23.01.2022 BREAKING: Our legislation to ban single-use plastics in South Australia has passed Parliament. South Australia is once again leading the nation in making import...ant decisions to protect our environment. The legislation at first bans single-use plastic items like straws, cutlery and beverage stirrers and outlines a framework for adding more items in the future. However, in light of ongoing impacts from the coronavirus pandemic, the commencement of the legislation wont occur until early 2021. This will give businesses time to bounce back before the ban comes into effect. Were proud to be leading the way in taking action on single-use plastics.

21.01.2022 As you may have heard or seen the restrictions are being lifted as of midnight Saturday.. unfortunately our doors will still be closed til Tuesday back trading on Wednesday from 7.30am as we have no stock and we will need to wait for deliveries next week. We anticipated to be shut for the 6 days. This has impacted us quite significantly now we do apologise and look forward to seeing you all back next week

13.01.2022 When I photographed Jacque and Jeff at Little Known Boutique Cafe for The Covid Tales they said: "Two months after we opened in April 2019, we had an undergroun...d fire which left us without power for three weeks. We almost lost everything but managed to survive only to be hit by the Covid-19 pandemic less than a year later. We had to switch to offering takeaway only during the shutdown period which had a big impact. Our space is quite small so even when restrictions started to be lifted 90% of our business was still coming from takeaway sales. Weve been home schooling our daughter for the past two years so were used to spending all of our time together as a family, but weve really missed being able to sit down and have a chat with our customers." Based in Yankalilla on the Fleurieu Peninsula, Jacque and Jeff are a great example of business owners who have had to be incredibly resilient to survive the many challenges thrown at them. This does not include take-away only operators. Religious or faith-based ceremonies. Supermarkets and hardware stores. Distribution centres (including associated transport operations). Gymnasiums and fitness centres. Swimming pools used by the public. Social and sporting clubs. Any activity where a COVID Management Plan is required. Any operation which may be defined by the state coordinator. COVID Marshals must have completed the training as prescribed by SA Health. Their business owner/operator or the person in charge of their activity must be able to prove that their COVID Marshal(s) have completed this training, so that they can show this to an authorised officer if requested.

07.01.2022 Our small committee (made up of 4 local volunteers) has made the very tough decision to cancel our beloved Normanville New Years Eve Pageant and fireworks show ...for 2020. With the density of the amazing crowd that gathers every year at our Pageant we have weighed up the risk and our ability to keep our community safe. It would be impossible for us to manage the 1.5m social distance rule and contact tracing requirements. We simply dont have the resources to achieve or enforce what is required by law. We understand the disappointment it will bring, but please also understand we have explored a range of options and are unable to deliver a covid safe compliant event in 2020. The health and safety of our community is a priority and we all need to keep doing the right thing to keep SA in the great position we are currently in. We welcome any suggestions about creative covid safe ways to celebrate New Years Eve with our community. Perhaps floats in your front yard with a good old mud map?? Draw our mascot Seagull Chip competition?? Let us know your ideas! We would also love to keep the spirit of the pageant going and reminisce about pageant days gone by- so were asking you to dig out your old pics and stories, snap them on your phone and upload them to our facebook page so we can all have a giggle! Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the District Council of Yankalilla for their continued support as our major funding partner.
