24.01.2022 Children need more access to play with diverse and sensory rich materials. -Louisa Penfold

24.01.2022 Its lunchbox week !!! Part of Little Bees school transition program, we organise lunchboxes for the children who will be graduating and attending kindergarten next year. We encourage the children to bring in their lunchbox and placed wrapped sandwiches and a piece of fruit so the children can practice opening sandwiches. Here are a few snapshots of the children having their lunchbox.

24.01.2022 The educators are encouraging the 2-3 year olds to develop a sense of agency and be able to identify themselves as their own individual person as they participate in signing in and signing out their name as they arrive at Little Bees Burwood. The children find their own name tag allocated with an image of them self and place the tag on the sign in/sign out poster. As they place their name tag on the posters, they exclaim to their peers "(Name) is here!" with such great excitement.

23.01.2022 Soccer 4 Tots at Little Bees Burwood At Little Bees Burwood, we organise external extra curricular learning experiences for the children to participate in. We currently have organised Soccer 4 Tots which is a soccer program that runs each term for 10 weeks. The soccer program allows 3-5 year olds to learn and develop the fundamental basics of soccer in a positive, friendly and fun environment. We have been running the program for 2 terms now and the children who participate h...ave acquired fundamental skills in being able to play soccer. Here a few snapshots of the skills and training the children participate during the soccer session.

22.01.2022 The graduating preschoolers were very excited to visit our local primary school Burwood Public School as they hosted an orientation for the local families to join. The children walked with Miss Yvonne and Miss Melissa to Burwood Public School. The children were amazed to see the primary school children dressed in their school uniform. The visit involved the children participating in a few sporting games such as potato sack race, and moon hoppers that were presented on the sch...ools large field. To end the visit, the children walked around the school grounds to see what big school will be like. They were very excited to see so many students in their school uniform. The children also enjoyed walking too and from between Little Bees Burwood and Burwood Public School as they saw many exciting buildings, local community members and Christmas decorations on the way.

21.01.2022 Lately the children from our Jungle room have shown a big interest in fire fighters, fire engines and the fire services. The children geared up and visited the local fire station. There we met some very kind firefighters, who introduced the children to some fire safety gear, what to do in a fire (Get down low and go go go) and to stop drop and roll if your clothes catch fire. The children also were able to pretend to be firefighters and put out fires with a fire hose. Children had a blast and would love to visit them again another day. Children also got some stickers to play with when we left the fire station.

21.01.2022 At Little Bees we believe that strong partnerships with families and the community helps in promoting strong, independent and inclusive individuals. Through secure attachments and relationships, we help develop these amazing individuals to become the scientists that they are- inquisitive, playful and innovative. If you want to meet our diverse and amazing team and see our beautiful centre, do pop in for a tour. We have few vacancies across all age groups for the year 2020. **Tour schedule: from Monday to Friday, at 10:30, 11 or 11:30 in the morning; alternatively, you can come in at 2:30 or 3 in the afternoon.

20.01.2022 At Little Bees, we provide young children with opportunities to choose and make decisions. When we work this way with children, we encourage them to grow into capable, independent and resilient adults, who are not afraid to try out new things.

20.01.2022 One of the most memorable gift that our team has received for 2019. I had asked consent from the parents to publish and share this beautiful poem...

18.01.2022 Transition to School At Little Bees Burwood, our qualified Early Childhood Teachers provide a Transition to School program for the children to develop and strengthen the children's social interactions through play-based learning and self independent skills to allow the children to have a smoother transition to school process. The Early Childhood Teachers also help the children with their pre-writing and pre-reading skills, scissor and cutting skills, identifying letters of the alphabet, numbers and their name on a daily basis.

18.01.2022 Sustainable Practices At Little Bees Burwood, were committed to teaching the children about sustainable practices as well as embedding sustainable practices within the service. As part of our sustainable management plan, we encourage the children to feed the worms our food scraps from morning and afternoon tea. The children help with feeding the worms after each meal time. The children also learn to be responsible in caring for the natural environments we have within the service by planting seedlings and ensuring that the gardens have been watered with sufficient amount of water. We use recycled water from our drinking cups during our meal times to water the garden in order to save on water usage.

17.01.2022 Early childhood years are not solely preparation for the future but also about the present- childhood is the time to be, to seek and to make meaning of the world (Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relation, 2009, p. 7). If you are looking for an excellent child care centre and are wanting to know how we, Early Childhood Professionals (Teachers and Early Educators) work alongside young children and families, attend one of our centre tour which run from Monday to Friday, every 10:30, 11 or 11:30 in the morning. We also have a 2:30 or 3:00 tour in the afternoon.

15.01.2022 CELEBRATING GRANDPARENTS DAY! Grandmas and Grandpas have ears that really listen, arms that always hug and hold, love that's never ending and heart's made out of gold Today at Little Bees Burwood, we celebrated the children's love and appreciation for their grandparents by inviting all grandparents to participate in various learning experiences with their grandchild and have some biscuits, fresh fruit and a cheese platter for morning tea.... The grandparents were able to join in the celebration by participating in different learning experiences with their grandchild and observing what their grandchild learns throughout the day. It was amazing to see the grandparents spend some time at the service interacting and playing with their grandchild in an early childhood service setting. Little Bees staff really appreciate all the grandparents taking some time out of their day to participate in this celebration.

14.01.2022 This week we had a visit from Constable Jim. He discussed about the road rules and why it is important to hold an adults hand before crossing the road. He asked the children if they knew what each colour traffic light relates to and it was wonderful to hear that all our friends responded.

12.01.2022 At Little Bees, we honour the importance of our interactions, with all young children that we teach and care for. According to Loader & Christie (2017), when we are able to offer our full attention, we inject our daily interactions with love, care and creativity.

12.01.2022 We had our excursion to Woolworths supermarket last week. It was great fun looking around the supermarket, we have special visit to their store room, cool rooms. 12.01.2022 The Rusty Rabbit Cafe Little Bees Burwood planned an excursion down to our local cafe The Rusty Rabbit where the children were able to meet the local community members who were visiting the cafe as well as connect with the employees of The Rusty Rabbit. The children each drunk a baby chino with a marshmallow (warm chocolate drink). The children looked through the cafe's menu and pretended to choose different meals that they wanted to order. The children had a fantastic time d...rinking their warm chocolate and eating their marshmallow. Planning excursions to the local cafe allows the children to develop a sense of belonging to their community in which they are a part of. It allows the children to become familiar with their surroundings.

11.01.2022 The Arctic and Jungle room educators have been focusing on encouraging children to develop healthy eating habits and extend on their current knowledge in relation to health. The children participated in healthy cooking experiences as we believe providing hands on learning experiences is the most influential teaching practice to implement. Hands on learning experiences encourages children to explore their curiosity, sustain their engagement and apply learnt knowledge into their practice. The children made healthy sushi rolls and fruit juices over the course of two weeks, exploring different fresh fruits in which the children help cut into smaller pieces for the juice blender. The children also explored how we could make healthy delicious sushi rolls using cucumber, carrot, avocado and tuna,

All of our friends have had the opportunity to watch this amazing transformation in this time and understand how chickens are developed. Sadly today we had to say goodbye as they were collected to go back to an open farm environment.
