23.01.2022 Trackpad replacement in a MacBook Pro Retina (2014). This repair is rated difficult because the batteries are glued in on these things. With the right tools and some patience, it’s actually quite simple!
23.01.2022 FYI - anybody that has taken advice from myself when connecting to NBN - was not affected by this ;)
20.01.2022 Have a big house and your Wifi router doesn’t cut it? No problem! Here’s a multi-WAP wifi install in a big house. All the same Wifi SSID with seamless roaming.
20.01.2022 SSD upgrade and fresh install of Windows 10 in this laptop! Boot/loading times are now seconds, instead of 5+ minutes. Is your laptop really old and slow? Chances are it’s because of your mechanical hard drive inside. Now if budget is a constraint for getting a new computer, consider getting an SSD upgrade on your old machine instead - as most cheap laptops still don’t come with SSDs as standard, which means you will run into the same slowness issues.
19.01.2022 Just a quick SSD upgrade on this laptop. All data was kept in place - now this machine is super fast, no more waiting for programs to launch!
18.01.2022 1TB SSD & 24GB Ram upgrade on this Late 2013 iMac with a fresh install of OS X Mojave. This iMac will now be fast enough & won’t need replacing for years to come!
18.01.2022 This users laptop kept overheating and turning off. Turns out it was a faulty fan! Fan has been replaced and it’s ready to go!
15.01.2022 Workstation build. Complete with a 6 core cpu, 16gb ram, 512gb nvme SSD, 3 x 4tb HDDs in RAID5 - meaning that if one drive fails no data will be lost! Paired with 2 x 27inch monitors.
14.01.2022 Another day, another SSD upgrade! Instead of going out and purchasing a new laptop, this one has been upgraded with an SSD. It now performs the same or even better as laptops in the $800-$1000 range. I still don’t understand why laptops are being sold on the shelves without SSDs considering how cheap they are today. Until this is the norm, this may be a cost effective upgrade for you. All data was copied of course so no reinstall of Windows or apps required!... Contact me for a quote on getting yours done!
13.01.2022 2 x Gaming PC’s & a Workstation - ready to assemble!
10.01.2022 New business cards are in!
10.01.2022 This users Macbook screen wouldn’t work at all - most repair shops would settle straight away for a screen replacement (costing nearly $500 on this model). Little do they know that it’s often just the connecting cable on these and not the display itself (unless physically damaged). A complete strip down and some contact cleaner brought it back to life! If issues persist in the future, the cable will be replaced (very inexpensive part).
09.01.2022 Motherboard replacement in a laptop. Client got quoted more than double what this repair cost from a local computer shop!
06.01.2022 NBN! There is a common misconception about NBN - and that is that its slow during certain times of the day or that it drops out etc. Some of you even prefer your old ADSL connection. 90% of all issues related to NBN are either the ISP you have chosen, or if you are on FTTN (fibre-to-the-node) it is most likely your internal cabling.... When connecting NBN at my own residence, i could only get about 20MB. As this is an apartment block, I was able to improve the speed to 40MB just by re-doing joins that the NBN tech did. Multiple phone sockets in the house are also a major factor when it comes to FTTN (VDSL). Disconnecting the other sockets brought the speed up to 80MB. Random dropouts are most likely related to power - if you notice your connection drops, its usually the exact time you have turned something on/off in your home. Moving the phone cable away from power (in the roof/walls etc) will solve this problem. If you are one of the lucky ones on FTTP - you have options now to get speeds of up to 250/100 (with the right ISP) - this is great for businesses. (see screenshot below)
06.01.2022 $400 parts upgrade on this tower, look how fast it boots!
05.01.2022 1TB SSD upgrade in a 5K iMac. This iMac originally had a 256GB SSD inside. At the time of purchase upgrading to 1TB the cost was nearly an additional $1500. Even today purchasing a 1TB genuine Apple SSD secondhand will cost $900 - $1200. I have sourced a supplier in the USA which has been making custom SSDs for Mac’s for quite some time now, they perform faster and are much cheaper. This 1TB cost around the $500 mark.
04.01.2022 Genuine battery replacement on a Macbook Pro. Over the years battery life on notebooks degrades. Now this Mac will have all-day battery life again like it was new!
03.01.2022 This Macbook Pro wouldn't turn on at all. What would appear to be a logic board issue to most computer repair places, usually isn't with these (unless they have had water damage). Macbooks like to get themselves in a funny state sometimes and it takes some tinkering with the battery and some key combinations and it's back to life! Saved the client $100s if not $1000s on a new logic board or new Macbook.
02.01.2022 Screen repair on this Acer Predator laptop. Now it’s like new!
02.01.2022 SSD replacement in a Macbook Air.
