Vegemite has been a huge part of Aussie culture for many years now so its hard for us to say this but... ... did you know that it contains 150C (Caramel 111 Artificial Colour Dark Brown to Black)? This is what gives vegemite its black colour. 150C is thought to be genetically modified and prepared from ammonia compounds which has been linked to gastrointestinal problems and liver problems and is recommended to be avoided in food for i...nfants! (Source The Chemical Maze Bill Statham) Its also what they use to colour coca-cola! 22.01.2022 Not sure how to make this Zucchini Chickpea Soup look as good as it tastes!! So youll just have to trust us that its a winner! Our health has improved so much since we started eating as a family, at the same time as the kids, rather than eating after the kids go to bed. So its gold to find meals which we can all enjoy together and saves me having to make more than one dinner each night. This recipe ticks all the boxes: organic, plant-based, easy and quick to make, freezes... well, within budget, easily accessible ingredients, kids love it and delicious for parents too! A lovely friend of ours, Susan, shared this recipe with us and weve been making it regularly ever since! Indigo even asked for it as her birthday dinner this year 1x 400g can organic chickpeas, 2-3 medium potatoes, 400g baby zucchini (courgettes), 1 brown onion, 2 cloves of garlic, 1 bunch broccolini, 250g organic fusilli pasta, 1/2 cup organic olive oil, 1.5L of vegetable stock, juice of 1 small lemon, 2 teaspoons fresh dill, 2 teaspoons fresh thyme, grated grana padano cheese and organic black pepper. Heat olive oil in large saucepan or soup pot and add diced onion, cook until soft and add garlic. Add potatoes, broccolini and zucchini and stir to coat with oil. Add stock, chickpeas, herbs and lemon juice and bring to boil. Once boiling add pasta and cook until al dente, but remember to check that potato is cooked too. Add black pepper and grana padano before serving *this particular cheese is AMAZING paired with this dish, so if you are not strictly dairy-free I definitely recommend a trip to the deli to get some of this to bring it to the next level! 16.01.2022 It’s been one of those afternoons that go a bit pear shaped. The house was upside down, the three year old was in meltdown mode and needed to go to bed and I was after a super quick dinner with lots of veggies. 05.01.2022 How good is a long weekend? Especially one with an extra day! Hopefully it will give us all the opportunity to slow down, be present and enjoy some connection time with friends and family. We feel like we actually kick started the celebrations off on Wednesday after participating in a beautiful tea ceremony (thanks again to Matt). ... Our boys attend the Born Wise program once a week facilitated by the incredible Gill, and the tea ceremony was organised for all the kids. After they all had their tea (it was so cool to watch how engaged they were) they shared this colourful platter. Platters work so well for kids, especially when they’re arranged with love and intention. Pack them full of nourishing fruits and veggies and scatter through some dried fruit, bliss balls, nuts or crackers. Add a few flowers or petals and it becomes a piece of art!
