25.01.2022 A massive thank you to all those who attended our annual Christmas concert and graduation ceremony. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. From the team at Little Green Treehouse :)

24.01.2022 Come down to Priceline North Rocks on September 20th, for a fund raiser in aid of the farmers. 100% of proceeds and donations go directly to the farmers. They also have a donation drive for toiletries and other essential personal items.

24.01.2022 With lots of children at home from school and daycare at the moment, it's even more important to take care when reversing out of driveways. So remember to look out for children and always check your blind spots. Theyre counting on you. #ContinueTowardsZero

23.01.2022 Dear Little Green Treehouse community, We are devastated to hear of the incident that has affected the Abdullah family in the late hours of Saturday. Michael and Alex who were formerly under our care, have lost their 2 beautiful sisters and older brother to a horrific accident last night. ... Our staff have been privileged to meet the whole Abdallah family and it is of heavy heart to hear the sad news. There has been a tremendous expression of emotion within our centre in response to the news. The thoughts and prayers of our community are deeply appreciated during this tragic time. Danny and Leila, know that you have a community behind you to support you and help you in any way we can. Regards, Management at Little Green Tree House

21.01.2022 On Wednesday 15th of August, Little Green Treehouse celebrated Indian Independence Day. We had a special guest attend the centre, the mum of one of our preschool children to give a presentation about this important day. The preschoolers were taught: - India as a country - Went through the presentation to talk more about independence day, the national flag/bird/animal/flower. - The children were shown the Indian coins, Rupees.... - Our special guests sang the Indian patriotic song, Insaaf ki dagar pe. - All the children and teachers danced to the bollywood songs. They were taught some cool moves. - Teachers dressed up in traditional Indian attire. - Our guest drew beautiful heena on the hands of the children and teachers. Thank you to our special parent who put together this great presentation! We also made vegetarian Dahl with fresh naan bread and enjoyed the amazing spices and flavours for lunch. We finished off our day with painting the flag with the traditional colours.

20.01.2022 Diwali is called the Festival of Lights and is celebrated to honor Rama-chandra, the seventh avatar. It is believed that on this day Rama returned to his people after 14 years of exile during which he fought and won a battle against the demon king, Ravana. At Little Green Treehouse we immerse ourselves in all the cultures that enrich our curriculum. These cultures play an important role in understanding and respecting one another as members in a diverse world. Happy Diwali!

15.01.2022 On Tuesday the 3rd of July we had a special visitor come into our Philosophers room, Miss Joanne Laoulach. A nutritionist, children's book author and Yogi. Miss Joanne is the author of one of our favourite books "Energetic Ebony and Lazy Luke". Miss Jo read the story to the children. Throughout the story the children were filled with many questions. Miss Jo asked "why is ebony strong?". "Because she eats healthy food" Jeremy said. "Why is Luke not strong and have no energy?..." Miss jo asked. "Because he is eating lots of bad food" Claudia said. Miss Jo pointed out to all the healthy and unhealthy foods in the book. "Healthy food is capsicum and pear" said Jaden. "Hot chips, milkshakes, donuts, chocolate and chips are unhealthy foods" said Jacob. "I have a super mighty con inside me too!" said Kian. Afterwords, miss Jo did a yoga session with the children. Did you know that our menu is also nutritionally approved by Joanne?

15.01.2022 From the moment of birth onward, information comes into the brain through firsthand experiences with things, people, and feelings, depending entirely on the senses of vision, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. The brain adds the information to what it already knows. In Piagets words, the brain continually assimilates and accommodates itself to the new idea. However, for several more years children continue to depend to a large degree on their senses and firsthand experiences for learning. Therefore, A stimulating, sensory environment is likely to make a significant difference in a persons lifelong learning ability. At Little Green Treehouse we continuously set sensory experiences that both stimulate the brain and encourage social play. Not only is it really fun but it also encourages lifelong friendships <3

07.01.2022 The staff at Little Green Treehouse Early Education Centre have stepped up to walk for Autism. We've stepped up to help create a world where no-one on the autism spectrum is left behind. Well be challenging ourselves to each walk 10,000 steps a day for 8 days while raising much needed funds to support people on the autism spectrum. An estimated 1 in every 70 people is on the spectrum. Along with their family members, this means autism is a part of daily life for over a mill...ion Australians. People on the spectrum see, hear, feel and experience the world differently. For many, simply coping with the everyday can lead to confusion, anxiety and isolation. By coming together and taking action, we can help provide opportunities for people on the autism spectrum to participate, engage and thrive in the world around them. Help make our steps count and show your support by donating today! https://www.walkforautism.org.au//littlegreentreehouseearl

06.01.2022 On the 23rd of October, Little Green Treehouse had their annual 'Rise of the buns' bake sale! Each room baked two dishes the day prior, we receive plenty of generous donations from parents and local businesses (big shout out to Priceline pharmacy- north rocks and Woolworths-Cherrybrook). Our preschoolers were outside in the carpark selling the cupcakes and learning how to add and subtract as each customer purchased from them. Children dressed up as farmers and donated a 5er f...or a farmer. We engaged in farmer activities centre wide such as making a scarecrow, learning about what food comes from a farm by cutting out of the Coles and Woolworths magazines and finally, the importance of taking care of our farmers and their farms. All proceeds were donated to buy a bale. We raised over $1000. Great job team Treehouse!!! Thank you to everyone who visited the stall and donated a dish. See more

04.01.2022 Here at Little Green Treehouse we're taking extra measures to ensure the children are practising and understanding proper hygiene practices. This has been addressed through delivering different learning experiences. During outdoor play, the children were involved in a glove washing experience as well as washing pepper off their hands using soap and water to clean their hands. We have also been taking all the children through step by step procedures on how to wash their hands in the bathroom to ensure they understand the proper procedures of effective hand washing. We will continue to implement experiences and practices that are centred around effective hygiene practices as advised by the NSW health and federal government.

03.01.2022 This is my little family on holiday to Spain back in June. The sunflower lanyard around my neck is not a new fashion trend. This is a symbol at airports to aler...t staff that a passenger has a hidden disability and may need adjustments made for them. For example at Malaga airport a security guard spotted the lanyard around my neck and escorted us straight through to special assistance so that we didnt have to queue to get through security. For children who like to line things up ironically a lot of autistic children find queuing impossible. Supermarkets are now trialling the use of sunflowers lanyards too. I hope that more places will follow suit. My message is if you see someone wearing a sunflower lanyard just be aware that they or someone with them may have a hidden disability. They may not be throwing a tantrum because they didnt get to have a biscuit. They are likely having a complete sensory meltdown - not by choice but because they are overwhelmed. Perhaps you could do a good deed and allow them to jump ahead of you in the queue. Or allow them a little more space. Im not saying we need preferential treatment or to bend the rules - I am saying sometimes small adjustments can and should be made and will go a long way to making that familys experience a little easier that day. Please tell people about the sunflower lanyard scheme - sharing is caring. And the more people who are aware the more awareness will be raised. #autism #autismawareness #mumofautisticboy #hiddendisability ***EDIT*** I did not expect this post to be shared so many times! Really I thought it would be a case of sharing some awareness amongst my friends and family. Ive had messages from people in Ireland, USA and Canada. Please find this link to how you can get your lanyard. https://www.facebook.com/Hidden-Disabilities-Sunflower-Lanyards-Scheme-101179737927423/?modal=admin_todo_tour Sadly I feel I need to make this plea - please please dont take advantage of this scheme if you dont need it. Its not a queue jump or a VIP treatment. It is minor adjustments for those who actually NEED them. If my son was not struggling I would not expect adjustments to be made and we would queue as normal. Please dont abuse this system. Its not fair on those who need it.
