25.01.2022 Jeans for Genes day! Jeans for Genes day was established in 1994 by Childrens Medical Research Institute to fund revolutionary research that helps diagnose, understand, and find cures or treatments for conditions affecting kids. Today the Little Schoolies children from every room participated in activities and experiences. The Hubba Bubbas brought out their Floor book and stuck blue cut out pairs of jeans on one of the pages, The Tiny Tadpoles stuck some smaller pairs of paper jeans onto a bigger pair of paper jeans and the Fidgety Frogs cut their own pair of jeans and then played a game of Pin and Jeans on the photo game.

23.01.2022 NAIDOC WEEK Traditionally most indigenous rock art, were ground from natural pigments: black from charcoal, various reds from iron oxides and browns from ochres, creams and whites from different coloured clays. These were finely ground and bound with water, saliva, egg white or animal fat to create a fluid paint Take a look at the Tiny Tadpole room set up, the children have been assisting in painting using crushed up rocks and other natural materials. Using traditional symbols and images as a guide, the children were able to re-create different meaningful artworks.
23.01.2022 Traveling the world in 5 days! Over the next 5 days Little Schoolies will be going on a world tour as we celebrate Multicultural week. Looking, learning and celebrating other cultures in different ways. Today we traveled to Italy where we threaded pasta, painted the Italian flag with cooked spaghetti, ate some yummy pizza, listened to Italian music and even opened up our own gelato shop. We were given some play money and encouraged to pay for our delicious gelato as we walked up to the shop window. Tomorrow we will be traveling to Mexico... are you ready?

21.01.2022 The Tiny Tadpoles have been on a learning journey exploring cause and effect taking this interest and woth it also being science week we set up a science lab in the home corner area. The children can come and engage with in the area and explore multiple science concepts
21.01.2022 Cho mng - Welcome to the last stop of the Little Schoolies world tour! The children made their way over to Vietnam today. As Vietnamese music played outside the children were able to move around freely to different stations that were based around the Vietnamese culture. The first activity for the day involved hats called Nn L or Conical Hat. Using paper the educators encouraged everyone to roll their pieces of paper into a cone shape before sitckng the sides toget...her, creating enough room for the children to wear it as a hat. The second activity involved paper plates and paint! Everyone was asked to use their imaginations to paint an image of a Dragon onto the paper plate using the colours red, yellow and black. The plate would then be turned into a fan. Fried rice with rice paper rolls was the delicious lunch that was served today and some of the children asked to wear their hats during lunch time. We hope everyone enjoyed traveling with Little Schoolies over the last week. Have a great and safe weekend!
21.01.2022 On Friday we celebrated Halloween Making ghosts out of tissues, enjoying sensory play using orange play dough, painting some Halloween themed artworks and then finishing off our day with an epic Freaky Friday disco party! 19.01.2022 Olympics day 3! Show us what you got Images of people skiing were printed out in the Hubba Bubba room alongside a mountain to incorporate Winter into the Winter Olympics and the Hubba Bubbas were encouraged to stick these images all over the mountain, making it look as if the skiers were racing down and doing tricks They then participated in some sensory paint play! ... The Tiny Tadpole and Fidgety Frog rooms participated in two events today: Balloon tennis was the first event, the tennis rackets were made out of paper plates and paintbrushes in this activity everyone paired up and took turns at trying to hit the balloon back and forth to one another, over the climbing equipment. The second event was walking across the balance beam! This activity was our version of the Gymnastics Well done everyone who participated and won some wonderful medals! 19.01.2022 LITTLE SCHOOLIES GOT TALENT DAY 1 We saw some WONDERFUL performances today from our friends. We set up our main room as a concert hall and using play money we had the children purchase their tickets before taking their seats Thankyou to all who participated in todays show and thankyou our friends in the audience, who cheered and clapped their peers on! Everyone who performed today received a participation award as well as some special prizes. ... Well done Superstars Come back tomorrow for some more fun! #littleschoolies
19.01.2022 OLYMPICS DAY 4! This morning one of our friends brought in some lemons from her lemon tree at home for us to share! We extended on all these lovely lemons by making LEMONADE! Mixing all the ingredients together for our morning group time, it was a great way to cool ourselves down during the Olympic events today! ... Our events in the Fidgety Frogs and Tiny Tadpole room were Volley Ball and Ice skating In the Hubba Bubba room it was all about balancing and Colour sorting. Volley ball was set up using cling wrap wrapped around two poles that created a net and using a balloon as the ball we paired up and took turns at hitting the balloon from one side to the other. For Ice skating we used paper plates under each foot and slid from one end of the carpet to the other in a race! The balancing activity in the Hubba Bubba room involved walking across the balance beam and also the stepping stones An image of the Olympic Rings was painted by one of the educators in the baby room and coloured blocks were placed next to it. The babies were encouraged to try and match the colours of the blocks to the same coloured rings. WELL DONE EVERYONE TODAY!
18.01.2022 Currently our Hubba Bubbas are very interested in sensory experiences, especially those involving colours! During outdoor play our Hubba Bubba educators set up an exciting sensory experience. The table was first layered with cling wrap, paint was then poured on as another layer was then wrapped over the top! The babies exercised their fine motor skills as they squished and blended the paint together.

17.01.2022 R U OK? This day revolves around the slogan "R U OK?" It advocates for people to have conversations with others. We started off the morning by reading a story called In my heart this book shows all the different emotions that our hearts can have and how we can handle any emotion that comes our way. ... We participated in some emotion activities where we discussed feelings and played dance and freeze to happy songs. As this days colour theme is Yellow we were lucky enough to have some yoghurt with yellow food colouring added to it and it was so yummy
16.01.2022 OLYMPIC GAMES DAY 5! Our last day of Winter Olympics and what a day it was! Using tires as two of our main activities, some of us threw balls into the tires and the other activity was a tire race!! We were encouraged to jump in and out of a row of tires and then run to the finish line. ... The second activity was a three legged race!! Even our educators got involved and had a turn. This was such a funny activity and helped us work on team work. Today was such a great to end and amazing week. We even had some celebratory ice-cream for afternoon along with our fruit

15.01.2022 LOOSE PARTS! Loose parts is a great and fun way to incorporate recycled materials into learning experiences. Encouraging creativity and an understanding of how things can have more than one use. These materials can be anything from paper, corks, rubber bands, jars, string, bottle caps etc. The Tiny Tadpoles explored self identity today. Using materials from the Loose Parts area, they created self portraits. After looking into a mirror and watching their body movements they used glue and some objects from the area and created their interpretation of themselves. If you have any Loose Parts at home that you would like to bring in for the children to use in daily activities, please let us know!
15.01.2022 LITTLE SCHOOLIES CAMPING TRIP! Some of the children have shown an interest in camping over the last few weeks so we thought we should bring camping to school! Tents, camping chairs, sleeping bags and a pretend fire pit were all set up this morning for our enjoyment... we even went fishing using our numbered fish game with pretend fishing rods. ... We had a yummy sausage sizzle for lunch and for afternoon tea we assisted our educators to cook rice bubble slice and damper from scratch! As we sat around our pretend fire we were given some marshmallows and some sticks to pretend to roast them on the fire. 15.01.2022 Welcome To The Jungle! The Hubba Bubbas have recently become very interested in the animal figures in the room! Over the last few weeks their room has been taken over by amazing Jungle themed craft and decorations! As they have expressed an interest in land animals they have been able to extend from this into other topics such as sea animals. ... 14.01.2022 OLYMPICS DAY 2! The first event was Shot put; paper plates with the numbers going up by 10 were placed in order on the mat inside and we were given bean bags. Everyone was encouraged to throw 3 bean bags and try to land them on one of the plates. Once each bean bag had been thrown the points were added together for the final score! The next event was Discus; During the morning some of our friends decorated some paper plates and then we took them outside and threw them and m...easured the distance. We also painted the Olympic Rings using paint and cups and walked across a bubble wrap course in the Hubba Bubba room . 13.01.2022 Welcome to the 2020 Little Schoolies Winter Olympics! A book never written: How to Win at the Olympics by Vick Tori. Today was day #1 and we had a blast! ... The Fidgety Frogs and Tiny Tadpoles started off the morning by participating in long jump and passing of the torch ceremony before watching the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games opening. The Hubba Bubbas participated in a ball throwing game, some Olympic themed paintings and sliding down a slide. Congratulations to our 1st 2nd and 3rd place winners and everyone who got up and had a go. Everyone did amazingly!
12.01.2022 Recently, Little Schoolies Tiny Tadpole room (2-4 year olds room) have been focusing on self portraits. Today they engaged in an activity to create their very own portraits. Using paintbrushes, a clipboard hanging from string and their skills this activity was a way to help the children gain a sense of belonging and individuality. After studying their eyes, nose, mouth and the rest of their face using a mirror. The children were then given a paintbrush and encouraged to re-create their self portraits, as they see themselves.
11.01.2022 Diwali is called the Festival of Lights and is celebrated to honor Rama-chandra, the seventh avatar (incarnation of the god Vishnu). It is believed that on this day Rama returned to his people after 14 years of exile during which he fought and won a battle against the demons and the demon king, Ravana. Little Schoolies celebrated this tradition today with beautiful paintings and artworks and also watched a video dedicated to the story of this festival.
11.01.2022 On 02/12/20 we celebrated and farewelled the preschoolers of 2020! This year has definitely had its hurdles but on Wednesday we focused on the amazing achievements of our Graduates! We are so proud of you Fidgety Frogs, you have brought us so much joy and laughter to this year and your Little Schoolies Family will miss you all. It’s been an absolute pleasure teaching you all and we wish you the best for your bright future ahead.

08.01.2022 Our second last day on our world tour trip, today we flew to Africa and went on an animal Safari! Starting off our day we looked at traditional cloths and objects from two countries in Africa, Kenya and Ghana. We noticed the many different colours and patterns before participating in some fun craft. The first craft involved weaving placemats using strips of paper. We created placemats for our plates as we ate our yummy lunch that was inspired by an African curry dish.... We also looked at the South African flag before being able to re-create it in puzzle form. The last activity involved painting. Some of us painted with the colours of the South African flag and some of us painted Giraffes using the colours yellow and brown. 08.01.2022 Day 2 of Multicultural week. Hola! We traveled to Mexico today and had a great day full of different and exciting experiences. From decorating Sombreros to weaving a traditional Mexican craft called Ojo de Dios we danced to cultural music and also learnt how to say please and thank you in Spanish. As we played outside our educators wore colourful sombreros and fake moustaches so we asked if we could paint our own moustaches on our own faces. For lunch we ate yummy Enchil...adas with salad and in the afternoon participated in a PIATA activity! What a day, we are excited for our next adventure to Lebanon tomorrow . 07.01.2022 Our Hubba Bubbas have really taken an interest in sensory play and have enjoyed mixing sand, paint and water together. Sensory play is any activity that stimulates a childs 5 senses; touch, taste, sight, sound and smell. Using the Floor book, their sensory interest of mixing sand and water together was extended by painting the beach. Some blue paint was placed out along with sand from the sandpit and the Bubbas were able to use their hands to mix and play, creating their beautiful beach.
07.01.2022 This morning the children in the Tadpole room celebrated National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children day 2020 by completing a creative arts experience. Gathering some Earthy colours and cotton buds to paint with, a hand was placed on a piece of recycled cardboard and the Aboriginal symbol for meeting place was also used. The children were then encouraged to explore the Aboriginal art technique of dot painting. Using a branch we found we hung coloured pieces of paper off this branch, these colours represented Aboriginal Flag.
06.01.2022 Through a magical portal in the roof, we had a special visitor each day last week and here’s our proof! With Santa on our minds and magic in the air, each day at Little Schoolies we saw the famous white beard and white hair. Cheeky Santa visiting us at rest time while a few of us were asleep, leaving many presents under our tree without a peep

04.01.2022 Over the last week at Little Schoolies we have participated in Science week! This years theme was The deep blue. Innovations for the future of our oceans and features the establishment of the Blue Economy CRC. So we have been participating in many different experiments: from sink vs floating experiences to making water colours travel from one cup to another, adding play sea animals and water to the mix and many more experiments. 03.01.2022 National Pyjama day! Pyjama day is a day to help The Pyjama Foundation raise much-needed awareness for children in foster care. Today we dressed in our favourite pair of Pyjamas and participated in many different activities. We drew our pyjamas , worked on our threading skills and painted with water colours ... We then finished off our morning with a disco!! Mr Craig brought in some laser lights and a smoke machine and we danced the day away to some of our favourite songs! See more
02.01.2022 Hidden colour experiment Our Tiny Tadpole friends participated in a fun experiment to work on revising colours. Our friends used a cupcake tray to place a few drops of different coloured food colouring on the bottom of each cupcake section. Next baking soda was placed over the tray, ensuring each colour was completely hidden. With help from our educators we then brought out some vinegar and poured it over each section. We watched it bubble up and stated each colour out loud as the colours slowly rose to the top.
01.01.2022 Marhabaan Today we explored and celebrated the beautiful Lebanese culture with different crafts, food and activities. We learnt how to make Manoush (a traditional dish) which we enjoyed for morning tea. In the middle of the Lebanese flag there is a Cedar tree; we were lucky enough to use some twigs and leaves from a Cedar tree in our craft. We were given an outline of the Flag along with some red and green paint and used the leaves and twigs as our paintbrushes. Later w...e created artworks representing Tabbouleh; using coloured paper and shape recognition we were able to create a fun and different type of craft. As we ate lunch, Lebanese music played in the background and we enjoyed some traditional food. Last call for the flight heading to Africa tomorrow... I wonder what we will see on our little Safari adventure
