25.01.2022 Just to let everyone know that we'll be sitting out the lockdown this coming week. Having run down our packaging at the end of last lockdown, we're not set up for takeaway this weekend & it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to stock up for only a couple of days next week. So be sure to support your local restaurants who have stocked up for Valentine's Day & Chinese New Year & now have stock going to waste, buy some flowers if you can for the same reason & enjoy the corona extra long weekend all

23.01.2022 As the spring warmth vanishes with the memories of the long weekend, and we all get into the groove of "Covid normal" dining out, we wanted to cover off a few reminders. We know this stuff isn't fun & isn't what we want to worry about when we're planning a night out, but it's a really important part of venues staying open. Most of our seating is outdoors, so it's more likely than not that regardless of the weather, that's where you'll be seated. Dressing for the weather is Co...vid normal. Cancellations in the event of torrential rain may occur. It is spring in Melbourne after all Tables are limited, especially larger ones. With only 10 people max in a room & 1.5m between groups, we've realistically only got 1 table that holds more than 4 people and it books out quickly. We won't put the outdoor tables together as that encroaches on the pedestrian zone & makes it difficult for our locals with mobility aids. We know that might seem unusual, but we're conscious of social distancing for your health and ours, and we'll choose our own health over a quick dollar every time. Density & seating limits also mean we often can't add a friend later to the booking, especially on weekends. Covid normal means planning ahead & not squeezing someone in. Sorry. Finally, a reminder that face masks must be worn any time you're not in your seat, including getting up to pay & heading to the bathroom. & While not mandatory, it's also considered really good form to pop you're mask on when talking to your hosts at any venue. We know it doesn't feel natural, but they're interacting with a lot of people each night & we want to look after them so venues stay open. 17.01.2022 Día de Muertos, or Day of the Dead as we know it in Australia. Although we perhaps know it best for the huge festival that takes over the streets and cemeteries of Mexico, is a day to come together, remember & celebrate family and friends that have passed. A day where the dead journey back to join the living, and Mexicans offer up their favourite food, drinks & sentimental items to welcome them back, so that their memories are not forgotten. Last year we had the great pleasur...e of celebrating with our Mexican customers, and while 2020 hasn't quite worked out as we'd have otherwise planned, we didn't want to let the day pass unrecognised. 15.01.2022 After a huge week this week & a late night last night, we woke up this morning to another day, and the news that Melbourne can continue to open up even more over the next few weeks. So as excitement spreads and we all start to plan our next big get together, we wanted to acknowledge that for many smaller venues, including us, this announcement doesn't significantly increase their capacity. As you all know, our place is divided into 3 rooms, and at 1 person per 4sqm, our l...argest room will still be limited to 10 people right the way through summer. Today increased our total capacity by 3. Yup. 3 We're very fortunate to have the friendship & support of our neighbours in Westgarth, allowing us to bring an outdoor dining area that we couldn't have imagined only a few months ago, so we've still got an incredible summer ahead of us. Today is great news for bigger venues, restaurants, cafes & bars with larger spaces that they haven't been able to fully use, and so for hospitality & life in general for all of us. With only half the detail making it to the news & papers with each announcement through this, we wanted to let everyone know that we're not back to filling up rooms yet, and how important it is to keep supporting local small businesses who are still trading at 1/4 to 1/3 of their old capacity. For some more details on the next couple of steps, all business owners should read the latest roadmap update. 12.01.2022 As a result of today's torrential downpour we've been forced to suspend bookings early for today so that we can get everyone that has already booked under cover. We may have some late indoor availability for walk-ins, otherwise if the weather clears up enough (or you don't mind braving it), plenty of space under the veranda on the street. We'll post an update later today if things improve. Sorry everyone, it's obviously painful for us to have to do on a Friday night, but with most of our seats street-side, sometimes this summer of outdoor dining thing doesn't quite work out

04.01.2022 Thank you all so much for the support over the last few weeks. Your love of great food & pretty damn tasty margaritas has been overwhelming Just to save you a phone call, we're booked out again tonight. Friday & Saturday nights book out pretty quickly, so it pays to plan ahead. Note also that we're now only taking bookings via our website. We don't answer the phone during service as we simply don't have enough seats to have someone dedicated to reception (it rings constantl...y), and we're pretty flat out getting people fed. To be perfectly honest, paying someone to say "sorry, we're full" all night doesn't make a lot of business sense If our website is showing we're fully booked, I'm afraid it really does mean we don't have any spots available. We look forward to seeing you on another night We do close bookings earlier in the day so we can manage prep for our set menu, but may have some availability for walk-ins Tuesday-Thursday. If you haven't booked ahead, you can pop down to find out, but it's very much dependent on space & stock availability. No promises For booking changes, leave a message & we'll get back to you as soon as practical (usually the following day we're open).
