05.01.2022 During the festival we will have the Bundyi Mawang Tent. Bundyi Mawang is Wiradjuri language and means sharing together. The Bundyi Mawang Tent which is hosted by local First Nations people is for education about and sharing of First Nations culture, decorative dress, dreamtime stories and contemporary issues. This will be a safe place for all festival goers and will celebrate the unique and continuing contribution of our regions First Nations People to the traditions and c...ulture of this land. During the afternoon local businesses that specialise in bush foods will be located at the culture tent to give an experience of traditional and modern native ingredients. There will be a workshop at 3pm where local Aunties will show you how to make decorative arm bands for traditional dancing. At 3:30pm there will be a Dreamtime Stories session with Aunty Kym where you can hear some of the local traditional stories and even learn some Wiradjuri language. If you missed the local children who danced the welcome at the beginning of the festival dont worry because you can see them here at 4pm for a celebration in dance. There will be a Speak out Session at 4:30pm where local Wiradjuri woman Bridget Cama will talk about contemporary issues for First Nations people and communities, including her current work on the Uluru Statement from the Heart, you will be able to ask questions and find out more about her work. The Tent will be open from 2pm until 6pm. 05.01.2022 Lithgow City Council is very pleased to announce a live music event Lithgow Blast: A Free Concert for Drought-affected Communities, to take place at Blast Furnace Park, Lithgow, on Saturday 16th November, with music from 2:00pm. Lithgow Blast is an alcohol-free all-ages event for young people and their families and features a smashing line up of stellar artists from across the musical spectrum. Odette , The Delta Riggs , Yours Truly , Citizen Kay , Claude Hay and a slew of... local emerging talent will tread the boards between 2pm and 9pm on the day, therell be food stalls, room for a picnic and a safe friendly space to let off some steam and dig some brilliant tunes. NSW is experiencing one of the most severe droughts on record, with the Central West region one of the worst affected to date. There have been extreme low inflows (the amount of water entering the river and its storages) - the past six months have seen the lowest recorded inflows in history, making life very tough for many people living in the area, particularly families and young people.
