25.01.2022 Yesterday I posted about making biodegradable confetti, well we decided to try it with the heart hole puncher. The children loved collecting leaves and sorting through the natural materials to design and create their own art

25.01.2022 When faced with our child's challenging behaviors we have two choices. We can view them through the lens of our own emotional reactivity, unconscious triggers, ...and negative bias/assumptions... *OR*...we can try our best to keep those things in check in order to best support our child (and save our sanity) by meeting the need that's driving the behavior. ***DOWNLOAD*** a copy for your fridge (or classroom) here >> https://parentswithconfidence.com/shop/ See more

24.01.2022 Lots of fun outdoor play at Little Gems

24.01.2022 Very proud to be a part of the Kids at Home Family Day Care scheme who received an ‘Exceeding the National Quality Standards’ rating in our recent assessment

20.01.2022 My Little Gems get so excited for painting they find great joy in the experience of creativity & colour. Using a vertical surface also encourages children to cross the midline of their body as they reach all the space on the paper. They strengthen the muscles in their arms and hands holding up the brush, develop their fine motor skills, spatial awareness, visual attention and hand-eye coordination. But most important to them is that it is fun!

19.01.2022 We have been counting the days in anticipation at Little Gems for our little chickens to hatch from their eggs! The incubator has stopped turning and we are at day 20, at day 21 they should start making their way into the world! How exciting!!

16.01.2022 Anyone need a tow truck driver? Our little Gems enjoying the beautiful weather for outside play yesterday.

16.01.2022 How adorable are these

11.01.2022 Some of you will remember that earlier this year we took on a rescue green cheek conure as a friend for our Rosie (a female green cheek conure). We had no idea if our new featured friend was a boy or a girl so we named him skittles because he was quite skittish around us and it just seemed to fit. Well as Spring began it became obvious that Skittles was indeed a boy and very much in love with Rosie! So Micheal built them their very own nesting box and guess what?! They are no...w the proud parents of 4 little eggs!! This is a picture of the proud dad guarding the box and making sure Rosie is safe as she sits on her eggs This will also be a great learning extension for our Little Gems as they will be able to compare the differences between chickens and conures. Difference in egg sizes, the fact that chickens hatch with feathers and conures do not, and also the difference between artificial incubation and parent bird incubation (how they stay warm etc.). So many inquiry questions for our little scientists to explore See more

09.01.2022 A really great read

09.01.2022 Two of the baby chickens have hatched!! Now hopefully the others will hear their cheeps and start making their way out of their eggs as well. I can’t wait to see the happy smiles of my day care children when they arrive next week to meet all the fluffy new chicks.

08.01.2022 Our Little Gems were so excited this week to meet the new baby chickens. 7 fluffy little chicks hatched from their eggs early this week, and it has been such a wonderful experience for the kids to see the process from egg to chick and to be able to help care for them and watch them grow

02.01.2022 A few changes to our play room recently #nature #flowers #playbasedlearning
