21.01.2022 Creativity in a Crisis, Part II: Finding Clarity in the Chaos If you are like me, the feelings of fear and uncertainty about where this COVID-19 pandemic will take us are being at least partly offset by a sense that now is the perfect time to think creatively, and disruptively, about the future and our part in it. I know some people, unfortunately, have found themselves suddenly without work, while others have been forced out of their workplaces and are working from home. For... me I have more time back in my day as my travel schedule has been halted. For some, this break from the daily distractions of office activity (the daily distractions of home duties notwithstanding) and the normal buzz of business will be the chance to find clarity in the chaos. https://www.thelbdgroup.com.au/creativity-in-a-crisis-part/

19.01.2022 The Aesthetics of Survival Trans actress, model and writer Hari Nef scrutinizes the concept of passing as a transgender woman and using feminization as a survival tactic. "Hair, makeup and nails keep us strong and safe; does that make us sellouts? Or survivors?" In her talk, Nef boldly investigates trans femininity, asking the question: Why are we shamed for being femme? https://www.ted.com/tal/hari_nef_the_aesthetics_of_survival
19.01.2022 Ruth Bader Ginsburg - we love Ruth and have featured her as our inspirational woman only three months ago, given her recent passing we felt it appropriate to call her out again for such a power house, a first and leading light for women across the globe. A pioneer of women’s rights and liberal icon of the US Supreme Court, it is said that her death could have a huge impact on the voting and outcome of the US election and government in one of the biggest global power countries.

12.01.2022 Is the opposite of Accountability me being Lazy? Just lately I’ve been watching my behaviour from the outside. With the help of a business coach, who is my sounding board as I shape and explore opportunities for the coming decade, I’ve been removing myself from my business bubble and watching from an outsider’s perspective. I’m fascinated by some of the things I’ve witnessed most of which are possibly stories for another time. But one of the most interesting behaviours is ...my instinctive response to working with my coach. https://www.thelbdgroup.com.au/is-the-opposite-of-accounta/
10.01.2022 We all know that the best leaders bring out the best in their people. Be it sporting leaders, cultural and community leaders or organisational leaders, they all somehow seem to possess the keys to unlocking the ‘shine’ in those who are fortunate enough to work with and for them. In today’s rapidly changing world, this commitment to unlocking the shine in others has never been so great. Why? Because when individuals shine, they maximize not only their performance and efficienc...y but they show up engaged, committed and ready to act. When we have a whole team that shines we maximize organisational performance and by default our own capability and leadership potential. All to often we hear about the need for more leaders but really what we need is more leadership. Leadership is most powerful when used as a verb and not merely a noun. Its true effectiveness lies in the everyday actions we take to grow capability, create options, problem solve and inspire others to achieve more. https://www.thelbdgroup.com.au/leading-others-to-shine/
09.01.2022 Monday Motivations Gentleness through bravery is all that’s required to travel your own path.
09.01.2022 Over the past few months I have started to reframe and rethink rewards. Coming out of a 25 year corporate career, with the last 12 years being at Senior Finance Executive level I have had to really think differently about rewards. During my career most of my rewards in a professional sense were very much tied to leading teams to successful outcomes, bi-annual performance reviews, monthly salary and other financial incentives.... What I am seeing now since leaving corporate li...fe almost 2 years ago, is that I have to find new ways to reward my good effort as the financial rewards are now very different. Also, now I have no boss, no team, no divisional business looking to me for guidance or praise. So no wonder I was needing a reset when it came to rewarding good behaviour right..?! This week, I also heard Simon Sinek talk about something similar and I very much agree with his message. Rewarding momentum is a great reframe. Now I reward my consistent efforts with walks, selfish high fives and with consistency of reflections each month to physically write down achievements and momentum in my business ventures. It's important to see how we reward ourselves, and to be honest I didn't give this much thought before I entered the world of owner managed business. Can I invite you to get curious on how you are rewarding yourself right now....
09.01.2022 Recently I was reminded of a powerful book that I read when I came to Australia, some 13 years ago. A book that changed my life in so many ways, and written by a spiritual teacher, Eckhart Tolle. His book The Power of Now was my first experience in recognising that we all have the opportunity and power to actually see and do more inner work in life. It was a book that I devoured and have spent the last decade of my life trying my best to see the beauty in every moment. I can tell you, it's not been easy... Perhaps as you go about your day, take a few moments to look at something that you may have overlooked before. Allow your eyes to rest upon a tree that maybe you haven't looked at or noticed before....Allow the new sight to rest in your gaze and see whether it shows you anything new.
