25.01.2022 WHO IS MARK PIORKOWSKI??? It has been quite interesting to watch what has been happening in Armidale, with their councillors being suspended, an Administrator b...eing appointed and senior staff abandoning ship. It seems Lismore City Council's Dictator, General Manager Shelley Oldham, thinks the people of Lismore would benefit by taking on one of Armidale's former top staff members, who was at the helm as Armidale tumbled into oblivion. Welcome Mark Piorkowski, one of our new Directors, replacing one of two Directors who only started in the job not so long ago but have already resigned. Are the 'rats' also jumping ship at Lismore? The following link relating to Armidale provides for an interesting read, reflecting what we have been seeing happening at Lismore City Council in recent times: www.armidaleexpress.com.au//letters-to-the-editor-a-lot-o/ It appears Mr Piorkowski will fit in quite well under our Dictator's regime. #KeepingThemHonest #SackShelleyOldham

24.01.2022 Unbelievable!!!!! So disrespectful and wrong......no matter what the circumstances names should never be published.....I can see a massive litigation bill coming

22.01.2022 Have you signed and/or shared the petition to investigate the Dunoon Dam as an option to guarantee water supply yet? #SupportDunoonDam

22.01.2022 Well done Nancy you truly represent the best of this community which I know you love and care about!

22.01.2022 Not surprised!!!

19.01.2022 Why do I need your help? 1. Because as at now 5 Rous County Councillors out of 8 have voted to axe any further investigations into the proposed Dunoon Dam. 2.... This means that the RCCouncil will be forced to proceed to sell off the land which it has acquired over the last 25 years that has cost millions of dollars. 3. This leaves the communities and visitors of Ballina Byron Lismore and Richmond Valley Local Government areas with no secure confirmed water source available to them for their growing populations. 4. Fact: If it stopped raining today there is only enough water in the Rocky Creek Dam to supply the region for 1 year. That by 2024 our communities will be living with water restrictions. 5. The suggestion of plundering the Alstonville Aquifer or building a billion dollar desalination plant at Tyagarah that pumps from the Cape Byron Marine Park or toilet to tap solutions (recycled sewerage) that will cost an additional $600M over the whole of life project is unnecessary compared with an estimated $220M dam. These alternatives come at an eye watering cost. With so many data gaps and incomplete studies, how can an informed decision be possibly made as to the viability of the proposed dam? To ignore the technical advice defies logic. Please help me to help you by emailing the General Manager at [email protected] ASAP as the rescission motion will be debated on the 17th February. Please share this as far and wide as you can so that a clear message is sent to the dissenting councillors that you do not agree with their decision. Thank you in advance.

16.01.2022 QLD BORDER CLOSURE IS NOW A TRAGEDY AND UN-AUSTRALIAN This was always going to be the case. We have had a tragedy for a pregnant mother from Ballina who needed ...emergency care for her unborn twins. She waited 16 hours to fly to a Sydney hospital, rather than a short trip to Brisbane. Sadly, one of the babies has now passed away. This is not Australian, this is not how we operate. Our region has no community transmission of the virus. We are not a 'hot spot'. There is nothing but heartache and damage being done to families health and livelihoods. This might be playing well for the QLD Premier politically in the short term, but this border closure is unconscionable. The QLD Premier says QLD hospitals are only for Queenslanders, well more than 6000 Queensland citizens were treated at Tweed Hospital (in NSW) in 2019. This represents 20% of all in-patients.

15.01.2022 Lismore come to the heart/less.... in full show at tonight’s Lismore City Council.....

15.01.2022 Just reading section715 of the NSW Local Government Act 1993 and there is nothing in there that says you need to release the names of ratepayers when selling lands or properties for unpaid rates..... 715 Notice of proposal to sell land (1) Before selling land under this Division, the council must (a) fix a time and place for the sale, and (b) give notice of the proposed sale by means of an advertisement published in the Gazette and in (i) a newspaper circulating in the area... or part of the area in which the land is situated that is published in print form at intervals not exceeding 26 days, or (ii) a manner that the council is satisfied is likely to bring the notice to the attention of persons who may be interested in purchasing the land, and (c) take reasonable steps to ascertain the identity of any person who has an interest in the land, and (d) take reasonable steps to notify each such person (and the Crown, if the land concerned is owned by the Crown) of the council’s intention to sell the land under this Division. (1A) The time fixed for the sale must be no earlier than 3 months and no later than 6 months after the date on which an advertisement is first published in the manner determined by the council in accordance with this section. (2) If, before the time fixed for the sale (a) all rates and charges payable (including overdue rates and charges) are paid to the council, or (b) an arrangement satisfactory to the council for payment of all such rates and charges is entered into by the rateable person, the council must not proceed with the sale. The only things the Act says is "c) take reasonable steps to ascertain the identity of any person who has an interest in the land" which means find out if anyone is owed money from the properties....it definitely DOES NOT SAY RELEASE the names of the owners!

14.01.2022 Great initiative well done Hayley!

12.01.2022 No surprises there......Green Council = Wasted money

09.01.2022 When I listened to this interview I could not believe how similar Lismore and Central Coast Council are. The Councillor interviewed was not aware of their dire Finacial situation but surely a GM on $500,000/year and other senior staff new about it but did nothing. I bet the minister will blame the councillors for that!!!! She should reform local government starting from no political parties at Council election!!!!... And if a council is dismissed so should all senior staff! See more

06.01.2022 Letters To The Editor: Gianpiero Battista weighs into the Dunoon Dam debate https://lismore.app.link/YHlMHIYfeeb

04.01.2022 Interesting to read in the Norther Ricers Times this week about a submission from LCC blasting the current Federal and State Governments.......how’s that for keeping relationships with those who might give Lismore more grant funding when we need it? Writing a submission is ok but harshly criticising one side of politics when everyone knows the others are doing exactly the same when they can is Finacial suicide......I wonder who’s the strategist in Council who has approved that!

03.01.2022 What I don’t understand is why the Minister for Local Government always thinks that the fault lies with the Mayor and Councillors. Councillors are expected to read hundreds of pages every week, take phone calls from community members at any time, research and ask the right question to staff that often ostracises by only providing partial information or none at all as well as being expert in: - finance - roads and bridges engineers - social workers... - marketing guru - health experts - engagement experts - entrepreneurs - future ball readers and all for, in Lismore, just over $20,000 gross a year. If councillors are sacked so should the GM and closed managers paid hundreds of thousands dollars a year who are clearly not doing their job. The Central Coast Council GM is our previous GM who was hired to turn the boat around in lismore and did nothing......I see history is repeating down there as well!
