25.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW? Fire and Rescue NSW don’t just do house fires, rescues and HAZMAT incidents. FRNSW has a number of specialist bushfire capabilities curren...tly being employed around the state. These include: -Using our existing urban pumpers (fire trucks) to provide property protection on the urban interface -Using a large number of specialised Off-Road firefighting vehicles called Tankers that carry large amounts of water and bushfire gear. -Providing a number of specialised Bushfire Officers, Urban Search and Rescue and Incident Management Staff in support of our colleagues from the NSW Rural Fire Service. -Most importantly of all, highly trained and experienced Permanent and On-Call firefighters! We’re working side by side with the RFS to combat this latest bushfire emergency. On-Call firefighters Mick M, Ray and Deputy Captain Scott have been deployed on strike teams to the north of the state recently.

16.01.2022 Breaking news: Our very own quick draw cartooning Captain Paul Dorin has captured Santa crossing our skies getting ready to visit children across the world. He has made a quick detour to help our firefighters - thanks Santa!

11.01.2022 This week we received a letter from a young child asking us to employ their dad who is a Firefighter in another state so they can move north. Unfortunately we don't get to manage recruitment at a local level however for all the keen potential applicants out there this years recruitment campaign for Fire and Rescue NSW is set to open on July 24 and will be open until August 9. 08.01.2022 May 4th is International Firefighters Day & also the feast day of St Florian, the Patron Saint of Firefighters. St Florian was the first known Commande...r of one Firefighting squad in the Roman Empire. He lost his life, as well as those of his colleagues, for protecting the same humane ideas which Firefighters all over the world share even today. Happy International Firefighters Day & to Firefighters everywhere stay safe! Pete Learmonth

08.01.2022 Like everyone else we have had to make some changes to the way we operate. At this stage there are no changes that will affect our operations to emergency calls. However at this stage until further notice FRNSW have suspended all non-emergency community engagements and only FRNSW staff are permitted inside Fire Stations and Appliances.... If you require any fire related advice please call the station on 66215660 rather than attending the station.

05.01.2022 Tanker 397 Sierra As we are sure you are all aware recently our Tanker was destroyed during firefighting operations. What we want to say is how much Fire Fight...ers take pride in the appliances in our care. Yes she was old... Yes she was slow... But she was ours!!! So this is her obituary. TRUCK 780 (Aka Tanker 397 Sierra) She was born in an Isuzu Philippines Factory in 1994 and was purchased by the then New South Wales Fire Brigade and converted into a firefighting appliance (firefighter speak for a fire truck) and commissioned in 1996 where she was deployed to Fire and Rescue NSW Station 216 Bathurst She served there untill 2006 where she transferred to Trangie NSW Fire & Rescue 465 Station. There she worked untill 2016 as their primary rescue appliance, assisting the Trangie community. After that she bounced around a few stations at Sydney Fire and Rescue NSW Station 232 Boorowa and Fire and Rescue NSW Station 385 Moss Vale. In 2017 She made the move up the coast and arrived in Nambucca Heads as a SEV (Service Exchange Vehicle) and Strike Team Tanker. But she was known to us as Tanker 397. While here she not only served our local community, but replaced trucks that were being serviced. Her final tour was on the Kian Road Fire, she responded with our Fire and Rescue NSW Station 371 Macksville collegues to protect a home. It's sad to see her gone, but there is something noble about going out on the fireground not in a field somewhere. So for the dozens of communities in which she served. And the Thousands of our NSW community she protected. Thank you, you proved indefatigable. Vale Tanker 397. Edit* there have been a few messages coming on the page or via messenger about a replacement. Fire and Rescue NSW and Melinda Pavey are both working hard to source a replacement for us and much thanks to the both of them.
