20.01.2022 In between working with the most wonderful children at my little art school, I try and squeeze in the occasional art market! Please drop on by the Esplanade Hotel in Freo on Saturday 13th through to Sunday 14th July...follow the signs for Made On The Left...we are located in the ballroom where it is nice a dry!

19.01.2022 Hi everyone, I have three spots left in my Wednesday afternoon class for children aged 9 and up...This is a rare occurrence due to kids needing to swap days at the last minute due to sports! We are doing my Nature Scapes Program this term, becoming mini biologists, abstract landscape pastellists and venturing to Lake Monger...Let me know if you would like to enrol your kiddie...We started last week, so there will be a price reduction for you. Please email me: [email protected]

18.01.2022 The rather wonderful children I have in my Tuesday class are extending themselves by following the brilliant example of Andy Quilty, a contemporary Western Australian portrait artist, with his use of blue biros...no time to worry about an accidental mark here or there, keep working the area until it looks right! They are each drawing the friend sitting opposite to them in the class...At first they didnt think they could do it, and they have a way to go still, but I am super proud of their work so far! Here is a sneak peek of Audreys portrait of Oscar, Lilys portrait of Willow and Nicolas portrait of Abbey...cant wait to hit these with some flouro ink and spray cans...We have decided that we all adore Andy Quiltys work!

18.01.2022 It has been rather a long time between posts! I have a sweet springtime market to share with you...After a lengthy winter break, The Provedores Market is on again...this Saturday the 6th of October from 9am! So many delicious delicacies to munch and sip on and a fun and affordable art activity for the kiddies from me. We will be making Paper Garlands! I have paper cut-outs in many shapes including ballerinas, bats, butterflies, feathers, flowers, ice-creams, moons and stars! ...We will decorate first with crayons, then use inks and apply a special salt effect! We will be stringing together with a colourful silk cord, and adding beads and pompoms (which the kids will also make themselves). The garlands can hang either down-wards or across-wards and will look super pretty in bedrooms and patios alike! We are there all day so come on by for a lovely way to spend a couple of hours! See more

17.01.2022 Many dedicated hours are spent each month to develop painting technique...Celia is just getting more amazing each time and Sandy continues to astound me with her can do, and get the most out of life every second attitude...which always results in a beautiful work. Congratulations to Ellie, who came for the first time on Saturday and faced the challenge of the Marigold! Lovely people to spend a Saturday with xxx

17.01.2022 The next Georgia OKeeffe Fan Club is Saturday 21st July...We look at the extraordinary Water Lily this month, I can feel myself floating blissfully along already! Each 4 hour session is $80, everything is included. Contact me soon if you would like to come along and paint these divine flowers: [email protected]

16.01.2022 An amazing day and gorgeous artworks created at the Georgia OKeeffe Fan Club yesterday. Thanks everyone for attending...my camera was on the wrong setting, so not all of the photos are totally brilliant...you are a little fuzzy Celia and Nicola...sorry!

16.01.2022 A Picasso inspired face...nice work kiddo you should be proud of yourself! The kids all did amazing drawings today! Looking forward to seeing all their designs made with clay next week...

15.01.2022 I took some AMAZING photos at my last workshop...sadly I didnt have the SD card in the camera...Inconceivable! Sorry to my lovely participants... Thank you to Lisa Gleeson for coming back to the studio to put a final coat on her painting so I could do a reshoot of her stunning Poppy!

15.01.2022 Todays Collage Art kids were an exceptional bunch ...you all seriously amazed me! Lilys work, pictured, is super gorgeous...I only managed to get one photo today and this is it! Thank you all for your fabulous work and great attitudes all day. Feel free to send me a pic of your canvases kids, they were all so stunning and different from each other, I would love to show them off. xxx

15.01.2022 Hey folks! I will be back painting mini paper parasols at the Provedores Market this Saturday. Starting at 9am and going until I run out of parasols...I only have a fairly limited supply as they were too darned costly to buy more! Bring along $10 per person for this activity...it is going to be a bright and colourful market day! PS Thanks to Lisa for painting up this spiral swirl parasol the other day...it is super gorgeous!

14.01.2022 Very happy art teacher moments! Although it has been a very long term of Mexican inspired artworks...starting in February and finishing this week...it has been incredible! Here are some gorgeous ceramics that the kids have sculpted and painted...we looked at Mexican Spirit Animal wood carvings called Alebrijes...I actually want to just sit about my studio making these myself...so much personality, pattern and colour! Thanks to the wonderful women at Claymake Studio in Maylands for firing this crazy collection for us...despite their gentleness...heads and paws were falling off in the kiln...thanks also goes to Araldite! Multi limbed, hollowed out sculptures...I think we bit off more than we could chew...however that is how we learn!

14.01.2022 There is one more spot left for this Saturdays painting workshop. We are inspired by the extraordinary Poppy artworks of Georgia OKeeffe this month. The Poppy is the birth flower for August, symbolising Hope, Peace, Beauty and Success. Poppies are also widely recognised as the traditional flower representing the fallen from wars and conflicts, symbolising Peace in death, resurrection and eternal life. Georgias studies are absorbing to the viewer with her ability to paint velvety reds and blacks...we are going to try and accomplish something a little close to this magnificence! email [email protected] to find out more

13.01.2022 This is really the highlight of my month having wonderful people visit the art room and create their own canvases. This time it was actually kind of quiet in the studio, faces show the concentration (excellent!)...a lot of cake disappeared, we drank litres of tea and there is a blurry photo of two particular participants doing just that! Love you Celia and Nicola (tea companions) and welcome Deb from Queensland! xxx

13.01.2022 I had the most delightful group of women during the school holidays...mostly educators, having a well earned break themselves! Good on you people for all the work you do in our schools and I am super happy you had a fun day in the studio!

12.01.2022 Create and Make Day is a really good workshop for the little ones with up to 4 activities on offer and lots of snack breaks in between! The kids can apply ink, paint, glitter, found objects and glue, stencil and stamp on multiple surfaces all day...such as a paper mache mask, paper and bead mobile, a calico library bag and paper parasols! Thursday the 10th January 9.30am to 3.30pm, $90 for the day. Enquire if you would like to book in or discuss a shorter day option for your little one!

12.01.2022 I still have a few spots available in this Saturdays Peony acrylic painting class! PM me if you are interested in attending...everything is provided and we start from 1pm to 5pm!

12.01.2022 I really do forget to use social media! Thank you to one of the lovely parents for the reminder! I have one spot remaining on Wednesday afternoon art classes for 8.5/9 to 12 year olds! 09.01.2022 Contemporary Mexican Street Artists - inspired canvases! Oh goodness, such a very long time between posts...and I cannot really blame the global crisis on my lack of attention ...either way I am super happy to post a couple of gorgeous examples from the Mexican inspired art works my students have completed (started Term 1...bit of an unexpected break...carried through to Term 2!). These are from my 8 to 10 year olds kids class...little people that have been very groovy and dedicated to their canvases!

09.01.2022 Who says Christmas is only red and green?...We are going for fluoro and rainbow at this Saturdays Little Arthouse Art activity stall at the Provedores market! Come on by with your kiddlets and make tree decorations with all of my amazing bits and pieces and bright coloured paint! Starting from 9am through to when I run out of all supplies! $5 each or 3 x for $12

08.01.2022 Towards the end of last year the Thursday kids and I decided to produce their T shirt designs using the photographic method of silk screening. So instead of the hand cut paper method, which I do love to do with it's more simplified and bold style, this method allows for intricate details. Here are some of their designs...you can see why we decided to do these in a different way, their drawings were magnifico and we didn't want to lose the details...The screen printed T shirts kind of went home without me photographing them...yeah I know...I am just too in the moment to snap a pic! Kids...if you feel like it, send me a pic of you in your T Shirts!

06.01.2022 Hi all, Each month I have been doing acrylic painting workshops with adults, inspired by the exquisite floral artworks by American artist Georgia OKeeffe. I have had a bit of trouble with my Facebook event page over the last few days so I have decided to delete the event off FB...I will definitely still be running the workshops and will just do semi-regular posts to keep the fan club updated on Workshop dates! Next workshop date is the 19th of May, leave a comment below if you would like more information! Thanks everyone!

06.01.2022 Come along and join me at the Provedores Market outside Pisconeris Fine Foods...coming up soon on Saturday the 9th of November 9am to 4pm...We are making fun "Initial Canvases" with paint, stencils, bits and lots of bobs! A super busy kids art workshop for $12!

06.01.2022 This is a cool comp friends! Make sure enter before the end of today...Delish!

05.01.2022 This month in the Georgia OKeeffe fan club we are looking at Poinsettia... Throughout her prolific artistic career, OKeeffe painted hundreds of floral canvases. The Poinsettia wasnt a usual choice for her, but I did find one image...Mules Skull with Pink Poinsettia. A painting that combines OKeeffes love of flowers with her other favourite themes, the harsh Mexican landscape and animal bones. The desert bones of New Mexico sparked OKeeffes imagination. Rather than signifying death, OKeeffe said that the bones symbolised the eternal beauty of the desert. Once again Georgia wanted her audience to see the beauty in all things, by focusing on the colour, shape, texture and extreme close-up details of her subjects. The next Georgia Okeeffe Fan Club is on Saturday the 15th of December 1pm to 5pm.

04.01.2022 Contemporary Mexican Street Artists - inspired canvases -Post No. 2! Here are some darned fine examples from some of my slightly older kids...I honestly had to say I could not be happier with these lovely students of mine...still a few more to finish...so possibly a third post soon!

04.01.2022 The Provedores Market happens every month in the carpark outside Pisconeris Fine foods, located just behind Axford Park, off Scarborough Beach Road. The produce on offer is always super fresh and delicious and next week is the Easter Market where Pisconeris have also invited local artisans and gift stall. Gorgeous people I have come to know through my art market days with Made on the Left and other art markets. There will be some lovely treasures on offer. I will be there wit...h my two hats on, my framed artworks will be set up and managed by a friend of mine and I will be mostly located at my little create stallthis time we are doing the most ridiculously cute activity...bunny bottomssee below...I know, it is utterly hilarious! Thanks folks, I hope to see some of you there as I think this is a truly gorgeous and authentic local event which deserves our supportand it is like stepping into a street in ItalyLove it! Cheers Vanessa x

03.01.2022 I tend to forget how much I enjoy my little kids classes! One of my favourite boys, in his absolute joy, has to show me his new drawing immediately...starts off from his spot at the desk, drops the entire contents of his visual diary in a trail leading to me, before he reaches me, he trips over the bin, and bumps into his friend, says "sorry!"...doesn't stop until he has shown the drawing in his diary! Of course I LOVE it! Here are some of their monster ceramics from last term.

01.01.2022 Last months Georgia OKeeffe Fan Club was truly beautiful. Thanks everyone for coming along and thank you Marty for being the first ever gentleman to attend the Georgia OKeeffe Fan Club, and also Glenda his Mother for being the first Mother/Son attendees! Love your work people...Next workshop is set for the 18th of August and we are looking at Georgias Poppies. I am so in awe of these works. xxx
