25.01.2022 "So then how do non-Aboriginal people support us but avoid paternalism and cultural appropriation? Well, the truth is there is no simple answer, and good intentions often arent enough. In lieu of an ally rulebook, here are some tips which may help non-Aboriginal people stay on the right side of that line."

14.01.2022 One of our favourite segments, Mentoring Moments is back as a full length episode of Writes4Women. Now that Kel and Pam are both writing and editing again we ha...ve decided to inject new life into an old segment from the original incarnation of the Writes4Women podcast - Mentoring Moments. "Mentoring Moments" are episodes where Pam and Kel chat to each other about the progress of their current writing project, the wins and aha moments as well as the challenges and blocks they are facing along the way. It is a mini mentoring session between a new writer and a professional, to inspire and help other writers facing similar things, as they try to write their books. This month Kel chats to Pam about the fear of never writing another good scene and how a growing passion for poetry is informing her writing style for her book. While Pam talks about completing the re-edit of her 2nd published book and the key things she has learnt from having to look at her work and herself as a writer, 8 years on. Listen where ever you get your podcasts or click on the link to listen via the Writes4Women website. https://www.writes4women.com//mentoring-moments-with-kel-a And while you're there don't forget to sign up for our newsletter and check out our current book giveaways.

11.01.2022 Some interesting pod stats: 1n 2014 podcasts were 1/25th of AMFM Radio and now, in 2020, it is 1/8th! The amount of listening on digital devices has now surpa...ssed listening on non-digital devices. It is the first time that that has happened and quarantine has had a significant role and has accelerated this. Desktop listening actually increased as people are around their home computers more. Before quarantine 50% of Americans 14 plus reported listening by 7.15am. NOW in quarantine we dont hit that threshold until 8.30am. Tom Webter - Edison - RAIN

07.01.2022 This post is from the Founder of Listen Up - Kel Butler Our business mandate has and always will be no blame, no shame, no judgement We are about making conversations and telling stories that heal and connect. ... We are a village of passionate creatives with lives and kids and we strive for balance in our work and in our teams. We will always choose compassion, empathy and kindness as our yard stick for making choices as a business, as an employer and as a maker. We invite you to choose it with us and make this world a more loving and joyful place. Namaste
07.01.2022 FROM AUTHOR Anita Heiss... Id like my non-Indigenous friends to step up. To make a stand. So many of you say you support reconciliation, that you believe we ...have a right to a voice to parliament. That you despise the statistics attached to First Nations Australians. But you are silent in public spaces. That is not good enough. Step up! Use your influence. Either you are with us or you arent. I understand you may never understand how every unjust Black Death is personal to us. But it is. If you dont understand but you want change then step up! One of my friends posted this on her page. Use this if you need to. We need your support. We are tired of the violence of police against black people. How many more deaths in custody will it take for you to step up?

03.01.2022 We are super excited and humbled to be working with this guy and the entire Climactic collective. They are an incredible group of motivated and talented people working to making a positive impact toward climate action and environmental protection. "Mark Spencer (pictured at Melbourne's 2019 Sustainable Living Festival) is convinced that collective action is essential if humanity is to address and learn to live with climate and so with that in mind he created and set up the "...Climactic Collective" Mark is what might be called a "podcast addict" and so having an audio background (or at least life-long interest), it was only natural he would lean towards creating a collective of podcasts, hence the "Climactic Collective". Nearly 20 podcasts can be found on the Climactic Collective and they are all, in one way or another, about telling stories; stories about how people are living with the reality of the climate crisis." 02.01.2022 THIS IS OUR OUT OF OFFICE REPLY FOR ALL SCHOOL HOLIDAYS FROM NOW ON because our founder is a parent and most of the people we work with and contract are also parents or guardians of some sort. It's about time we accept the massive interruption School Holidays presents to those taking care of kids and stop pretending, as a workforce, that there are no lives outside of work. We would love this to change across the board and for there to be more flexibility in workplaces aroun...d times like this but the only way that is going to happen is if we start setting the example ourselves with our own businesses and work practices. SO THIS IS HOW LISTEN UP PODCASTING IS DOING OUR PART IN SHIFTING THIS ARCHAIC PARADIGM. Feel free to copy and paste and do/suggest something similar in your own workplace. The more of us who push back, the more likely things will eventually change. LISTEN UP SCHOOL HOLIDAYS OUT OF OFFICE REPLY: "Thank you for emailing Listen Up Podcasting, we are a business which includes parents/guardians and we choose to accept and acknowledge that during school holiday periods things can be delayed, rescheduled and interrupted. So we request your patience with us during this time if email responses take a little longer than usual. We will try our best to respond as efficiently as possible but if your query/request is of an urgent nature please text me (Kel) on ********. Your understanding is appreciated. We believe it is time all businesses start to accept that people who work also have lives to juggle and Listen Up Podcasting has resolved to set an example around this from now on. Thank you. Be happy, safe and well. Kel Butler Creative Director Listen Up Podcasting"
