25.01.2022 Update on these Opaline chicks - both are Aqua Jade, both have full yellow chests, have the green to back of head indicating aqua and above nostrils, both have the green belly of Jade.Unsexed atm but one definitely Opaline so it’s a hen the other one I’m leaning towards being a cock so it won’t be Opaline. No head streaks yet but most likely sf pied also. These little ones are starting to get colour so I’ll be able to identify what mutation colour they are very soon. At this point they are sf pied aqua Opaline and I’ll check in the next couple of days to see if they are also jade

18.01.2022 The life of having 200 lories, lorikeets , exotic parrots and Australian parrots, your life revolves around their nutrition which plays a pretty big part, cleaning aviaries, changing nest box materials, always get fresh branches for them, you don’t get to go on overseas trips or long holidays, days are hectic when you include your normal days of cleaning and running two small businesses but we love it and we love seeing the empty bowls and messy beaks, and everyone’s exciteme...nt to see you, and our reward is nice healthy babies In the picture below I have the parrots chop for the day plus their sprouted needed, and also a nectar mix for the Lories and lorikeets, I like giving them a wet mix as it enables Me to hide medication in it if needed, the parrots also like a wet mix as well. 13.01.2022 I made up my own sprouting mix today. Did you know that sprouted seed is extremely valuable as nutritious addition to your birds diet. It contains larger quantities of carbohydrates and protein, and less fat than in dried seed. It’s great for babies, juveniles and breeding birds. So if you have birds consider going to the extra effort to give fresh sprouting seed to your bird

11.01.2022 This bub hatched over night, unfortunately we have to take the eggs of this particular pair as dad kills chicks once they are hatched, we have tried for over year letting them rear and raise their own, but we are now sick or loosing dilute lutinos so have made the decision to take, hatch and raise babies

04.01.2022 Busy day getting the new lot of suspended aviaries in position, welding the support legs, levelling and securing, cut out 4 nest boxes ready to shoot together tomorrow and birds can go in.
