24.01.2022 For our first day of NAIDOC learning the owls participated in some Indigenous style art with sculpture weaving and wrapping... . . We took a lesson from the @tjanpidesertweavers and made some awesome lizards/Goannas! The owls used newspaper and wire to form the body and then wove colourful wool around them. (The Tjanpi women spend lots of energy and time on them, and they cleverly make theirs from desert grass!) .... . It was such a peaceful way to start our day, sitting together on our mat and then also a great enjoyment to see the progression of their sculptures as the day went on. See more
