25.01.2022 Even the city can be a beautiful place to connect.

13.01.2022 Dear Friend, Happy Solstice! May you know your own power, in these powerful times.... Jupiter and Saturn are in Aquarius for a while (1 and 3 years) asking us to dance between collective responsibility and expansive freedom. Technology, communication, dreams and ruling structures will be impacted. Aquarius asks us to be the compassionate rebel with a cause. Let’s fight to break free of the individual and collective patterns that keep our minds and hearts habitually enslaved. What is good for your soul? What is good for all of us? What support do we need, from ourselves, or others, or the universe? How do we communicate our deepest humanitarian wishes and integrate them into our communities and government? Venus in Sagittarius invites us to be playful and passionate yet truthful with these energies, for the next 2 weeks. In support of this, I’m sharing this gift of sound meditation. This is a practice that I personally begin my day with, to acknowledge my current feelings, to remember I am supported by earth and ancestors, and to sing my intentions into the day. In many creation myths, the universe begins in sound; a sacred sound, that keeps singing itself into being. So if you love singing or music, this might be one for you. It’s like a solo kirtan, but you design your own mantra. May we, like the universe, create ourselves anew each day; singing our souls, our individual truths into the collective space, to harmonise and co-create a joyful, caring future that is fair and fun for all beings, and the earth herself.

12.01.2022 Why we are all like lettuce...

12.01.2022 We call it the gum tree, as if it were just a thing Not pulsating, not whispering, not rustling around, not shedding skin, Not perfuming, not drinking, not pers...piring, not growing, not trembling, Neither swaying, waving or sheltering Not watching, not listening, not stretching, not changing colour, Not bleeding, not blooming, not breeding, not singing, not shrieking, Not crying, not sleeping, not grieving, not breathing, not scratched and bleeding from a frightened goanna, Not tolerating raucous mobs of parrots, children Just there, sticking out of the ground, As if we weren't so very blessed to have it there. - ‘Gum Tree', Graham Ballard from Casino, NSW, Koori Mail 501 p.23 Pictured is the Sacred Ancestor Tree, a Directions tree, that Djab Wurrung people would use for guidance. It's a beautiful reflection of a living and breathing culture. But now another victim of the violence of so-called Australia. The violence of this Colony is ongoing and ruthless. It was cut down today.

10.01.2022 In Mindful Self-Compassion, we often talk about the softer side of ourselves that is underneath the harder exterior. Emotionally, our harder emotions like anger and jealousy often masked a more vulnerable emotion underneath, like the sadness or disappointment that arises from an unmet need. I love the way the Vedas talks about this.... It reminds me that those protective emotions, the masculine, direct or yang side of ourselves also has a function and purpose... we don’t want to be vulnerable in every situation. Yet if we are only ever protective and fierce and defensive, we will never get to the softer truth, what is really at the root of our suffering.
