25.01.2022 Today is Outside Learning day and the Sandcastles and Dolphins have enjoyed a lovely day outside after some rain this morning. We enjoyed some garden play after lunch. We built a home for some bugs, built with the giant Lego, made castles of various kinds and had lots of fun!

25.01.2022 A Day where we can celebrate our dedicated, caring, amazing LCK educators. If you would like to show your appreciation please feel free to leave a message below

24.01.2022 Pyjama Week @ LCK 13th-17th July

24.01.2022 It’s NAIDOC Week this week, and we’re starting the week off by connecting with nature, and learning what makes Australia great which obviously includes our rich history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people; and using traditional artwork, symbols and language as inspiration for artwork and sensory play.

23.01.2022 We spotted a stick insect! The Sandcastles and Dolphins have watched it move from the top of the plant, down to the bottom even doing a big jump in the process. We’ve spoken about being gentle and kind to it, because it s’more scared of us than we are of it. So we’re making sure we don’t touch it or yell to scare it.

20.01.2022 T'was a week before Christmas, And all through the town, People wore masks, That covered their frown. The frown had begun... Way back in the Spring, When a global pandemic Changed everything. They called it corona, But unlike the beer, It didn’t bring good times, It didn’t bring cheer. Airplanes were grounded, Travel was banned. Borders were closed Across air, sea and land. As the world entered lockdown To flatten the curve, The economy halted, And folks lost their nerve. From March to July We rode the first wave, People stayed home, They tried to behave. When summer emerged The lockdown was lifted. But away from caution, Many folks drifted. Now it’s December And cases are spiking, Wave two has arrived, Much to our disliking. It’s true that this year Has had sadness a plenty, We’ll never forget The year 2020. And just ‘round the corner - The holiday season, But why be merry? Is there even one reason? To decorate the house And put up the tree, Who will see it, No one but me. But outside my window The rain gently falls, And I think to myself, Let’s deck the halls! So, I gather the ribbon, The garland and bows, As I play those old carols, My happiness grows. Christmas is not cancelled And neither is hope. If we lean on each other, I know we can cope Keep it going! Copy and paste See more

18.01.2022 We are again this year supporting a very worthy cause. The Samaritan’s Purse OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD. We ask our families if they are able to take a box and fill with some small items such as a soft toy, coloured pencils, shoes or clothing (Kmart is a great place to fill a box for minimal outlay). If you would like to support this cause please get a box from the office

16.01.2022 Today’s fun food is Santa Hats You can do this at home by using a grape for the head, a slice of banana for the bottom of the hat, a strawberry for the hat and a mini marshmallow for the Pom Pom! All held together with a toothpick.

14.01.2022 Pre-writing skills are an important aspect of our preschool program. Each day all children practice tracing and writing the letter of the week followed by a writing pattern. The patterns are designed to develop a muscle memory for your child that will assist them to quickly pick up the letter writing shapes when they start kindergarten. Below is an interesting article on writing and pre-writing for your information. https://aussiechildcarenetwork.com.au///pre-writing-skills

08.01.2022 Dinosaur fun in our Sandcastle room today

07.01.2022 Check out our two new areas we have set up at the moment in the Dolphin room (school readiness room) Our construction site is based on the children’s ever growing interest in block construction we made the space bigger and added some loose parts to allow for some more open ended imagination to happen in their play. We also added in some important construction site rules to allow for safer play while constructing. Our new hospital area is a follow on from the children’s interest in germs and keeping each other healthy, at the beginning of the week one of the children invited their friends to lie down while they place the x rays onto them to show where the bones are so we decided to extend this interest and create a hospital. This also allows for the children to connect with and understand our current climate a bit more.

06.01.2022 Looks like we are getting ready to shoot off to the in the Dolphin room next week

02.01.2022 We’ve been learning about our amazing bodies in the Dolphin room these past few weeks. We’ve talked about how our body works and the organs that we have. Today we made paper bodies as a whole group. We drew our heart, kidneys, bladder and liver. We then added an oesophagus and stomach, our lungs and our intestines. We’ve learned so much and have loved pretending to be a doctor or patient.

01.01.2022 Did you know that lack of sleep can cause children, particularly toddlers & pre-schoolers, to seem hyperactive? Our friends at Make Healthy Normal asked a sleep expert at The Children's Hospital at Westmead why sleep is so important for growing brains and bodies
