25.01.2022 Stories make the world go round...from the termite inspector who has an alternate life as a bird photographer and the House on Chicken Legs by Sophie Anderson which is our favourite treat before sleep. Reading in bed has become a ritual union that we both look forward to! Whose story sparked your interest today? Did you note it down somewhere? Have you had a story idea planted by talking to someone today? Are your eyes and ears seeing and hearing new things?
25.01.2022 Leaving a pad open on the table with pens means any moments free during getting ready for school are filled with fun!
24.01.2022 One more reason to live lightly, protect our forests and live in reverence with Nature.
24.01.2022 Creating songs is an interesting process. They can appear in the shower, bath, ambling in Nature, in the rain, singing at the top of your voice in the car, before you sleep, in the middle of the night when you can't sleep, listening to other people's music, in the depths of deep emotion or when you feel light as a feather. They can give you a few words, flow like butter off a hot knife or elude you completely for months! My daughter Remy would like to write a song about climate change. She recorded her first song last week :) It was improvised and she found a beautiful melody. We'd love to know, when do your songs sprout? What's your inspiration? Which stories can be sung?
22.01.2022 Remy would love to share an insight into Little Storytellers with you..
21.01.2022 Thanks so much to you all for your support! Rem will be creating the illustrations for our one of our first books My Little Bumble Bee. We're also making pictures for a picture book together. We'll keep you posted. X
19.01.2022 With the fires affecting so much wildlife here in Australia, our small friends the bees and their habitat are no exception. Years of drought also mean many trees in NSW have stopped flowering. This will impact how much food we are able to grow. What can we do to help? Bee keepers suggest growing lots of flowering plants in your garden. ... You can also put out water bowls with pebbles or sponges in them (so the bees don't drown). When was the last time you saw a bee and what was it doing? Share any bee stories with us, we'd love to hear them!
17.01.2022 Dragonflies are truly amazing. While humans have tricolour vision, combining red, blue and green, our dragonfriends have 11 different colours to combine so they see the world in a wild array of technicolour hues! Their heads are mainly all eyeballs! They are also one of the oldest insects on the planet, arriving 300 million years ago. They hatch and live under water for two years. Once grown they can catch their prey mid-air and eat while flying, being able to fly in any of 6... directions at any time. They are very successful hunters! Their species name is Ordonata, meaning 'toothed ones' and they are mythically linked to dragons. In Japan the Samurai carry the dragonfly as a symbol for power, agility and victory. Watching the microscopic lives of insects reminds me of what a beautiful and intricately orchestrated universe we are part of. Nature is balm.
14.01.2022 Words are potent. They morph reality, shape cultures and ignite imagination. When connected to heart they birth new worlds. Jacob Grimm was one of the brothers who wrote over 290 fairytales in the 1800's. They wrote classic tales like Hansel and Gretel and Cinderella. Jacob used words that "seem to be full of the fresh, health-giving air of the woods," according to Rudolph Steiner. Steiner established Waldorf education, anthroposophical medicine and biodynamic agriculture. H...e also recommended writing by Johaan Wolfgang von Goethe. Below is a link to one of Goethe's beautifully crafted stories. For reading during bed snuggles and inside fairy-lit dens!

12.01.2022 "We wanted to conserve cultures which are vanishing every passing day. We identified storytelling because stories remain in our subconscious. Stories go into our souls and change us in ways we are not aware of." So says Sushmita Singha, co-founder of Udaipur Tales, an International storytelling festival in India. Listening to stories and passing them down over generations is part of Indian culture. Oral storytelling has become more popular than ever, with professional story...tellers being flown to different countries to narrate Indian folk tales. They also narrate stories through dance, art, paintings, drawings and puppet shows. Says actor Vicky Ahuja, Mostly, the story chooses you, and not the other way round. The story has to talk to you, do something to you. That is the one worth sharing.
12.01.2022 Well, its happened! We’ve begun our journey as newly-born entrepreneurs scratching and sniffing at new ideas and building a whole new world called Little Storytellers! Welcome. Together Remy, my 10 year old daughter, and I are creating children’s books, songs and a kids Youtube channel. Our intention being to create inspiring content for kids that encourages freedom of imagination, healthy psychological development and connection. Stories are ancient threads woven to share ...and interpret experiences as human beings. They are one of our most palpable ways of bonding and learning. We care about what’s going on. It’s quite a lot to take in sometimes. So we’ve made a choice to support children as much as we can in being who they really are and came here to be. They are the future and how they relate to life around them creates miracles! We really look forward to sharing with you as we create. Feel free to drop us a line if you have any thoughts you’d like to share, we value your input. Dani and Rem X
08.01.2022 Clay is such a tactile sensory fun plaything! During this new epoch of home schooling, outside of school work and activities we have been rekindling some more craft. Characters immediately lend themselves to story telling! You can also find clay in the garden or on a bush walk so its a free material too. You can mix it with sand 2:1, two parts sand and one part clay to make a 'cob' that is even more resilient.
07.01.2022 Books have so much appeal. In this modern age they still stand the test of time. A cool idea for your kidlets
04.01.2022 We hope you all had a really beautiful Xmas and wish you much happiness and many adventures, in this reality or others for 2020!
04.01.2022 A very inspiring way to create! Using stones and rocks that you find anywhere in your environment.
02.01.2022 My brother, his girlfriend and their 3 year old son made this beautiful fun Brio-World video to entertain any children and adults who love planes, trains and automobiles! Enjoy!
