19.01.2022 Coles December Volunteer of the Month Award - Michael McInness The December Coles Volunteer of the Month Award goes to Michael McInness from Mt Barker District Athletics Michael is described as the silent heartbeat of the club, and if the committee didn’t have Michael, we are told there would be significant gap that would be hard to fill. Michael is the first person to arrive to every club meet (around 90 minutes before everyone else) to begin setting up equipment an...d is always the last person to leave after pack up. If there are any jobs that need to be completed outside of club hours, Michael always puts his hand up to help, and is happy to collect equipment, organising repairs and obtaining quotes, line-marking the club grounds, amongst other various jobs that keep the club going. Michael truly goes above and beyond in everyone aspect of his role, and is a committed and hard-working member of the club, and his hard work does not go unnoticed. Michael has and continues to provide the highest quality of leadership and loyal service to the Mt Barker & District Club and sets a true example for Little Athletes and committee members to follow and admire. 17.01.2022 Coles December Athlete of the Month Achievement Award - Zade Kretschmer The winner of the December Coles Athlete of the Month Achievement Award is Zade Kretschmer from Hallett Cove Little Athletics Centre. Zade has been part of the Hallett Cove Club all the way from Under 6’s and now in Under 17's, he is in his last season with Little Athletics. From under 12’s onwards, Zade has been completely dedicated to his Athletics and has been rewarded with continual improved... results. Zade’s dedication to all events has seen him become a great all round athlete excelling across all events and with that dedication Zade was rewarded with becoming the 2020 National Under 17 Decathlon champion. In the month of December, Zade achieved 5 personal bests bringing his tally for the season to 28 and has already attained 6 club records this season in High Jump. Discus, Shot Put, Long Jump, Hurdles and Triple Jump. As well as Zade’s consistent determination, hard work, and commitment to his own athletics performance, Zade also supports the club's younger athletes at training and will often run with the athletes to encourage them in distance events. Congratulations Zade and keep up the great work! 16.01.2022 Vale - Gregory George Adams It is with great sadness that we advise the passing of Greg Adams. Greg was the President of Australian Little Athletics from 1980 ...- 1984. Life Member of South Australian Little Athletics, SA Athletic League, Darwin Runners Club and Port Adelaide Athletics Club and Bay Sheffield Hall of Fame inductee. Greg and his wife Margaret were founding members of Woodville LAC and both held various roles as Team Manager or coach of the SA Little Athletics State teams over the years. In 2000 his contribution to Athletics saw him receive the honour to carry the Olympic Torch through Port Adelaide. A friend and Coach to many. a life well run. 09.01.2022 Coles January Volunteer of the Month Award - Peter Wilson The January Coles Volunteer of the Month Award goes to Peter Wilson from Munno Para Little Athletics Centre (MPLAC). Peter is the club’s Health & Safety Officer and also takes on the role as Club Photographer. You will always see Peter at the club each Sunday assisting with meet set-up and pack-up, but it is often the unseen work Peter does with the club, which the club and athletes benefit from most.... Peter is extremely dedicated to the club. Having been deployed this year for 7 months with the Australian Defence in the Middle East Region, during this time Peter has worked on a number of projects for the club and attended all committee meetings via Zoom. Peter has since returned and he has completed the following projects; Improved safety both on track and field Implemented a 5S equipment procedure Established a safety program which has been aligned with the Local Council Whilst all of these are not always visible, they are key to the overall safety and performance of the club’s athletes and club community. Peter installs and demonstrates what club pride is. He is always willing to assist and take part in anything that will improve MPLAC and it’s athletes. Peter is a linchpin to the club and his personal commitment to both the club and athletes is clearly demonstrated by his involvement. Peter is continually coming with new ideas, and communicates with everyone involved and volunteers many hours to make things happen! Congratulations on the well-deserved award Peter! 05.01.2022 Coles December Athlete of the Month Commitment Award - Alexandra White The winner of the December Coles Athlete of the Month Commitment Award is Alexandra White from the Murray Bridge Little Athletics Club (MBLA). Alexandra has been a member of MBLA since the 2013/2014 Little Athletics Season and has grown as an athlete tremendously and is now a junior leader in the MBLA family. Alexandra has always seen her involvement at MBLA as an opportunity to learn and improve her s...kills and pass on her knowledge to other athletes and parents. From the moment Alexandra arrives at a meet, she is shining with enthusiasm to help out wherever she can and is excited for what each meet has to offer. Eager to help with both set-up and pack up, Alexandra is efficient and competent at setting up each event station and is always able to round up fellow athletes to help. Alexandra is a welcoming role-model at the club who is open and friendly to all new and returning athletes and their families. As a junior committee member this year, Alexandra has enthusiastically taken on her role and responsibilities of organising athlete warm-up drills, ensuring athletes correctly find their age group events and has been an important voice for athletes providing information and improvement strategies to the club’s committee. Alexandra absolutely radiates the SALAA ambition of ‘Family, Fun & Fitness’ and continually emulates the motto of ‘Be Your Best’, by always assisting and encouraging athletes to be the best athletes they can be. 04.01.2022 Coles January Athlete of the Month Achievement Award - Jack Power The winner of the January Coles Athlete of the Month Achievement Award is Jack Power from Salisbury Little Athletics Centre. Jack has been involved with Little Athletics for 7 years, but is a newer member to the Salisbury Club this season and is enjoying every minute! In the month of January, Jack has achieved an impressive 11 PB’s as well as a centre record in the Under 10 High Jump earlier this seaso...n. Jack is an athlete who is continuously demonstrating his commitment and determination to his athletics performance, and strives for outstanding athletics results at all times during club meets. Jack has also inspired and challenged other athletes in his age group to be their best and achieve PB’s by setting these high standards for himself, and Jack is recognised as a team player athlete, in an individual focused sport.
