15.01.2022 As christmas approaches and we celebrate with our family and friends I would like to take this time to thank everyone who has supported Little Bags of Hope this year, from donations, supporting our fundraisers, being drop off points for donations, sorting donations, volunteering on our committee and at our events, people that have sewn, delivered and everything in between with out you all we would not be able to make a difference in the lives of so many children. I would lik...e to make a special thankyou to one of our interstate supporters Kylie for her generous donations this year, of not only many toiletries bags and toys but for sewing and donating the material for our beautiful Christmas sacks we used to place all the gifts in, they looked amazing, thankyou so much Kylie. This year we have delivered around 100 bags and over 170 Christmas Gifts to children in care. Once again this year I would like you to take some time to remember these children we have helped and all of the other children in care, or living in supported housing and how christmas may be a little harder for them this year, and how important what we do at Little Bags Of Hope is to these children and how you may be able to make a difference and help in the coming year.In 2020 as we continue our work we invite you to become involved and join our committee. We look forward to your support in the future We would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe, happy and healthy year in 2020 from everyone at Little Bags Of Hope.

11.01.2022 Fostering 'Little Bags of Hope' St Joseph’s School Stage 2 Child Studies students have been busy making care packages for children entering the foster care syst...em. This task has allowed students to integrate the school curriculum, as well as supporting a local charity that provides comfort for local foster care children. Students had set criteria to include an item that makes the child smile/laugh, gives them something to do, (include) an article of clothing, daily needs and provide comfort to the child. Each care package also needed to include at least one hand made item and a recycled or pre-loved item that was neat, tidy and in safe working order. Latisha Proude, a volunteer from the local charity ‘Little Bags of Hope’ which was established in 2013, visited the class to explain the charity and showed samples of care packages relevant for boys and girls of different ages. Last week, Catherine Higgins, founder of ‘Little Bags of Hope’, collected the care packages ready to be given to foster care children across Eyre Peninsula. Year 11 student, Gemma Adams said, ‘This assignment to me was truly an eye opener, to learn that children as young as newborn babies are being placed in foster care because of a traumatic or unstable environment. I think that as a community we need to do more to help’. Catherine said, ‘We provide over 60 bags and 130 plus Christmas gifts to children from Port Lincoln to Ceduna each year.’ 'Little Bags of Hope' appreciates any donations to assist in filling backpacks for children entering foster care and supported housing. Their drop off points are: Port Lincoln Aboriginal Community Council at 30 Ravendale Road and Centacare SA at 32 Ravendale Road. If you would like to donate, head to their website for a list of suitable items or visit their Facebook page. www.littlebagsofhope.com.au Facebook page @LittleBagsOfHope Catholic Education South Australia #sjssnaps #whereeverychildmatters
