speaking to people across our beautiful State from Forrestfield to Burns Beach, Albany to Broome, Coll...ie to Mount Lawley. And, overwhelmingly, West Aussies want the same things new and secure jobs, a safe future for our kids, and an experienced and responsible State Government. Early voting centres are open now, and the final day to vote is this Saturday 13 March. If you want to re-elect my strong, stable and experienced Government, I need you to vote for my WA Labor team this week.

09.01.2022 It was great to welcome Premier Mark McGowan for coffee at one of my favourite locals in Falcon Lazy Janes Cafe Where do you think I should take the Premier next time he visits the wonderful electorate of Dawesville?
07.01.2022 I had a wonderful time at the Peel Thunder Ladies Day with Robyn Clarke MLA over the weekend. It was fantastic to meet so many locally active women!
05.01.2022 Our community here in Mandurah cares about reducing waste to landfill and we’d love to see local organisations driving waste-busting initiatives. We’ve annou...nced grant funding for businesses, charitable recycling organisations and not-for-profit organisations which want to run projects to tackle waste reduction, diverting waste from landfill and improving community education. It’d be fantastic to see some local waste-conscious organisations from Mandurah access this funding - for more information visit website. But get in quick - applications close on September 14!
04.01.2022 Meet Judith & Rob a lovely couple from Falcon. They were concerned about the pressure being place on Western Australian’s to re-open our hard border. Judith and Rob asked me to thank Mark McGowan for keeping our border closed and for keeping all of us safe.... I also want to share Mark McGowan’s thank you message to people like Judith and Rob who have done the right thing to protect their community. This is a hard time for all of us, but thanks to the courage and thoughtfulness of our Community, we are getting through it together.
03.01.2022 Only Mark McGowan and WA Labor have a plan to keep WA safe and strong.
02.01.2022 For all those in our community celebrating today I hope this year brings you peace and prosperity.
02.01.2022 My ambo mates came to wish me good luck at the Southern Estuary Progress Association Hall polling booth this morning
02.01.2022 Great to see construction start on this vital piece of community infrastructure. More parking will mean those of us across the bridge can be a bit more leisurely in our drive to the station!
02.01.2022 CONTAINER DEPOSIT SCHEME BACK OCT 1 Remember the good ol' days of running around trying to find every single can and bottle you could for some extra pocket money? Well they are back! From Oct 1, you'll be able to drop off your recycling at Community Recycling Erskine (39 Galbraith Loop Falcon) or any of the other locations here: www.containersforchange.com.au... It's little things like this which will make a big difference to keeping our community beautiful that make me excited to be part of the Mark McGowan team!
01.01.2022 The residents on Zendora Court think Mark McGowan is doing a great job keeping WA safe. One household even suggested he should run for Prime Minister! I’m a little selfish and think we should keep him here - what do you think?
