24.01.2022 "The secret to living longer is to eat half, walk double, laugh triple and love without measure." ~Tibetan proverb
24.01.2022 Are you a desk potato? Poor posture, repetitive motion and being sedentary can worsen (and even cause) your musculoskeletal disorders. Studies have shown that taking time out for exercise or other health promoting measures can still achieve the same, if not higher, levels of productivity. Try: - Getting a breath of fresh air. Not only does it give you a short break away from the desk, but varying your heart rate with a short walk to the outdoors as well as change in light h...ues and oxygen can help to keep your brain aroused and flexible in its thought processing skills. -Meditation. Studies have found that meditation can grow brain regions related to focused attention, memory and deep thought. -Take a short nap. Memory consolidation occurs while we sleep, so closing your eyes even for 10-20 mins will help with retention of facts and creativity. -Connect with others to release feel good hormones. -Express gratitude to rewire your energy. This strengthens your anterior cingulate cortex which controls your rational and emotional mind. -Take stretch breaks to refresh and boost your brain power. See more

19.01.2022 BELLY BREATHE THE MONSTER OUT TO FEEL YOURSELF AGAIN! Deep breathing helps keep your state of cool in times of stress and feelings of overwhelm. It activates the parasympathetic nervous system responsible for decreasing heart rate, lower blood pressure and allow proper digestion. Deep diaphragmatic breathing can actually stimulate the vagus nerve, sending messages to the brain to relax the body. Adults: try breathing in for 4 seconds, hold for 7 and release for a slow 8 sec...onds. For all you mums and dads out there, this is how it might look for teaching children to manage their big feelings.
15.01.2022 Chiropractors arent just back doctors - compressive nerve issues are our specialty! These maybe nerves compressed from a spinal disc or even peripheral nerves compressed by fascia and muscle tension (such as carpal tunnel syndrome). The fast controlled stretch applied to muscles during an adjustment is key to restoring muscle tone to more normal flexibility.
13.01.2022 The drug companies must hate us!
13.01.2022 Chiropractic for children is so gentle and helps facilitate the normal maturation of a growing nervous system. I cant imagine a world without the helping hands from a Chiropractor for children. Very grateful to all of you who wrote submissions supporting for this favourable outcome
13.01.2022 Give it your all!
12.01.2022 Many people sleep with their head elevated on pillows however this places the neck, mid back and lower back in unnatural curves. When everything is in good alignment, blood circulation improves, breathing improves, digestion improves, muscles relax and generally there is less strain on joints to enable a better quality of sleep.
12.01.2022 Is it ok to crack my own back? I often get asked this question and many people are guilty of doing it either over a chair, pushing, twisting or getting someone to crack it for them. The sound you hear is the creation of a cavity, or negative space, in the fluid that leads to the noise as tiny bubbles of gas (oxygen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide) is released... similar to a suction cap. It may give you relief but the ligaments responsible for holding the joints together wh...ich provide stability, like rubber bands, are forced to stretch when you pop your own joints. Just like an over stretched rubber band it eventually loses elasticity which can make the joint unstable and more likely to damage. Added to this is the fact that when you pop your own joints you often pop the joints around the misaligned right joint to pop due to the fact that they move easier than the jammed up/restricted joints. So you dont actually fix the problem, rather provide short term relief which can lead to early degeneration as your body attempts to stabilise the joint adding to the problem and creating a new one. The more you pop your joints the more you feel you need to also. The best way to relieve the issue is to visit your Chiropractor. Chiropractors have studied at least 5 years at university to know the best approach. (Unforced popping on the other hand isnt harmful as it is not uncommon for built up pressure in the spine to release when you move).

10.01.2022 Let your smile change the world, but dont let the world change your smile.
08.01.2022 Isnt the human potential incredibly fascinating, and how many of us actually train our brains to be on purpose in life. You dont even have to be an olympian to benefit from learning the art of tapping into the mental rehearsal of a desired outcome. I guess this aligns with the law of attraction too! But I found this article interesting in the explanation of how "By rehearsing a detailed mental image of the desired outcome, athletes can improve physical performance in their sport."
07.01.2022 Is it ok to 'crack' my own back? I often get asked this question and many people are guilty of doing it either over a chair, pushing, twisting or getting someone to 'crack' it for them. Just like an over stretched rubber band it eventually loses elasticity which can make the joint unstable and more likely to damage. Added to this is the fact that when you pop your own joints you often pop the joints around the misaligned 'right joint to pop' due to the fact that they move easier than the jammed up/restricted joints. 07.01.2022 Try this one at home (while nobody is watching perhaps, wink) Slump forward as far as you can and then try to take a big breath... difficult right? Well imagine how much oxygen and therefore energy you loose to poor posture every hour let alone each day! Now while you are slouched over try and raise your shoulders high... again very difficult isnt it? Consider the load on your neck, back and shoulders and micro-trauma you maybe subjected to each day you fail the posture test
06.01.2022 Warning rant alert! I had a client tell me the other day that her neurologist told her not to get Chiropractic adjustments. After enquiring as to why... she hesitated nervously and finally said because he mentioned stroke. This same neurologists advice for treating her neck pain that radiates into her head was to put her under general anaesthetic and use a pulsating injection along the nerve length. Who knows the exact figures but a quick google search easily found general a...naesthetic to be far more likely to cause a stroke that a Chiropractic adjustment so what nerve he has to give such advice! A patient information leaflet from Whiston Hospital, Preston states "1 in every 185,000 general anaesthetics administered". "Life threatening allergic reactions occur in less than 1 in 10,000". "What is the risk of dying during a general anaesthetic: Exact figures are not available, but if you are healthy the risk of dying is 1 in 100,000 general anaesthetics". "For every 100,000 caesarean sections, one death happens due to the anaesthetic alone. The death rate is higher when having an emergency caesarean under a general anaesthetic". "Besides causing unconsciousness, anaesthetic drugs affect all organs of the body. It is usually these other effects that increase the risk of death or brain damage during anaesthetic". JManipulative Physiolther.2015 Feb;38(2):93-101. "Risk of stroke following Chiropractic spinal manipulation in Medicare B beneficiaries ages 66-99 years with neck pain. NOTE this is the MORE aged age group therefore AT A HIGHER RISK of experiencing stroke than a "if you are healthy" age group that the information leaflet states. Conclusions: "Among medicare B beneficiaries aged 66-99 with neck pain, incidence of vertebrobasilar stroke was extremely low. Small differences in risk between patients who saw a Chiropractor and thoes who saw a primary care physician are probably NOT CLINICALLY SIGNIFICANT". Seriously!!
06.01.2022 Chiropractic care has and continues to have an excellent safety record by helping children in so many ways. It would be like telling kids to eat chocolate (medicate) instead of eating healthy food by relying on a system that has no primary health care providers such as Chiropractors to initiate healthy habits and changes in childhood development. Please help us have a voice by signing the petition by tomorrow.. yes time is running out!
04.01.2022 We all know that staying nutritionally healthy is important to our well-being. With a pandemic such as COVID-19 its more important than ever. This discussion is worth watching until the end if your interested in knowing more...
01.01.2022 Want to help your children both from a neuro-muscular developmental point of view as well as cognitively? Robert Melillo has outlined 5 great exercises here and has written books on Autism spectrum disorders and disconnected kids which are a well worth purchasing if your children have autism, ADHD, dyslexia, obsessive compulsive disorder and other neurological disorders. I have done his courses and can tell you he is really up to date with current research and his knowledge in the field of neurology is second to none!
