25.01.2022 Excellent golf fields continue at the Lithgow Golf Club with a big field contesting a stableford event. Golfers can now play in groups of four making sure of social distancing and golf carts can still only be manned by one player per cart. Lower marker Darren Hunter again showed what a class act he is when he returned the best stableford score of the day with 38 points which was good enough to win the A grade section. Runner up was the consistent Bill Oldfield one back on 37 ...points. Oldfield also returned the best scratch score with a brilliant four under par 68. In B grade, Brad Gordon finished with 36 points to count out Trevor Cameron for the major prize. Gordon also carded the best scratch score with a 83. C grade went to Dick Mara on 36 points with Luke Oldfield runner up on 34 ocb. Best scratch score was Ben McAndrew on 93. 16.01.2022 It was a new year of golf at the Lithgow Golf Club and it was a good field considering the rain that had fell over the past couple of days. The event was a stableford with a scratch score held in conjunction and good scoring was returned in all three grades. Darren Hunter who plays off a handicap of 1, again showed why he has been one of the top golfers in the club for many years. He shot a two under par 70 to amass 39 points and take out the A grade voucher.... His round saw him register five birdies and his 21 points on the back nine saw him count out runner up Mitch Luka (6) who also finished with 39 points. The scratch stableford prize went to Justin Nelson (1) with a score of 37 points. The B grade voucher was won by Lachlan Sharp (10) with a score of 40 points. Sharp is a relatively new golfer to competition golf and looks to be taking his hockey prowess onto the golf fairways. Runner up was Ryan Miller with 37 points on a countback. Best scratch score went to Dave Hicks on 25 points. The best stableford score of the day came out of C grade with young Blake Goldspink (24) amassing 41 points. He is one of a couple of good young juniors coming through the ranks. Ted Healey (21) who finished with 38 points picked up the runner up voucher along with a number of balls from his son Darren. Best scratch score was Dave Muir with 17 points. Nearest to the pins were Dave Hicks, Damien Marjoram, Justin Nelson, Ryan Miller and Brandon Lloyd. Vouchers wins were Damien Marjoram, Ross Harrington, Don Wolfenden, Jason Murray, Peter Hall, Michael Hunter, John Bird, Julie Murnane, Andrew Burton, Rob Ritchie, Anthony Oldfield, Brad Preston, Darren Healey, Lleyton Guest, John Chadwick and Chris Keller. vouchers cut out on 33 ocb. Monday, December 28 saw a two person ambrose with the winning team being Rob Peachman and Darren Healey with 65.5 nett. Runner ups were Max Nightingale and Paul Stewart on 68.75 nett. Nearest to the pins were Tallan Egan and Max Nightingale. Wednesday nine hole competition (30/12): Winner was Tom Jennings with 30 points; runner up was Greg Guest 20 points ocb, and Lleyton Guest 20 points. Vouchers went down to those with 17 points and went to Dave Muir, Craig Pugsley, Jeff Geddes, Rick Cohen and Leo Murnane. Nearest to the pin was John Bird. Saturday’s event will be the monthly medals. Photo Darren Hunter Written by Jeff Geddes
