23.01.2022 I'm so pleased to have Blue Mouse Technologies as one of the featured businesses in The Covid Tales. When I photographed Kirt and Elizabeth they said "Our biggest challenge during the Covid-19 pandemic has been keeping up with demand! We have been flat out helping people get set up to work from home, plus lots of upgrades and repairs. Sourcing supplies has been extremely difficult because most IT parts and equipment come from overseas and our supply chains are still not fully... operational. I have been working a lot of overtime to keep up with demand and I really miss having some time off over the weekend." Thank you to businesses like Blue Mouse Technologies who have helped us with our tech needs. I think we've all appreciated technology over the past few months, as a way to keep in touch with our loved ones and maintain a connection with the outside world. It was a pleasure to meet Kirt and Elizabeth and hear their unique story. Not only have we captured their experience for future generations, they now have some fabulous new images to use on their website and social media. <3 Need some new pro images for your business? 23.01.2022 When I photographed Amber and Jo of The Infant Boutique for The Covid Tales, they said "Thank goodness for our lovely customers who have been so understanding and supportive. Walk-in trade has virtually disappeared as fewer people seem to feel comfortable browsing in stores and we have had to change the way we source and purchase our stock, which will hopefully have a positive impact on our business in the future. However, we are hopeful of a baby boom within six to nine mo...nths after the restrictions and shutdowns!" Do you need updated images for your business website or social media? Sign up for The Covid Tales now to receive your package of digital images PLUS you'll be featured in this historic tribute to Adelaide business owners. 22.01.2022 {LITTLE OAK STUDIO COVID-19 UPDATE} So as most of you would probably know, there will be a state lockdown from midnight tonight. Please bare with me as I contact everyone and let you all know what will happen with any sessions you have booked in the next week or so. Thank you for your understanding <3

20.01.2022 When I photographed Maggie of Adelaide Bakes for The Covid Tales she said: "When everything shut down, I had to suspend hands-on classes. It forced me to take the business in a new direction with a digital membership and online classes. Many people were facing an uncertain future with job losses, home schooling and trying to navigate ever-changing restrictions so I did lose some members. I still needed to pay rent and overheads for my studio, so I had to find ways to provide ...affordable membership options. I had so many ideas for face-to-face classes and hands-on bootcamps which are on hold right now, but this has really pushed me to think outside the box and come up with online offers. I am excited about the potential to reach a wider audience by maintaining an online offer in the future, as well as expanding further into coaching other baking business owners and helping them achieve growth." So many of the business owners participating in The Covid Tales have had to adapt their business model. It's really lovely to see people like Maggie successfully pivoting and continuing to find opportunities despite the challenges. Ready to tell your business story? 19.01.2022 When I photographed Kathryn of Dean Family Real Estate - Kathryn Dean - Rla290388 for The Covid Tales she said: "As a relatively young business, we had built some fantastic momentum and I was feeling confident in our future when Covid-19 hit. Listings came to a grinding halt and I wondered if the business would survive. There were lots of restrictions around open inspections, which made the process of selling a house more time-consuming. We are starting to see the market impr...ove, but it is a long way from where it was at the beginning of the year. My confidence in the business is returning, as people start to feel safe again and enquiries are picking up. It has given me a new perspective and a new vision for my business which is exciting. I also feel that our community has become more supportive of small, home-based businesses and we are focused on growing, but also maintaining our health, happiness and a good work/life balance." 18.01.2022 I recently visited Amber at Mindful Pathways to photograph her and her business for The Covid Tales. Amber said "To an outside observer it may have seemed that Covid-19 had minimal impact on our business but behind the scenes we were working incredibly hard to ensure the practice remained viable. We had to navigate constantly changing government policies and help our clients adapt to therapy delivered remotely using unfamiliar technology. Covid-19 hit before South Australians... could even begin to recover from the devastating bushfires, and so we are now assisting clients to process more cumulative trauma and fear than ever experienced in recent history." Taking care of our mental health has been so important over the past few months. Thank goodness for businesses like Mindful Pathways remaining accessible and providing much-needed support. I'm so pleased that Amber chose to document her experience in The Covid Tales AND she now has some gorgeous new professional photos to use on her website and social media. 16.01.2022 When I photographed Andrew Costello (better known as Cosi) of South Aussie with Cosi for The Covid Tales he said: "We had to cancel film shoots when the Covid-19 pandemic first hit. Many of our advertising clients were impacted, but we stayed really focused on trying to support South Australian businesses as much and donated $150,000 worth of airtime to local businesses to try and help. We have a really loyal community on Facebook and Instagram, and it has been heart-warming ...to see how passionately they have supported local business in our regional areas. We have had to be flexible and deal with lots of challenges as a business, but we are still here and committed to helping the South Australian economy recover by showcasing the fantastic regions in our own backyard. There is a huge opportunity to help people discover the wonders of South Oz while interstate and international travel is cancelled. Life may not be as stable as it once was, but thats all part of the fun!" Thanks for taking part in The Covid Tales Cosi, as a local South Australian business I definitely appreciate your support! 14.01.2022 Leath Margrie of LM: Finance: the Lending Therapist is another one of the businesses participating in The Covid Tales project. When I photographed Leath he said I have been really busy keeping up with the various government announcements about stimulus packages and changes to lender policies, so I can continue helping my clients understand what options are available to them. Some of my clients have been significantly impacted financially, and it has been very satisfying t...o be able to help them find solutions. I have really missed being able to catch up with people over coffee to discuss their options. I hope that Leath is feeling caffeinated again now that some restrictions have been lifted! Leith is another service-based business owner who has been busy helping others find solutions to often complex problems over the past few months. Do you know an Adelaide business owner who should participate in The Covid Tales? 12.01.2022 A beautiful little family on a beautiful evening!

12.01.2022 When I photographed Tammy of Tammy's Table by Tammy Edwards for The Covid Tales she said: "Tammys Table is an inclusive and supportive community for like-minded business owners. My members come together for a two-hour meeting each month to share their experiences and knowledge, celebrate their achievements and help each other build better businesses. Not being able to hold face-to-face meetings was an enormous challenge, but I switched to Zoom which at least kept the conne...ctions going at a time when people really needed that support. Personally, I found this really draining. As an extrovert, I draw energy from having people around me and I really missed the personal contact. Especially hugs!" It was lovely to photograph Tammy in her element, face-to-face with her members. Best of all, she now has some fabulous new images to use on her website and social media. Thinking about signing up for The Covid Tales? I've opened up extra places in the schedule, so book here now: www.thelittleoakstudio.com.au/the-covid-tales

10.01.2022 Say hello to Alyssa of Blitz FCD Studios - Fitness Cheer & Dance! When I photographed Alyssa she said "Our business was heavily impacted because we rely on socialisation and bringing athletes together. Our staff worked incredibly hard to support our athletes and their families by offering live and pre-recorded Zoom classes. We also created online cooking classes, social media challenges, printable activities, home training programmes and provided equipment hire. It took a hug...e effort to set up, but it helped keep our athletes and families engaged and we received amazing support in return." I love that businesses like Alyssa's were able to maintain a close connection with their customers even though they were effectively shut down. It is an honour to document these stories in The Covid Tales and I'd love to include YOUR business. As a bonus, every Covid Tales package gives you a selection of digital images you can use on your website and social media. I've just opened up more time slots, so book now before they disappear: https://www.thelittleoakstudio.com.au/the-covid-tales?

07.01.2022 When I visited Mark at Photographyroom to photograph him for The Covid Tales, he said I was in Sydney the weekend the world changed, and I even watched with surprise as the Ruby Princess docked in Sydney Harbour on that fateful day. I isolated for two weeks when I returned to South Australia and the following weeks were spent dealing with nervous clients and handling many cancellations. My business had been doing well, and it felt like I went from hero to zero overnight. It... was an interesting experience taking photos of another photographer! It was a pleasure photographing Mark and Im so pleased he decided to document his experience in The Covid Tales. Mark works predominantly with dogs and wine, a winning combination! Im sure I speak for many of us when I say thank goodness for our pets over the past few months. Our furry friends have provided much-needed emotional support and have made an appearance in quite a few of The Covid Tales images. <3 Would you like to be able to update your website and social media with professional photos? 05.01.2022 Ahhhhhh this makes my heart melt!! Fay & Ben asked me to keep their special secret to myself until now :P They tied the knot surprising Ben's parents who thought they were "going out for lunch" and had a guest appearance from Fay's dad over in the UK via Face-time. I just absolutely love how they've pulled this off! Congratulations again newlyweds

05.01.2022 When I photographed Kristi of Mobile ID Cards for The Covid Tales she said: "When Covid first hit I was riddled with anxiety about what the future would hold. My business provides me not only with an income, but also a sense of achievement. For the first time I wondered if my business would remain viable. Luckily, I was able to leverage my online presence and attract new customers needing ID cards to prove they were essential workers. The requirement for a physical ID card in... the middle of a pandemic was a real eye-opener into how my business could be of benefit to other South Australian businesses. I have grown so much as a business owner. I have had to become tougher, think, adapt, and take a new leap, which I am proud of. The impact on my business overall has been quite positive, but it has made me much more future-focused. I am now conscious of looking for ways to adapt when there are changes in the world, whether that be because of something like a pandemic or advances in technology." 03.01.2022 Just LOVE the simplicity of this image Are you 'Yes Prop' or 'No Prop' kinda person?

03.01.2022 When I photographed Natasha of Tashly Consulting for The Covid Tales she said: "We work in a small office space and had to start working from home when social distancing rules were implemented for workplaces. Our business is very technology based and we already had fantastic IT systems in place, but it was tricky managing phone calls and making sure clients were reaching the right person. The team is adaptable and rose to every challenge brilliantly, supporting each other and... our clients through a stressful period. We also had to learn about JobKeeper and other stimulus package elements in a short timeframe with minimal information, so we could guide our clients through the process. Our Xero training is usually held face-to-face, but we switched to Zoom and found this is a popular option. It means we can offer training to rural, remote, and interstate clients which has enabled us to expand into a broader market. We also decided it was time to move into a larger space, so that if social distancing came back, we could continue to work in the office together rather than from home." Want to join Natasha in this historic project? 02.01.2022 When I photographed Jacque and Jeff at Little Known Boutique Cafe for The Covid Tales they said: "Two months after we opened in April 2019, we had an underground fire which left us without power for three weeks. We almost lost everything but managed to survive only to be hit by the Covid-19 pandemic less than a year later. We had to switch to offering takeaway only during the shutdown period which had a big impact. Our space is quite small so even when restrictions started to... be lifted 90% of our business was still coming from takeaway sales. Weve been home schooling our daughter for the past two years so were used to spending all of our time together as a family, but weve really missed being able to sit down and have a chat with our customers." Based in Yankalilla on the Fleurieu Peninsula, Jacque and Jeff are a great example of business owners who have had to be incredibly resilient to survive the many challenges thrown at them. Please call in and see them if you're in the area and #supportlocal Is it time to tell your Covid-19 business story? 02.01.2022 When I photographed Carly of SA Woman Australia for The Covid Tales she said: "I was in my final few weeks of maternity leave when Covid-19 hit. It meant I had to return for a little bit to keep my business going and ensure we had support in place for our members, many of whom were hit hard. We lost some members and supported others with free or reduced memberships to get them through. My husband and I also have a group outdoor personal training business, which we effectively... lost overnight. That was scary as it is our main income stream, but we pivoted and managed to keep the business going. I worry that we will not see the full impact on businesses until JobKeeper ends. Realistically I am anticipating a drop in revenue in both businesses over the next 12 months. But as a family we are now clearer on what we want and what our priorities are, including maintaining a better work/life balance than we had before." As a member of SA Woman myself, I can certainly attest to the magnificent level of support provided by the community during Covid-19. If you'd like to join Carly and 94 other South Australian businesses and have your story preserved as part of history, sign up to The Covid Tales now: www.thelittleoakstudio.com.au/the-covid-tales
