24.01.2022 Sustainable practices in childcare !!! We promote awareness of our environment and our surroundings each and every day, from our energy use ( turning lights off when they are not needed, using natural light ) to recycling and reusing ( breakfast and tissue boxes etc ) ... This week we decided to use some over ripped bananas after a family bought in a cple of kilos into care last week, we brainstormed what we could do with them. We had some very good ideas !! Feed bubbles ( the pet dog ) Put in the vege patch ( to grow new bananas ) And everyones favourite make banana bread !!! We spoke about each idea and decided banana bread was the best choice as we could then have banana bread for afternoon tea. So we would be not wasting the bananas and also would not need to use other fresh ingredients today for afternoon tea. We all had so much fun and all helped each other from supporting them with encouragement or helping clean up.

23.01.2022 Any child that has panadol or nurefon for any reason ( that includes teething ) is no longer allowed to attend childcare for 24hrs after that dose is given. We have decided to implement temperature checks on arrival and frequently through out the day, if any child has a temperature above 37.5 they will have to stay at home for min 24hrs after returning a high reading. We have very strict policies in place regarding your child attending care and sickness but we would just lik...e to refresh you. Any child with a cough, runny nose, sore throat constant sneezing, fever, vomiting or loose stools will be excluded from care until feeling 100 % The safety of all children in care and their families is very important to us and we are doing everything we can to provide a safe, clean and healthy environment. If you or a family member living at your home address has been in contact with a confirmed case of convid 19 or someone self isolating you MUST self isolate yourself for 14 days and not attend care. Thank you and we will keep your updated as polices and procedures continue to change over the coming weeks. See more

23.01.2022 Today on our morning walk, one of the little cherubs noticed someone following us, their shadow !!! This opened up alot of discussion, how did the shadow form ?? Why was it following them ?? And how did it change sides and directions ?? Our big brains had so many questions and thoughts about our shadow, we decided to see if our shadow would copy out every movement and we even tried to run away from out shadow.... Why not have shadow play at home with your child it is so much fun and the little ones love it. Take a walk and find shadows or make hand shadow puppets against a wall, talk about differant light sources in your environment the sun, the moon, a torch a bedroom light.

21.01.2022 Just reminder, no child that has a runny nose, cough, sore throat or temperature in the last 24hrs is not aloud to attend care !! Please keep your child home if they have any cold symptoms. Also keep up good hand washing and hygiene with your family.

20.01.2022 COVID-19 testing in South Australia is being expanded to test specific groups of people who either work with vulnerable populations, or who may have less access... to testing clinics. Increasing testing will help us protect the community by identifying new cases quickly and preventing potential outbreaks. Work is underway to reach out to occupational groups to determine the best ways to implement more testing. A reminder that anyone in South Australia should get tested if they have any symptoms (even if mild) including: fever or chills cough sore throat runny nose shortness of breath loss of taste and smell For more info on where to get tested, visit: https://bit.ly/2WGislS

13.01.2022 Are you finding it difficult talking to your child about the coronavirus? Its normal to be feeling anxious at these times and its natural for children to p...ick up on our feelings and emotions. Children may need extra attention and reassurance and it is important we ask them how they are feeling and clarify any misunderstandings. Weve developed an online booklet for young children you can read together that explains what the coronavirus is and how we can stop it from spreading. Download it here: https://bit.ly/3aKRiPd

We really focused on good hygiene and sharing this cooking day. The children reminded each other through out the day that they had to wash their hands before touching any ingredients and materials, we also got reminded the importance of good hygiene and that we want to prevent anyone from sharing germs or cont...aminating food. We also worked very hard on being patient and waiting for our turn. The children all did a wonderful job See more

08.01.2022 Today we made pizzas for our lunch tomorrow. Cooking with young children helps then explore their senses by feeling the different textures of ingredients, they can smell it baking in the oven and even when taste it. Cooking can also help with maths ability, life skills, fine motor skills, eye hand coordination, introduces them to scientific concepts and most importantly healthy eating that helps with brain and muscle development.... Amelia and Eliza stepped out of their comfort zones at some stages but both did a fantastic job with making their wholemeal pita bread pizzas

There are so many benefits too cooking with children, we are teaching independence and we can start from a young age by letting our children pour their own drink or letting them spread their toast. We want our children to learn life skills to become self sufficient adults that can cook for them selves and keep a clean and tidy house. ... Today the boys mastered measuring ingredients, techniques of how to operate a stove top and electrical equipment, working as a team and following instructions.
