25.01.2022 Many times in life, you might find that other people‘s responses are not what you needed, wanted , could understand or wanted to hear. It’s a difficult one, because perhaps everyone is entitled to their view point? On the other hand, timing is so important and knowing when and what to say; Unfortunately we can’t control what others say and do but we can control how we respond and proceed with these relationships. I encourage you to always try and see things from another perso...ns point of view and perhaps to seek objectivity in the matter; but at the same time it’s important to remember that another’s response is not always about you, but rather about them and their limitations. Accept what can’t be changed and learn to love and respect yourself and walk away. #letdown #loveyourself #selfrespect #judgement #toxicpeople #unaware #bebetter #accept #walkaway #mentalhealthawareness See more

25.01.2022 This is true and life is our lesson. We learn as we go. Yesterday, I was reflecting on how often you only understand things, once you’ve experienced them first-hand. Experiences can enhance your understanding of others and improve your compassion. Experiences can teach you valuable lessons and help you grow. Experiences can offer opportunities. However, an experience can be a crushing event when you fixate on negative self judgement and allow your shame to take over. It’s important to let an experience build you and not break you. #learn #grow #selflove #compassion #development #personaldevelopment #personalgrowth #experience #mentalhealthawareness #lessons #learnthelesson

24.01.2022 It’s often really hard to say sorry. However, an apology has the ability to mend relationships. Maybe more importantly, an apology allows you to push yourself beyond your defensive limitations and your fragile ego. It allows you to take responsibility for your growth and enhance your future. #saysorry #apologise #grow #develop #respect #responsibility #ownership #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #personaldevelopment #better #teach #model #changeispossible

21.01.2022 It’s really tough keeping positive and hopeful during these most challenging of times. I’ve heard some people feeling guilty about their depressed feelings when they aren’t without jobs or in isolation. It’s important to remember that you can feel down in your mood and at the same time have the realisation that there is a lot to be grateful for and it’s often a more confusing state of mind to be in. Give your feelings room, as no matter who you are, it is a very difficult tim...e and there are many losses for everyone: losses to our sense of control, our familiarity, our freedoms and sense of security. Be kind and tolerant and don’t let go of your hopefulness! Sending care and strength to everyone!! #positive #covid19 #isolation #toughtimes #hardship #bepositive #hangin #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #hope #tolerance #kindness #compassion #dontjudge #gratitude See more

21.01.2022 Uncontained emotion can result in the emergence of the helicopter parent whose over-involvement might be a knee-jerk response and an overcompensation for their lack of having adequate parent involvement. Unknowingly, these parents might be responding to their anxiety or narcissistic needs, whilst overshadowing and not recognising their child’s inner world. So, what is correct? Is there a right way to parent? Is it possible to re-parent one’s self where the lack of good enough parenting has caused personal dysfunction? (Lisa Myers)

15.01.2022 "The more helpful response to being triggered is to recognise your emotional charge as a signal that something is amiss within you. In other words, emotional reactivity is a reason to go inward, focussing on your own growth. Once you realise there are no enemies, only guides to inner growth, all who play a part in your life become mirrors of your forgotten self." SHEFALI TSABARY, (THE CONSCIOUS PARENT)

14.01.2022 Additional Medicare sessions for those subject to further restrictions. Would be great to see this support extended to everyone! The cost of good mental health prevention and support is far less than the cost of treating Illnesses.

13.01.2022 Learn to identify when someone is shaming you to gain the control, feel better about themselves and project the blame to protect their own inadequacies. Often shaming is used by parents as a discipline strategy; however, it only fosters poor self esteem in their children. #dontshame #dontjudge #parenting #parents #teens #children #parentskills #selfesteem #bebetter #learn #grow #selfdevelopment #psychiatry #mentalhealthawareness #build #encourage #objectivity #avoidtoxicpeople #narsissist #negativeenergy #selflove #selfrespect

13.01.2022 I suspect it is hard to love a mental health therapist. We don’t always want to talk when we come home, we have talked all day. We don't get too excited over minor crisis because we deal with massive crisis all day. It may seem that we have left all of our caring, our heart, and our love at work, and have come home to you empty, we probably have. We don’t tell you that many times at work we are scared. Scared we are missing something. I guess it is hard to love a therapist, b...ut know this: we still need your love. We need your understanding. We need to know that you get it". We need to be the one taken care of every once in a while. We need someone else to take charge of the details because constantly doing everything ourselves is exhausting. We need you to do the hardest work you may ever take on, which is...to love a therapist. Came across such raw and beautiful words, that share light into the daily life of a mental health worker/counsellor/therapist. 12.01.2022 Loving our new puppy. It’s been such a big, crazy year and apologies for my lack of posts. Mental health continues to make headlines and it’s no surprise, given that life is busy and often very tough. I have remarked that some call it mental health; I call it life! I suppose, I believe that we all carry hardship and face daily obstacles that make it critical to learn to cope with what is available to us. As the year draws to a close, I wish you all well and do remember to prioritise your emotional and psychological well-being, as it’s fundamental to your fulfilment and success! #corona #toughtimes #mentalhealthawareness #mindfullness #selfcare #selflove #friends #family #pets #dogsofinstagram #pettherapy

04.01.2022 Loss is often the most challenging experience. Thinking back to my greatest loss, my father and seeing many others grieving their losses, makes me realise the normalcy of emotional challenges in every day life. Grieving is a process and it’s a forever-after in some shape or form. Allow yourself the time to grieve your losses. All experiences are relevant and relative; don’t feel guilty for your responses! I’m grateful for the amazing Dad I had and will always miss him. #loss #grief #mourning #process #loveyouforever #dad #anniversary #bekind #compassion #understanding #mentalhealthawareness
