20.01.2022 Our 4yr Yellow group had an impromptu Rock’n’Roll dance class outside this week lead by one of our fabulous educators. The children partnered up with a friend to learn some simple dance moves counting to the beat stepping sideways, forwards and backwards with a twirl added at the end. It was marvellous to see all the children get involved and then find a friend to continue practicing with. The children were very patient with each other and taking turns who got to do the twi...rl. There was so much enthusiasm and energy we may have to continue learning more dance moves. They did ask what the song was as it’s not a current hit on the radio - it was Rock around the clock by Bill Hayley and his Comets.

20.01.2022 Good Morning Everyone!! We hope you are having an awesome FUNKY FRI-YAY! It’s a great day to have a dance and sing out loud and why not even dress up too.... If you haven’t already this week make sure you check out the weekly online music session with your child. You can find these classes on the LSM internal website under ‘Music and Movement’. Claire is our wonderful music teacher whom some of you may know from LSM. She has returned so we can still offer music and movement classes. Claire has put together weekly music classes for the LSM students and brings so much fun and energy to the session we guarantee the parents will be joining in too! This week Cinderella makes an appearance in her music session! Don’t forget to take a photo and share it with your child’s teacher or in the LSM family participation page on the internal website.

18.01.2022 Where’s Wally took over the 4yr Red class live online zoom sessions this week. We are not sure where our fabulous teacher Courtney went hmm maybe out on her allowed daily exercise for a walk or bike ride. Having Where’s Wally take over the zoom sessions was fantastic the children were so surprised and it bought a lot of fun and excitement to the live zoom class. The Cat in the Hat also made an appearance too for all the LSM children! Don’t forget to check out the internal we...bsite to find this funny cat and watch/listen to a story. P.S You might also find a magical Unicorn reading a book too See more

17.01.2022 Hi everyone!! We hope you have been having fun at home so far this week with your new kinder activity packs! What activities have you been doing or plan to do this week? Maybe you will make a Gruffalo crumble or get dressed up whilst reading your books or maybe you might make some colourful Maracas. Please share with us what you are doing We have all loved the photos you have emailed and shared on the LSM internal website. Our educators get so excited to see what you are doing and the fun you are having learning.

16.01.2022 As we settle into distance learning our Yellow group Teacher Annie has read a great book for the children to watch about distance learning you can find this on the internal website. We hope this helps the children with understanding their new way of learning at home and helps make sense why we are not at kinder.

15.01.2022 Dinosaurs go ROAR!! Did you know that? asked one of our 3yr old blue group dinosaur experts. This Dinosaur table in the 3yr group has been a super busy area. The children have a keen interest in dinosaurs and are already very knowledgeable knowing so much about these prehistoric animals. They are reminding the educators and their peers the correct names of the dinosaurs, what they like to eat and of course what sounds they would of made. This set up allows the children to explore their imaginations and come up with different stories. We are observing more story telling now as their play has evolved since beginning the 3yr old program earlier this year.

14.01.2022 As we move to remote learning at LSM with our beautiful city Melbourne in Stage 4 lockdown. We hope all our students enjoy the LSM online kinder experiences and activity packs at home. The experiences online have been put together by the kinder educators for home learning keeping in mind what items you may have in your kitchen, toy box or out in the garden. If you want to do the activities and don’t have the materials improvising is the best! Use what you do have. We would... love to see what the children have been doing at home so please share your child’s learning by uploading photos/videos onto the parents forum in the kinder internal website. We miss you all at LSM (and it’s only day.1) but we are here and still just as excited to teach and offer your children fun and engaging learning experiences.

13.01.2022 Happy Monday Everyone!! We hope you had some fun today with your activity packs at home. Or maybe you tried one of the many extra planned activities on the LSM internal website. If you haven’t got your activity pack please contact your child’s teacher. We look forward to seeing what you are doing at home!

13.01.2022 Happy Father’s Day We hope all our LSM Dad’s had a wonderful day!!

12.01.2022 Dominoes, who doesn’t remember playing this game as a child (or adult) and how much fun it was watching the blocks all lined up fall over in a line. The children have had the opportunity to learn how to play dominoes during their outdoor play. Balancing the blocks just the right distance apart so they all fall in a line has been a fun learning experience for the children. They have had to be patient and careful not to bump a block while lining them all up. The children have also been matching the dominoes and building towers with them too making this experience a lot of fun.

11.01.2022 Here is a neat way to set up the painting easel at kinder to encourage independence and creativity. Our 4yr red group educators have set up the easel for the children to use their own paint palette. The paint palettes are just milk bottle tops stuck to a paper plate. The children can squeeze a little amount of paint into the bottle top as they need from the paint bottles beside the easel. You will also see on the easel flowers and pictures to give the children inspiration for their own painting.

11.01.2022 Our beautiful climbing tree in the front play yard was looking very sad having lost all its leaves for Winter only branches and no birds coming to visit. That changed this week with some cheeky Australian birds making the tree their new home. The 4yr Yellow group have been colouring in their own birds and whilst colouring them in they have been learning about Australian birds including Rainbow Lorikeets, Cockatoos and Pink Cockatoos. Where they live, what they like to eat and even how they make their nests. The children have been really interested in this experience and are asking many questions to learn more. We hope you enjoy seeing the birds in the tree when you walk past at drop off and pick up as each day we are pretty sure more birds will make the tree their new home.

11.01.2022 Woohoo everyone this is your last week remote learning for kinder!! Parents you have all been amazing implementing the kinder programs at home, only a few days to go. We hope your children enjoy this week’s experiences just as much as the educators did putting together this week’s learning packs and online experiences. ... We LOVE hearing what your children have been doing and seeing images of their work and smiley faces. Please keep emailing your teachers it seriously makes their day getting an email to hear how things are going at home. 08.01.2022 Our LSM kinder kids may not be at kinder right now but it looks like some new friends have decided to come along to kinder and have set up home on our front nature strip. Our educators were inspired by the little communities of Spoonville’s popping up around our beautiful city and suburb they decided to create Little St Margaret’s Spoonville and bring some smiles to our kinder community and neighbours faces as they walk by. We would love to see some new residents make Lit...tle St Margaret’s Spoonville their new home, so get creative and decorate a spoon. If you are walking, riding or scootering by plant your spoon or just come and have a look. If we are not in your 5km radius don’t forget to check out the Spoonville communities closer to you as they bring so much joy and happiness.

05.01.2022 International Friendship Day Friendships made at kinder can last a lifetime. Today our 4yr Red group celebrated International Friendship Day. The children read stories about friendship, made bracelets to give to their friends and also wrote letters to each other. ... Reading the kind messages they wrote to one another were wonderful. The children showed such joy whilst taking their time to make the bracelets to give to their friends. Then showing everyone their special friendship bracelets. It was a great day for the children to have the opportunity to reflect on what their friendships mean to them.

05.01.2022 Today we celebrated National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day (Children’s Day) at Kinder. Our 4yr old groups engaged in a variety of experiences and celebrated the uniqueness and importance of Indigenous culture. Cultural inclusion is an important part of our kinder program at LSM.

Do you or your child have a favourite author whose books take you to a magical place?

01.01.2022 Our onsite students of permitted workers have made some beautiful mobiles out recycled and sustainable materials. One of our amazing creative educators Sue began making mobiles with branches she found on her daily walk which lead to this small group experience. The children were intrigued with what Sue had made they wanted to thread their own threading various materials onto their string. Whilst making these mobiles it provided the opportunity to talk about recycling and keeping Australia beautiful.Threading is also a great way to further develop children’s hand eye coordination.
