22.01.2022 Cats should NOT be doing tapestry during isolation This cat was in for a routine desexing procedure late last week. While Dr Richard was intubating her he discovered a needle lodged in her soft palate. Ouch !!! With careful hands and and great eye he was able to remove the needle. After talking to her owner, she said that Suki is known for getting into mischief but had no change in behaviour other than the occasional sneeze! Apart from that, suki had been bright, mischievous and well! Isn’t amazing what our animals can endure?
21.01.2022 Hendra alert Recent conditions have led the group at Bat One Health to predict that winter 2020 represents a period of heightened risk for Hendra Virus spill over. We urge anyone with horses to vaccinate them for Hendra. Hendra is an extremely serious and devastating virus that is 100% fatal in horses and transmissible to humans which is fatal 70% of the time, so vaccination not only protects your horse but you and your family! Furthermore most veterinarians including us will require horses to be Hendra vaccinated before providing veterinary services.

19.01.2022 Today we remember the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for us and our country, but we also remember the brave and loyal canine friends who served alongside our troops. Among their many duties, our enlisted buddies have helped carry messages through the trenches, detect bombs and land mines, laid telephone wire, and carried ammunition and medical equipment from place to place, whilst providing much needed companionship. As a reminder of their bravery, companionship and loy...alty during the war here is a collaboration of photos of dogs in war from the Australian War Memorial. Lest we forget.
19.01.2022 Count the puppies? We had a littler of bullmastiff pups in for their first vaccination today. We delivered them by caesarean six weeks ago. They all have loving homes already.
19.01.2022 Tick season has arrived! We have had 5 cases in the past week including Patches who presented to us yesterday unable to walk, not eating and vomiting. A paralysis tick was removed from behind her left ear and she was started on tick antivenom. The tick neurotoxin had also affected her breathing and paralysed her larynx making her unable to swallow properly. After two days in hospital Patches went home today! If your pet starts to show any signs of tick paralysis or if you find a tick on your pet, this is an emergency and you must bring them in straight away for treatment. This is now a preventable disease with some fantastic tick prevention products on the market, so make sure your pet is on tick prevention. Do not hesitate to call us if you need any advice about which product to use.

14.01.2022 ATTENTION ALL CAT OWNERS From the 1st July 2020 the law is changing in NSW regarding cat desexing and registration requirements. All cats within NSW are required to be lifetime registered by 6 months of age. This is not new. ... NOW all cats within NSW are required to be desexed by 4 months of age or face extra yearly fees on top of their lifetime registration. If you register your cat now before 1st July 2020, there will be no fines/fees to pay. If your cat is not marked as desexed on their pet registry record, please contact us with your cats microchip number for us to change this. Please note: We must be the clinic that desexed your cat for us to do this. This is a new law for us too, and while it has been in the works for some time now, it has only appeared to us in the last two weeks. There is still unclear information and we will be answering your questions the best we can. For more detailed information please contact your local council or the office of local government NSW.
