06.01.2022 We were saddened to hear last week of the passing of Professor Farzad Sharifian. Through his research in linguistics, Sharifian has contributed greatly to our understanding of Aboriginal English (AE) and best practice in supporting Indigenous students literacy learning at school. His work on reschematisation of Standard Australian English (SAE) stories through a lens of AE has helped many teachers weve worked with experience a light bulb moment in terms of understanding their Indigenous students perspectives and learning needs. In honour of Sharifians outstanding contribution to linguistics and education, were sharing a link to this research with the Education Department of Western Australia below. http://det.wa.edu.au///detcms/cms-service/download/asset/
