19.01.2022 Exciting times ahead for our little jazz band. In August we'll be off to Sweden, Denmark and Scotland. There are 5 ways that you can get involved or give us li...ttle help to make it a success. 1. Like/share our page/posts 2. Come along to a show. We've organised a few hometown shows as well as our usual playing around the traps. Keep an eye out. 3. Buy our music in person or online. themagnificence.bandcamp.com 4. If you're one of those philanthropic types you might like to donate to the cause at paypal.me/themagnificence 5. All of the above!

13.01.2022 OK so at this stage Jazz Club gigs are off until 2021. Hopefully starting from February 7th which would normally be the first session of the year for us. Unfortunately, we shall have to wait and see.

12.01.2022 Here's a gig LJC followers will love.

07.01.2022 A-2-B High vibrations in the Doo-Bop Lounge, Brisbane last night. The Bell boys- Azo and Josh- and the Aggs boys- Anthony (Ant) and Nick- plus powerhouse bassis...t Paul Brewer, reunited for their first gig since experiencing spontaneous multiple eargasms blowing the roof off our wedding reception. From phat funky originals to contemporary interpretations of Miles and Mingus, the lads really laid down some sick sounds.. I decided to put my new secondhand X-100s through its paces in an attempt to recreate that old-school jazz club aesthetic. Repose, compose and then expose... none of that infinite monkeys typing shakespeare digital shutterslut bullshit. Back in the day it was 36 shots per roll (38 if you loaded carefully) so you made them count... This is 'decisive moment' reportage, street photography- with the aim of capturing the joy of artists doing what they're in this dimension to do. Fujiko didn't let me down even though I let her down quite a few times.... BTW, 'She/ Her' are her pronounces of choice. I usually call cameras 'it' but these days that's considered chromophobic. To keep it real I took exactly 108 exposures. (equivalent to 3 rolls of Tri-x). These are the ones that look ok without tweaking. That's about 1 in 3 shots turning out semi-decent... which is not a brilliant hit ratio but not too bad for a first time gig shoot with new kit, I guess... No photoshop. Side note: The band's name. A2B denotes the 2 Aggs and the 2 Bells. But there are 3 B's in the band- Brewer starts with 'B'. So should it be A2-B3 which sounds like a virus,,, or Abba B or Babba or AB+...? I like J.A.P.A.N. (Josh. Ant. Paul. Azo. Nick)...

03.01.2022 Another gig on Sunday 15th Nov at City Hall, 2pm. Great chance for Lismore locals to see/hear some great music from sax player Gai Bryant, trombonist James Greening and all their fellow performers on tour from Sydney.

03.01.2022 Programme shelved Sadly, we have decided to ‘shelve’ the Autumn / Winter programme (April to August). We believe this is in the best interests of Members and fr...iends, performers and the wider community to avoid further spread of the COVID-19 virus. We will re-visit the situation monthly with a view to re-programming once the ‘dust settles’, subject to the availability of the musicians and the Lismore Bowling Club. Continue to support The Arts Musicians, performers, artists and the like are NOT always on the receiving end of government support during times of national disaster and crises such as these. They should be. Lismore Jazz Club is proud of its tradition in supporting live music and we are deeply regretful that we’ve had to make this decision in this scenario, that’s close to 30 professional musicians who will be losing a fair bit of their income (rightly assuming that LJC’s cancellations won’t be their only) over the next few months. They are understanding of the situation, but they still need to survive. Support the arts wherever you can attend live music / arts gigs if you’re comfortable, buy CDs, buy art. Over the next couple of months there may be a few more buskers about, if they make you smile or step poetically to their music, chuck $5 into their hat! We will keep you updated of our or any other local gigs. See you in the Spring But hopefully, a lot sooner.

03.01.2022 Thursday July 16, THE FINE BROTHERS will be playing at Lismore Produce Market, Magellan St, 3 to 6pm. That’s Dan Fine playing sax and percussion with Pietro Fine on piano and melodica. This is the third performance by the Fine Bros, but the first this year and we'll have our third guest, Lucas Zorzo playing guitar. Dan and Pietro have been playing jazz since they were teenagers and always shared an interest in cultural music around the world. Only recently they have been sharing music from their ancestral Yiddish speaking culture i.e. Klezmer. You can expect a bit of all that and an Ausi gem revamped too. See you there, at a safe distance of course.

02.01.2022 Really enjoyed Dorian's gig when he played this show for the Lismore Jazz Club a while back. Now you can catch it in Mullum, don't miss out.
