11.01.2022 Lithgow Table Tennis Club COVID SAFETY PLAN 29/7/2020 The purpose of the plan is to make it safer to play table tennis.... We are currently at stage C which allows for the resumption of normal competition. It makes common sense to keep your distance to minimise any chance of spreading any virus. We are lucky that we are local, and that COVID-19 is extremely unlikely to be amongst us, however we know how quickly that can change. If you are concerned you can bring you own sanitising and face masks. No personal equipment should be shared or even touched if possible. There are sanitiser dispensers located at every entrance and should be used. Social distancing rules of 2 metres should be adhered to when not playing. If you are from the same household the rules do not apply. Try to stay seated when possible. Xs mark where you should sit or stand when waiting. The outer toilet door should be closed when using the toilet and left open after to show the next person that it is empty. Of course, if you are in a hurry there are 2 toilet cubicles so just go but again try to keep the 2 metre distance. The umpire should spray and wipe the table and ball with the spray and cloths provided after each match. There are gloves provided, but if you use the sanitiser, they may not be necessary. The last teams should mop the hall and stage floors with the mops provided. 250ml to 1 litre of bleach should be in the mop bucket.

09.01.2022 The Lithgow Table Tennis Association members have returned to the tables and will contest an abbreviated four-team Summer competition at the Old Trades Hall with the Grand Final set down for November 11. Their Winter competition was abandoned due to Covid-19 restrictions and the current competition will be played under safe social distancing protocols. Smashes began like they had never been away, and stunned Choppers by winning the first four rubbers by a combined eight games... to one. Choppers slowed the onslaught momentarily to get back to 9-3 down but Smashes held firm from there and rumbled to a 16-7 victory. Mark McAulay and Matt Kappos shared the night’s best record, both going 6-1 for Smashes, while Shane Eagle went the distance at 4-5. All of the Choppers side struggled on their return, as Pauline Wellfare and Peter Jaccoud returned 3-5 marks and Riza Wiradi 1-6. The other match started in a similar vein, Grippers breaking from the blocks against Charolais to take the first four rubbers for an 8-3 lead. Grippers went further ahead at 11-5 and looked set to register a comfortable win. Charolais found their feet, and a 6-1 run to finish the singles put them down only 12-11 with the two doubles to come. Grippers steadied though, and won both doubles 2-0 to ease home, 16-11. A solid team effort from Grippers saw Denis Ford finish 4-2, Roy Barlow 5-4, and Lou Kappos 3-5. Sean Jenkins (5-3) was the only Charolais member to get his nose in front, with Leon Rust returning 3-4 and Sharnie Roberts 3-5. Pointscore: Grippers 4, Smashes 4, Charolais 0, Choppers 0. This Week’s Matches: Round 2; Charolais v Smashes. Grippers v Choppers.

08.01.2022 Reply if you can play in this summer comp so we can get numbers.

08.01.2022 We had 9 people having fun after 5 months off. We played a round robin won by Pauline. :-)

06.01.2022 The restrictions have been relaxed to level C. We are now allowed normal play, with a few rules. The hall will open on Monday 7pm, 3rd August for anyone that would like to play in a round robin. The competition will begin on Wednesday 5th August. If everyone could get there at 7pm for a AGM. We'll aim for the same teams as the last cancelled comp.:-)
