24.01.2022 Happy National Health and Physical Education Day! Getting kids moving should be a priority in every school and every family, so today we want to encourage everyone to get up and get the blood pumping. You can run, dance, do somersaults and cartwheels, jump rope, pretend to be chased by a dinosaur, whatever works for you! #HPEDay #Health #physicaleducation #exercisemedicine #littlebigstepsaustralia #everylittlestepcounts
21.01.2022 September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month and at Little Big Steps, we believe in the importance of exercise medicine for all children facing this brutal disease. Just over two years ago, Little Big Steps' co-founders Cindy & Cass were living every parents' nightmare. They each had a child diagnosed with high risk leukemia undergoing cancer treatment as long stay patients at the Royal Children's Hospital. Children undergoing cancer treatment often experience reduced fitne...ss, fatigue, musculoskeletal morbidity, neurocognitive impairment and are at greater risk of a sedentary lifestyle and obesity. These adverse outcomes can negatively impact survivors’ physical performance, social and executive functioning and emotional health. With the introduction of physical activity early on in their cancer treatment, Lochie and Sienna are now recovered, living their healthiest and happiest lives. #littlebigstepsaustralia #everylittlestepcounts #cancersux #childhoodcancer #exercisemedicine
19.01.2022 COVID-19 has been a year of constant challenges for Victorian parents. With the limitations placed on exercise during stage four in particular, the reopening of parks this week has been a welcome reprieve. At Little Big Steps, we believe in the power of exercise as medicine. Whether undergoing cancer treatment, in remission or healthy - our kids need to remain active! See you all on the monkey bars soon. #exercisemedicine #littlebigstepsaustralia #littlebigsteps #everylittlestepcounts

17.01.2022 A University of New South Wales Sydney study lead by Dr David Mizrahi found that almost three quarters of child cancer survivors increased their general exercise after just one consultation with an exercise physiologist. Little Big Steps passionately believes in the power of exercise medicine for kids undergoing cancer treatment, and beyond. Dr Mizrahi discusses the finding that individualised and tailored guidance from an exercise professional will help mitigate the risk o...f developing future health problems in the link below: http://ow.ly/5KKN50BxDvC #exercisemedicine #everylittlestepcounts #littlebigstepsaustralia

09.01.2022 When 2yo Kali was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in October 2008, her mum Gabby quickly turned to her years of experience in the health and fitness industry for help. Kali's hospital room was soon decked out as a fun mini kinder gym with a small trampoline, video game smart bike, scooter and trike in order to keep her up and active! Nurses, Doctors and Specialists would all comment on how well Kali was travelling through treatment. Kali is now a happy, healthy and very active 14yo who still continues to amaze doctors with her long-term recovery. Gabby credits exercise for strengthening her daughter's physical and mental health. 08.01.2022 Thanks to our amazing supporters, this June we’ve raised over $2700 and have been able to give a Fitbit to 20 children in the hospital. However, we need your help to do more. A donation of just $130 will provide one child with their very own Fitbit, it not only helps to get these precious kids moving and make exercise medicine fun, but it will also support them to stay connected with their family and friends while in hospital which is now more important than ever. Help us h...elp these precious kids by making a tax-deductible donation today. Every donation, big or small, helps us to reach children with cancer during this difficult time. https://littlebigsteps.org.au/donate-to-little-big-steps/ #everylittlestepcounts #eofy #littlebigstepsaustralia #cancersux #exercisemedicine #weneedyourhlep

01.01.2022 When Harry was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) at 3yo, the Morton family didn’t do much socially or publicly for three years, however they remained committed to fresh air, nature and gentle exercise! Harry’s mum Lisa said he would trip over a lot and suffer extreme exhaustion after outdoor activities, but it was worth every minute as it did wonders for him physically, mentally and spiritually. #exercisemedicine #everylittlestepcounts #cancersux #littlebigstepsaustralia
