21.01.2022 From Jaya, Mother to beautiful Freddie . A big thank you to Rhian from @littledreamersbabysleepco for helping me feel human again! Only a week ago, Freddie turned 11 months and was still waking during the night for a bottle. Being on 2 naps meant he was also tagging naps with his sister = no breaks! ... Generally he has been an amazing sleeper so I kept expecting that night feed to drop. Over time as it became a habit, Nic and I got more and more exhausted. As a lot of parents may relate, once the baby goes back to sleep it can be hours before you do again. I am a big fan of the science of infant sleep and truly believe that when there is an issue often the easiest fix is getting help from someone who specialises in the area. I contacted Rhian who suggested a few minor tweaks to his nap schedule. I loved how specific Rhian was with what was going on with Freddie. Her explanation of why we were making each change made it very easy to trust the process. The first night he started sleeping through. With a few hiccups we have stayed consistent and Freddie has learnt how to put him self back to sleep. The added bonus, we now have a time of the day when both kids nap at the same time! So mamas, if you are struggling but like me are thinking "its not really that bad" I highly recommend contacting Rhian. Blissful sleep could be right around the corner. 19.01.2022 She has been absolutely amazing! Goes down for all sleeps super easy and sleeps like a champion... we even need to wake her from her last nap! Ha ha Yesterday arvo we went to a catch up with friends and she even slept in her pram without a fuss at all! This is a big deal for a little girl who only a few days ago hated being in her pram! We cannot believe how quickly she has taken to this new schedule! She is such a happier girl now and even feeding sooooo much better! You ...are a miracle worker! Her Dad is convinced you have swapped our daughter over This is a message I received this morning. I only visited this family on Thursday night. This beautiful 4 mth old baby girl spent naps in her Mum’s arms and woke sometimes every 30-60 minutes overnight. She wasn’t feeding well and her Dad told me she was either asleep or crying, this family was desperate for help. I think the biggest thing we have taken out of this situation is-this baby girl was simply ready for change. She didn’t actually need all of the help she was being given-with a little bit of guidance she’s naturally doing it all by herself. I couldn’t be happier for this family, well done baby girl . . . . . #babysleep #babysleepconsultant #geelongsleepconsultant #sleeptraining #selfsettling #nightwaki g #routine #safesleep #happybaby #fourmonthregression #littledreamersbabysleepco @ Geelong, Victoria
18.01.2022 Are you stuck in your babies/toddlers room for hours every night trying to get them to sleep? It doesn’t need to be like this. 18.01.2022 You know the drill...ask below!!
16.01.2022 Each family I work with will be asked what their goals are for their little person. And although most goals can be reached we need to remember our babies are all different and just like us as adults, they have varied sleep requirements. Whilst I can always tell you what can be achieved provided my advice is consistently followed, we also need to be mindful of unrealistic expectations. For a newborn baby it’s often about creating a good sleep environment and finding your babie...s appropriate wake time that sees improvement. I think the main goal for a newborn baby should be that they are feeding well. If your newborn baby is a settled baby and is gaining weight, your baby is thriving. For 3-6 month old babies I would like to see some form of pattern emerging and a longer stretch of sleep happening at the start of the night. Cat napping is very normal around the 3-4 mth mark and you can begin to work on that now to start getting three nice naps in the day. 2 nights feeds is very normal for a 3 months old and by 6 months aiming for 1 feed. From 6 months some babies are sleeping all night but I certainly don’t have expectations for that. By 9 months when solids are established, in my opinion a baby can sleep all night without a milk feed. But remember not all babies go to bed at 7pm, just as not all babies sleep until 7am. Not all babies have 2 hour naps like the books say they should...and that’s ok. Anything is ok, provided you’re ok with it. Don’t worry about what the other babies at Mother’s Group are doing-we all know one of those Mum’s that stretches the truth about how her baby is sleeping Most importantly-if you are happy, I can guarantee you you’re baby is even happier . . . . . #babysleep #babysleepconsultant #geelongsleepconsultant #sleeptraining #safesleep #sleepenvironment #newborn #nightwaking #nightfeeds #sleepdeprived #mothersgroup #mumlife #littledreamersbabysleepco
16.01.2022 New package added My new follow up support package is for previous clients who are in need of a little extra advice. If we have already been through sleep training together and you have reached your goals, yet you begin to experience sleep troubles again-this is for you. You may be experiencing another sleep regression/nap transition/cot to bed transition and just need to ask a few questions. As part of this plan you can choose either a 30 minute phone call or a chance to ask... questions via email. Instead of muddling you’re way through again, it may be something very simple. 16.01.2022 When a Mum says she’s not feeling herself , it may be an indication that something is not right. This Mum may be screaming for help without anyone hearing her scream. PND isn’t always what you expect it to look or feel like-and everyone’s experience will be different. If you are a part of a new Mum’s support team-please show interest and guidance towards help if needed. And most importantly please don’t brush her feelings off. ... We don’t all like to ask for help but when someone asks us if we would like some extra support, often the weight can feel less heavy once the question is asked. It is so important to be aware of how a new Mother of coping-she may be relying on you to not only hold her baby, but hold her too . . . . . #babysleep #babysleepconsultant #geelongsleepconsultant #pnd #supportingnewmums #postnataldepression #postnatalanxiety #littledreamersbabysleepco

14.01.2022 I think you’d all agree that gone are the days of us Mum’s having our village. Some of us may be lucky enough to have our own Mum’s come and give us a hand when we bring our new baby home but that’s often about it. Well, let me introduce you to Hayley and Natasha @newbornsupport Two sisters, two Mum’s, two early years educators and two pre and post partum doula’s. In other words two angels . They acknowledge that new Mum’s are often struggling and they want to offer that ...extra bit of support and guidance whilst you muddle your way through the newborn days. 14.01.2022 Yes, I’m defined by Motherhood right now. And that’s okay. I’ve waited my whole life for this, to be their Mum. It’s a finite period in my life and I’ve thrown my all into it. My children need me now.... Less so than they did a year ago But more now than they ever will again. Right now they choose me and I am so honoured to be their safe place. And this is the reason why, right here right now, I’m defined by Motherhood #sonnysunshine #agirlnamedflo #ourboyzig See more

14.01.2022 Oliver 5 months This little guy had been sleeping beautifully in his cot...then bang, hello 4 mth regression. All of a sudden naps were always in his Mum’s arms and because Oliver began waking so regularly through the night, his family resorted to co sleeping. We started working together just last week and instantly things improved...both naps and overnight. His parents can’t believe what they have already achieved and say Oliver seems like a different baby, he is just so... much happier. 13.01.2022 Not sleep related, but something just as important when it comes to keeping our babies and children safe. Today would have been our blonde haired, blue eyed beautiful angel Justin’s 33rd birthday. Justy was my cousin, the baby of our family and at 14 months of age we lost him when he was hit by a car in his driveway. The pain his parents went through was something nobody should experience. Sadly, in Australia around 60 children are seriously injured or killed due to drivewa...y accidents each year. Most driveway deaths happen in the child’s very own driveway and the car is usually driven by a parent, relative or family friend. And in most cases, the driver doesn’t know the child is even close to the car-they presume someone is looking after them elsewhere. All cars have a blind spot and sometimes it can be up to 15 meters behind the car. And it’s certainly not just large cars that are involved in these accidents. Children are inquisitive, unpredictable and quick and these factors place children at huge risk around driveways. Three things to keep in mind whilst in your car at home are -supervise-have someone actively supervise the kids if you’re getting into the car -seperate-keep the children away from cars if they’re playing outside -see-always make sure you can see before moving your car, this means walking around the car before hopping in. Let’s keep our little ones safe around our cars. We love you baby boy *this image and story is being shared with permission from my beautiful Aunty.
13.01.2022 When I contacted Rhian, I had a baby who was a serial cat napper and who woke every 1-2 hours through the night. I rocked, shushed, sung, walked around the house for sometimes hours on end - only to end up sitting upright in bed with Sadie on me, my eyes stinging trying to keep them open and being terrified of falling asleep while Sadie slept on me. It got to a point where I was so wound up and anxious that I couldnt sleep even when Sadie was sleeping. As much as I knew I l...oved my baby, i will admit. I was miserable. I had Rhian recommended to me from two different people and I am so thankful I reached out. I was hesitant at first, I had heard such horror stories about 'sleep nannies' and envisioned being told to leave my baby in her cot to cry herself to sleep. Rhian could not have been further from that vision! We booked the phone consult option (stupid covid). Rhian was so easy to chat to over the phone and immediately made me feel heard and supported. By day 3 of using one of Rhian's gentle settling techniques, Sadie was self settling, sleeping through the night, in her own cot and dummy free! Sadie is such a happier baby now and I am a much happier mama. I am so much more resilient if Sadie does have a rough night or fights her naps during the day (although it really doesnt happen often!) Rhian does not have a 'one size fits all' approach, she really listens and tailors an approach that suits you and your family. The support she continues to offer in the days and weeks after is incredible and I could not recommend her anymore highly. Rhian has given us so much more confidence as first time parents and we will be forever grateful! . 12.01.2022 Remy7 weeks old At 5 weeks beautiful little Remy was sometimes napping for 20 minutes at a time. Some days he would be awake from lunch time until 11pm. Now I make it very clear that my expectations aren’t high for a newborn baby and I am a huge believer in nurturing our babies through their Fourth Trimester. But being a first time Mum to an unsettled baby is challenging. Remy’s Mum was provided with some information including recommended awake times/burping tips/a gentle/ha...nds on settling technique and along with her husband, they gave it their best. This week Remy has been napping beautifully and bed time has come forward by hours meaning he is getting so much more restorative sleep. All of this whilst also encouraging his Mum to cuddle and feed Remy when he needs it. Things will change and not all days will be perfect but Mum is more rested and Remy is alot more settled . . . . . #babysleep #babysleepconsultant #geelongsleepconsultant #safesleep #newborn #7weeksold #catnapping #witchinghour #littledreamersbabysleepco See more

10.01.2022 At some stage late in your babies first year you may find that you put them into their cot and a few minutes later they are calling out and standing in their cot. When they first start doing this they will literally have no idea how to get back down, so it almost seems like they are stuck there. Like anything, your baby needs to learn how to get back down. I suggest you give your little one a few minutes if they are not crying. After this go in and help them to lie down and t...hen keep a hand on them whilst kneeling by their cot. If they get up again, this time just kneel by the cot and tap the mattress to encourage them to lie down. In the beginning they literally don’t know that they just have to bend their legs and drop. If we keep doing it for them they won’t have the chance to learn though. If this is happening with your baby I also suggest during the day if they pull themselves up to stand at the couch, instead of sitting them down or lifting them up-sit by them and pat the ground to show them what to do. Like anything this will pass, you’re baby is simply learning a new skill. A skill we need to let them learn . . . . . #babysleep #babysleepconsultant #sleepconsultant #babydevelopment #newskill #nightwaking #selfsettling safesleep #routine #sleeptraining #littledreamersbabysleepco See more
10.01.2022 Early waking can be one of the trickiest things to improve when it comes to your little one’s sleep...and the older they are the harder it becomes. But just like anything, it is certainly possible. This little guy is 12 months old and had been waking at 5am. Mum had tried everything and then reached out. I received this today-... Well you've done it again. I've been away over the weekend which meant 3 nights in the portacot at nan and pops! Not only did he go down super easily for his nan, he slept in till 645 every morning, without a peep overnight! I've pushed his bedtime back till 730/745 and stopped the early morning snuggles in mums bed haha thank you so much. Getting a good night sleep makes such a difference for everyone . . . . . #babysleep #babysleepconsultant #geelongsleepconsultant #earlywaking #routine #safesleep #mumlife #nightwaking #regressions #selfsettling #littledreamersbabysleepco
09.01.2022 I have many families tell me when we begin working together that their baby won’t sleep in the car or the pram. This can cause much frustration for parents as we all know how hard it is to drive with a crying baby in the back. I usually find that the babies who can’t/won’t sleep on the move are babies who have strong sleep associations that they rely on to fall asleep (being fed/rocked/a dummy) but obviously these things can’t always be provided when in the car/pram and you...r baby will let you know about it. These will often change once we work on independent sleep as a baby now knows that if they are tired and have their needs met, that are able to put themselves to sleep. Swipe right to check out this darling little man I recently worked with. A classic case of that baby who couldn’t sleep in the pram...now loves it . . . . . #babysleep #geelongsleepconsultant #sleepconsultant #babynaps #selfsettling #safesleep #routine #nightwaking #littledreamersbabysleepco See more
09.01.2022 Daylight Saving’s can bring about plenty of angst when you have young babies and toddlers, and yes it can cause problems (temporarily). You do not need to do any preparation in the lead up and your little people may not be affected. If there was one thing to suggest though, I would say block out blinds. A darker room may be all you need to avoid late to bed/early wakes. @sleepysundays.co can achieve this easily. If you want to be as prepared as possible you can begin to adju...st your little ones routine in the coming days. Obviously we are putting our clock’s forward next weekend so we will be losing 1 hour of sleep. To prepare your babies circadian rhythm for this change, we want to slowly bring their routine back to compensate for that hour. To do this, wake your baby/put them down for a nap/put them to bed 10 minutes earlier each day. Come next Saturday night a baby on a 7-7 routine will be going to bed at 6pm but seeing they are losing an hour of sleep they will wake at their usual time of 7am as the clock has then changed. And a reminder, you don’t need to do anything if you’d prefer not to-but please make sure you enjoy the occasional dinner time picnic . Live chat tomorrow night at 8pm for any questions you may have x . . . . #babysleep #babysleepconsultant #sleepconsultant #geelongsleepconsultant #sleeptraining #sleepdeprived #daylightsavings #earlywaking #nightwaking #routine #mumlife #blockoutblind #littledreamersbabysleepco See more
08.01.2022 This darling boy just a couple of weeks ago was bit of a night time party animal. His Mum needed to rock him to sleep, naps were in her arms and overnight he would wake 4-5 times. Not anymore, well done Kat and Edward . Just one last message to say thank you - every nap yesterday and today was amazing. We don’t use the dummy anymore and Edward has self settled very quickly every time. He is like a different baby and now I have so much time on my hands - seriously life chan...ging - I can do things with two hands again thanks again and all the best Kat . . . . . #babysleep #babysleepconsultant #geelongsleepconsultant #sleeptraining #nightwaking #selfsettling #safesleep #sleepdeprived #tiredmum #mumlife #littledreamersbabysleepco See more

06.01.2022 It’s coming to an end and my emotions are very mixed. Home schooling has been one heck of a ride-to think I actually wanted to do it permanently before Sonny started school This week and the next two to follow are about the four of us just being us. A Mother and her three children just concentrating on regrouping after many difficult days. I never want to experience what we have again, but over time when all these feelings that this year has brought calm down-I know I will ...look back fondly at the time I had all my babies home with me full time again. After a difficult day I always reminded myself that my family was lucky-my hubby and I had our jobs, our home and our health. I sadly watched on as friends and family suffered through some really difficult times-and it broke our hearts that we couldn’t always be with people that we would normally rush to. With restrictions now easing-I will be working on when I can return to in home consultations and I cannot wait to meet some more beautiful families. We’re almost there Geelong/Victoria-you’re all bloody amazing for getting through this. Now bring on the holidays and not needing to worry about the kids forgetting to mute their Google meet every day Much love, Rhian See more
