25.01.2022 Kids Classes At Connie Lichti Ceramics ! Hi Art Families, As you know I have spent the last year almost exclusively working with clay to build my ceramic sculpture skills. I have had the great pleasure of being a student and mentee at the Connie Litchie studio, learning wheel throwing technique, hand-building & glazing.... Connie is an excellent teacher and a ceramics master, and this coming Easter Holidays she will be opening her studio up to children and teens! I will be in there lending a helping hand on the 6th & 9th April. I would love to see some of our LCC crew join in on the fun. The 3.5hr workshops are aimed at students 9-15 years in age specific groups. Whats involved: In the morning - Wheelthrowing: Wheelthrowing is pottery utilizing a potters wheel. During the classes, children will work on a potter's wheel and learn all the different techniques used to make a wheel thrown ceramic piece. Our tools and instructions apply to all ages. Each child, irrespective of age, is allowed full creative freedom with his or her work. In the afternoon - Handbuilding: Handbuilding is the method of manipulating clay using ones hands and hand held tools. Children will use slab, coil and pinch techniques to create and paint a ceramic project of their choice Students will explore the various ways of creating functional and sculptural objects by learning different handbuilding techniques: slabs, coils, and pinched pots will be studied. Its hard to imagine that many of our students at LCC were once this small when they started their art adventures. Its an absolute privilege and pleasure to have students as young as prep age sharing in their passion for art with us.... 15.01.2022 Later Skater- 80's Inspired Skateboard Painting Workshop!!! There is loads of fun to be had recreating simple yet effective 80's patterns with awesome colour palettes to chose from. Each student will use weatherproof paints to paint the base of their skate board inspired by the 80's arts & culture. 12.01.2022 Some very creative little creatures joined us in the studio today. Working with clay, each student hand-built unique flatwares in our Functional Flatware Holiday Program. On the other side of the studio our prep-grade 1 enjoyed making clay figurative sculptures inspired by Where The Wild Things Are. More pics of the the fired works to come!

Today was my first time every assisting at Connie Litchi Ceramics and it was an absolute blast 10 very lucky kids and myself spent 4.5hrs throwing on the wheel and hand-building portraits all guided by our very talented teacher, Connie. Many of the students first timers when it comes to working with clay and they absolutely loved it!!!

02.01.2022 Yesterday was my last hand-building session with @connie_lichti for term one. I gotta tell ya, I have learnt so much from this incredibly talented, generous and kind teacher This is a basic beginners project which was easy and oh-so satisfying to make. I cant wait to share these skills and techniques with my students in term two .
