25.01.2022 Lismore Workers Softball Club spectators were not sure which team to cheer for when Wild Turkeys and Mighty Ducks did battle in today’s game with mothers and their kids playing against each other. Ducks won the toss and sent Turkeys into bat. Safe hits to Carmen Thomas, Lauren Forrester, Lyn McDonald, Kristy Lawton, and a classy bunt by Luke Zimmermann saw Turkeys score six runs. Young Kobi Forrester lead Ducks attack scoring two runners with a safe hit to rightfield. Emily ...Findlay scored off Rhianna Lawton’s bat only to see her thrown at firstbase, but not before Ducks cross homeplate for three runs. Turkeys extend their lead with a two-base hit to Lauren Forrester and hits to Bronwyn Gibson and Kristy Lawton which resulted in a further six runs, before Ducks pitcher Jacinta McDonald throw out Talon Forrester at first base to send Ducks into bat. Ducks stepped out their game and applied the pressure forcing several errors in Turkeys field to gain three more runs off Harry Clark, Leah Manning, and Naomi McGowen’s bat. Again, Turkeys rallied with the bat. A brilliant bunt to Zimmermann, a three-base hit to Thomas and hits to Forrester, Kasey Renwick, McDonald, Talon Forrester and Gibson. But it was a controlled high fly ball catch by Ducks Ava Greensill at shortstop and a brilliant play by Jacinta McDonald tagging her mother Lyn out heading to homeplate that had everyone cheering. With an 18 to 6 lead to Turkeys the game looked to be done and dusted. However, a spirited Ducks side were not finished yet. With loaded bases young Jacinta McDonald was thrown out at first. An error by Turkeys pitcher, saw Rhianna Lawton reach first and pushing her players around. Tara Clark was thrown out at first by catcher Kasey Renwick but managed to score another runner. With two out, Turkeys only needed a regulation out, however, Harry Clark made third base on an overthrow to first. Ava Greensill hit safely to score Clark and the pressure was now mounting on Turkeys to shut the innings down. But it all came to an end when Thomas made an easy out to first giving Turkeys a 18 11 run win. For Turkeys Zimmermann bunting improved throughout the game and played his usual best behind the plate and at firstbase, while the whole team batted strongly. For Ducks pitcher Jacinta McDonald excelled on the mound only giving up four walks for the game and her sound fielding skills and knowledge of the game led her team. Greensill continues to impress with each game played and was sound on the field and with the bat. All in all, a great display of sportsmanship from both teams in a fun environment. On Friday night, our Mixed Isotopes teams played Goonellabah full of fun, laughter and some great hits. Tom Pearson, Jeremey Sexton, Darnel Hueston-McLeod and Karina Connors speared headed their batting attack while ten-year-old Kobi Forrester, Nina Van’t Honenderdal, Trish McIntrye and Sharleen Thurgood stood out in the field. Isotopes won in a close 34 to 28 win. See more

20.01.2022 When you see Leah Manning running towards you with both hands pumping the air and a big smile on her face and yelling, we won, we won you take notice. This was exactly what happened last Saturday when Mighty Ducks had their first win for the season. Quickly following Leah, was Kobi Forrester calling nan, nan we won, we won and Rebecca Fletcher telling me what a great game Kobi and the Duckies had. So, although this wrap up of their game is a bit late, it is only fitting ...it be told. Rous Rascals were sent into bat and young Hayden Grove started their attack with a two-base hit to centrefield. A hit to Harry Clark at second base saw two runs score, but Clark beat Azalai |Bateman to the base for the first out. Workers shortstop, Ava Greensill, caught Dominque Lawton off the base for the second out before pitcher, Jacinta McDonald took an easy catch for the third out. Ducks went into bat and quickly scored six runs with Emma Shields, Clark and Emily Findlay leading the charge. A muffed fly at secondbase saw Rascals lead off batter make first and from here they crossed homeplate four times before McDonald teaming up with Kobi Forrester on firstbase for two outs and catch to Shields in the outfield. Workers scored a further four runs with McDonald, Rhianna Lawton and Shields, with a two-base, hit advancing their runners to give them a lead of 10 runs to 7 at the bottom of the second. In the top of the 3rd innings, Duckies showed great form in the field, limiting Rous to scoring only two runs. McDonald and Forrester proved they are a great combination at pitcher and firstbase, while catcher, Lawton tagged out her brother at homeplate and held the ball on the third strike to send Edward Shields back to his dugout. Rous rallied in the bottom of the 3rd, restricting Workers batters to just three runs with Gove at shortstop taking a fly ball, and pitcher Rob Connor throwing out two batters to Bateman on firstbase. The score was still in Ducks favour by 13 runs to 9. Rous scored a further three runs in the fourth, but it was all too late, and the score resulted in a 13 to 12 run win to MIGHTY DUCKS. Congratulations Duckies. I guessed I’m not allowed to watch anymore of your games now!

13.01.2022 Don’t forget our Christmas party this weekend after the games

13.01.2022 Rous Rangers outclassed Lismore Workers Wild Turkeys with an 18 to 6 run win. Homeruns from Rangers batters were a major feature of the game with Samantha Green, Shannon Holgate and Wesley Wilford slamming two massive hits each. They were also supported by Holly Carmen, Catherine McAnelly and Lachlan O’Sullivan. Turkeys were always going to struggle against Rangers, but with three players out of their side and pulling up from their Division 3 team Mighty Ducks, they could ho...ld their heads up with their own field performance. Division 3 players, Naomi McGowen and Jacinta McDonald excelled, making base on both turns at bat. McDonald worked hard in the outfield narrowly missing a raging ball of Holgate’s bat. Shortstop, Kasey Renwick continues to dominate Turkeys field being involved in four outs. With Rangers onslaught with the bat resulted in Lauren Forrester step onto the mound who’s loopy pitching style restrict their attack, except for Green who took full advantage of the slower pitching. It took Woodburn Wonders until the third innings to forge a commanding lead over Lismore Workers Mighty Ducks running out winners by 15 runs to 9. With improved fielding lead by pitcher Tara Clark, Emily Finlay at thirdbase, Ava Greenfield at second and a double play by Rhianna Lawton at first saw Ducks were within striking distance being down by one run at the bottom of the second innings with Woodburn leading by 9 runs to 8 with Lucy Creighton’s homerun being the difference. Woodburn stepped up their game the third and fourth innings keeping Ducks to scoring one run with Nicole Andrew making three outs from thirdbase into the safe hands of Carmen Ainsworth at firstbase. A batting rally by Woodburn in the 3rd with an enormous homerun of Andrew’s bat guiding her team to score six runs and the win. Workers Isotopes went down to Casino Mixed on Friday night by 37 runs to 27. Isotopes continue to play their fun style of play, with all players enjoying the game. Jeremy Sexton leads with the bat and is supported by Tom Pearson, Darnell Heuston-McLeod and Jerry Deal. In the field the experienced Karina Connors help to guide Nina Van ‘t Hoenderdal, Ashleigh Thomas, Trish McIntyre and Sharlene Thurgood.

06.01.2022 Lismore Workers Wild Turkeys proved too strong for Goonellabah Gunnas with a 15 to 3 run win in yesterday’s game. Coach, Di McGowen, knew her side was going to have a solid game when off the first pitch thrown in the game, Goonellabah’s batter Sharon Foster hit a hard-line drive which managed to stick in the end of Erin Rucker’s glove at secondbase. Pitcher Lyn McDonald was in great form with four strike outs and three assists for the game. Turkeys fielding was a prominent fe...Continue reading
