22.01.2022 This year, L.A.K will be standing up, polishing up and kick-starting our fundraising for a very special event whilst helping to end violence against children. We are standing up to say ENOUGH is ENOUGH! Throughout the month of October, we are asking and encouraging everyone to take a stand and actively commit to helping end violence against children, by painting one nail blue. By representing the statistic that one billion children experienced violence in the last year alon...e (that's half the worlds children), having that one painted nail on your hand can start a conversation with others, which raises awareness and funds to ensure no childhood is lost to violence. We know that just painting a nail is a powerful conversation starter, and more people talking about Polished Man means more funds raised for trauma prevention and trauma recovery. Painting a nail through Polished Man is about starting to have those difficult conversations, to raise awareness and bring the issue to light so that no childhood is lost to violence. If left untreated, the impact of violence and abuse can stay with people and deeply affect many aspects of their lives. That one painted nail could be the thing that encourages a survivor to seek help, or feel comfortable opening up about their story to someone they trust. We would love to get our beloved community help in helping us make a change! Please help us raise funds by following the following post link which will take you to our fundraising page https://my.polishedman.com/littleachieverskindergarten You can also be a part of this wonderful campaign by posting a picture to show your a Polished Man or Woman. Just take a snap of you and your polished hand and hashing #polishedman and #LAKpolishedman! Feel free to share our post and get your workplaces involved in this wonderful event!

19.01.2022 At Little Achievers Kindergarten, our Garden to Kitchen is a result of many years of passionate Service gardening which has derived from a little bit of dirt, a few seeds, a garden bed, and which has grown into a diverse and thriving garden. Our Educators and Children have experienced incalculable joy in growing and maintaining our Community Garden which has brought food into the kitchens of not only our Service but also to the kitchens of many of our children. Our wonderful Miss Lidija can be seen harvesting the yummy lettuce grown in our Garden today!

17.01.2022 Community Workers week at LAK!! This week our Little Acheivers have been busy with working on ways we can all say a very big thankyou to some of the community workers who are so valuable to our wider communities. Our Explorers’ joined together to create a beautiful thankyou card for our local fire fighters, whilst our Einsteins created and hand delivered their special thankyou cards to all of the bus drivers who drove past our centre throughout the week.... Our youngest Discoverers engaged in their creative arts by painting their cardboard busses blue just like the busses they love watching pass by the window each and every single day. Throughout the week, the children at LAK could be seen engaging in activities such as group discussions about who they would like to be when they grow up, Designing their interpretation of what a community worker should look like, Discussing the importance of community workers, reading stories and so much more. Here is a little snap shot of the things we got up to

16.01.2022 Each year, schools and public libraries across Australia spend a week celebrating books, and Australian authors and illustrators. Teachers and librarians conduct activities relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading for some very important reasons. This year Little Achievers was captivated with the children’s interest and love for books, which was promoted and celebrated within our centre for the week. Our children got in to the spirit of dressing as their fav...ourite book characters and sharing the joy amongst their peers and educators. With so many different activities relating to our favourite stories, we would say that this week sure was filled with many opportunities to promote a love for books and reading, as this is what Book Week is all about. Keep up your love for books everyone and let your imaginations run wild!!!

15.01.2022 At LAK this week we have had the most wonderful news which was the news with our very own Miss Leah who has announced the pregnancy of her first baby. To kick start the fun, our team played a guessing game with the educators and then with all of the families and children. Now with everything Miss Leah does, there is always a hidden message and intentional teaching with a purpose to inspire the people around her. As there has been many reflective moments surrounding social jus...tice and anti bias practices, she decided to use her special announcement as a teachable moment and a way to inspire everyone’s thoughts into the future. Therefore, with a rainbow theme for the celebration she discussed the typical way in which many of us celebrate the news of babies which is through decorating with the colours blue and pink. However, through this discussion we reflected upon the open minds we advocate for and the anti-bias attitudes we need to instill in our children so they all have every opportunity for equality, acceptance and a true sense of wellbeing in their life. Today there here was a special baby cookie experience for the kids, guessing games for everyone and a whole bunch of fun to celebrate, even our centre Bunnies Rosie and Flopsy got tin on the celebrations. What wonderful news and what wonderful learning experiences for not only our children, but our team of educators and families. #Celebrating Babies # Advocacy # Anti bias attitudes # leaving the past in the past and moving our practices into the future!!! 13.01.2022 Children develop positive attitudes and values about sustainable practices by engaging in learning experiences, joining in discussions that explore solutions to environmental issues, and living interpendently with the environment. At L.A.K, we aim to help children learn about and implement sustainable practices and foster respect and care for the living and non-living environment. Our community garden is a meeting place in our garden where our children independently help to care and grow a range of vegetables which are shared amongst our community and utilised within our kitchen.

12.01.2022 And just like that our Assessment and Rating is over! Within a 4 week time frame, our team worked tirelessly, day and night, to prepare themselves for the two days that our everyday practices would be assessed against the seven National Quality Standards. There were many nights of our team collating the folders of evidence we had created over time, which would showcase all the hard work, quality improvements, and going above and beyond for our families, children and communit...y each and every day. Each and every day of this process is a fantastic example of hard work, passion, dedication, leadership and of course resilience to the many ups and downs which we have had to face throughout 2020. I am so proud of the team which has been created. To the wonderful Nominated Supervisor of which I have been blessed to work alongside with, bounce ideas of, critically reflect with, and drive the high quality of our service with. Our team is a team of passionate Educators who are the definition of true teachers. They are the reason as to why we have such a high quality early childhood education and care service which is provided to our community. We couldn't have done this without the support of our sector colleagues who have supported us through this whole process and continued to support us today with the beautiful gesture of a fruit basket and flowers. Thankyou to Nancy and the team Bridge St Kids Early Learning Centres - Hurstville and Bexley and Dallas and her team at Crayons Kindy for your beautiful support! We cannot wait to see our rating!

11.01.2022 The Daffodil Day Appeal is Cancer Council’s most iconic and much-loved fundraising campaign, it is a day for Australians to come together and donate to help stop cancer. Today at LAK we joined together in our best daffodil colours and baked up a storm to raise money to support this appeal. Our Discoverers, Einsteins and Explorers either baked cupcakes, mixed up a batch of chocolate / marshmallow crackles, or sprinkled their decorations on their baked goods. The cookies, crack...les and cupcakes were selling like hot cakes and our little shop assistants did some of their finest sales work. With our gold coin donations and all of the money raised from our special bake sale today, we are proud to say that our wonderful families have contributed to something so very special. Therefore a big shout out to our families for your support and a huge thankyou to our children and educators for making Daffodil Day a special day! #daffodilday #supportingourcommunity #LETS STOP CANCER

09.01.2022 Early Childhood Educators Appreciation Day is a day for Service Providers, Families and our Children to show their appreciation and recognise the hard work, dedication, passion and endless hours of singing, teaching, role modelling, supporting, love and care which our Educators provide to our children each and every day. It is a day to say THANKYOU. Thankyou for being wonderful Carers, Teachers, Role Models, Friends and positive role models. Today our wonderful L.A.K Team ar...rived to work to find a rainbow of decorations and balloons throughout our entire service. Wonderful gifts were made for each and every deserving team member, a gorgeous flower from @stemswithstyle handed to each with a heartfelt hug from Miss Sultan, as well as a scrumptious lunch of grazing platters, burgers, pizzas and doughnuts which was provided by @aplatedaffair . The best part of the day were the loving, appreciative, heartfelt video messages from our families and children which were collated through a Tribute video. This was played to our educators, and was a wonderful way for our educators to see just how loved, and recognised they are. The love and appreciation definitely was shown in reverse as our team prepared their own appreciation to Miss Sultan through an organised dinner, a thoutful gift, and a wonderful display. What a Fantastic Team we have!!! #lovemyECE #EarlyChildhoodEducatorsDay

08.01.2022 Today LAK spent the day engaging in wonderful play based learning experiences which promotes exploration and never ending learning opportunities. It was a day to remember and commemorate the mistreatment of the country's Indigenous peoples, as part of an ongoing process of reconciliation. Therefore, in aiming to educate the children of our future, it is the joint responsibility to enrich the knowledge in which our children are exposed to and our duty to advocate nothing less than learning our Australian Indigenous history, fairness, respect, love, understanding and an equality for all.

07.01.2022 Today at Little Achievers we held our very special annual Sports Carnival! As we needed to stay in house due to COVID restrictions, our team designed the perfect space for our children to engage in a range of fun and sporty activities. The health and wellbeing of our children is of great importance and there was no better way to promote a physical fitness than the way we got our little bodies moving today. Yes we had your typical egg and spoon races, sack races, tug of war and musical chairs which was an absolutely hit; but most of all our little Achievers had the most wonderful time with their team mates. Then to finish a perfect day, everyone was awarded with a special certificate and hand made, recycled medal to show off their ultimate achievement.

With over 3,000 Australian families experiencing the sudden and unexpected death of a baby or child each year, the Educators and Children at Little Achievers Kindergarten had a very special day to help save little lives. Our Children and Educators at L.A.K, came to kindy in their most spectacular red outfits, ready to celebrate the day with a special Red Nose Day Disco to help raise funds with a gold coin donation.
