25.01.2022 Inspired by Masterchef, I tried my hand at tempering chocolate. I made these jumbo chocolate freckles last night. I'm pleased to report they were a success, nice and glossy with a satisfying crack when bitten into. My boys certainly enjoyed devouring them!

25.01.2022 I spent a fun evening on Friday making this little creation for a five year old who loves Lego and Batman. What five year old little boy doesn't?! The cake is complemented with fondant lego blocks (the coloured fondant blobs are designed to hold the candles in place for the party).

24.01.2022 This posting on Sharon Wee Creations is a big part of what has inspired me to move further with my cake decorating. This was a minion cake I made for my son's third birthday. It was twelve months ago now, but the very kind comments it received inspired me to see what else I can do. I'm grateful to everybody that took the time to leave such lovely comments.

24.01.2022 Does anybody else have a family member obsessed with their iPhone? My husband's obsession inspired this cake for his birthday. The app icons are made from modelling chocolate and were a lot of fun to make. I had to pinch his phone and take photos of his home screens so I could copy the app icons. It provided hours of entertainment!

23.01.2022 Cookies inspired by Toothless, also for my six year old's birthday party. I used a handmade stencil and icing sugar to guide the outline (as you can see in the first photo), before piping the royal icing. It took some time, but it was worth it. The icing sugar was easily removed with a clean paintbrush.

22.01.2022 I love Christmas and all of the fun and excitement it brings to the home. I find myself spending so many hours in the kitchen, baking treats for family and friends. This year I have loved baking and decorating Christmas gingerbread. I don't know about you, but for me, it doesn't seem like Christmas until the kitchen smells of gingerbread and shortbread! Happy Christmas everybody...stay tuned for some Christmas treats for the grown ups!

14.01.2022 Cake number two for my little four year old. This one was a sprinkle cake with Swiss buttercream and rainbow layers inside. I made this one for him to take to pre-school so unfortunately I didn't get any photos of the inside. But suffice to say, there were no complaints! And both my boys loved it, as you can see from the second photo!

14.01.2022 Who doesn't love that happy little snowman Olaf?! This weekend I got my first chance to make an Olaf cake topper for a client whose daughter was turning four. I was really happy with the end result, hope you like him too!

13.01.2022 I feel like I hit a major milestone last night...100 likes for Little Gem! Thank you so much to all of you, I really appreciate all of your support and hope I can help you out with a cake soon! xx

13.01.2022 One of my all time favourites, a minion from Despicable Me. I made this for my son's 3rd birthday and had an absolute ball making it. On the day of his birthday, I caught him getting up close to the minon and having a little chat to him! Too cute.

13.01.2022 Happy Australia Day!! We're celebrating with a slight twist on an Aussie favourite - lamingtons. Yum! However you're celebrating, have a wonderful day.

12.01.2022 Last week I spent an enjoyable couple of days creating a colourful two tier birthday cake for a brother and sister (aged between 6-8). It was a lot of fun to work with the bright colours and integrating both names into the design! The final result was a fun and simple design that can be tailored to match the colour scheme of any party.

11.01.2022 Any mums out there with sons will recognise this little guy as Kai, the red ninja from Ninjago! I made this for my son's 4th birthday, it was a big hit and lots of fun to make too. You'll notice there is a little piece of lego missing from one of the blocks...the birthday boy swiped it!

10.01.2022 Last weekend's creation was a simple, charming christening cake for a little boy. A lovely style chosen by his mother, I really like its simplicity and those gorgeous little feet. The first photo shows how it was packaged, the second was kindly supplied by my lovely client, once the cross was added at the venue. Hope you all like it!

07.01.2022 A few weeks back I made a cute little Humpty Dumpty cake topper for a client to add to her daughter's first birthday cake. Today I was very pleased to receive a photo of the finished cake and wanted to share it with you all. It's so nice to see how the topper looked on the day. And I think she did a wonderful job making and covering the cake too! And another way to use those cute little toadstools!

05.01.2022 Toothless cake for my six year old's How to Train Your Dragon party.

04.01.2022 One of my favourite cakes! This was made for my in-laws on their 50th wedding anniversary. They were after a funny cake and my husband and I felt this was perfect. It's a personal joke between the four of us that they like to fall asleep on the couch, my mother-in-law with needle poised in her hand as she quilts! This kept me and my husband very amused while I modelled his parents!

04.01.2022 I usually don't post more than a couple of photos of my cakes, but I can't help but show a few images of the cakes I made over the weekend. These were created for a little boy who was turning three and loves Lightning McQueen! While the treads on the tires were very time consuming (and turned my fingers black!), I was really happy with how it all came together. The final photos show how the cake was displayed on the day, with toy cars which were added by my lovely client.

03.01.2022 Birthday cake I made for my mother-in-law's birthday. Chocolate fondant with super-sized white rose! I really like the simplicity of this cake, very classic.

02.01.2022 Happy new year everybody! I just thought I'd share this with you. I recently made these cute little fondant toadstools for a friend to put on the top of her daughter's first birthday cake. The theme was Enchanted Forest. They sat on top of a Hummingbird cake (yummo) with some little vintage style elves. For the sake of the photos, I have sat them on some shredded coconut that I dyed green. Such a cute and simple little idea.
