24.01.2022 Music and maths are highly intertwined. By understanding beat and rhythm, children are learning how to divide, create fractions, and recognize patterns. Today we had a lot of fun in our preschool class recognising rhythms on various flash cards. 20.01.2022 Check out a preview of this beautiful piece of music, composed by our student Cate! At just 8 years old, Cate composed this entire piece, wrote it out by hand, AND wrote it up on the #scorecreator app all by herself. Cate named this piece Carrickalinga Waves, after one of her favourite holiday destinations. The peaceful melody definitely stirs up images of a seaside getaway. I love hearing students’ compositions, and seeing their creativity flow in so many different ways. 10.01.2022 Here’s a fun music memory card game the students like to play at the end of their lesson. Normally, the cards are flipped over and the students have to find the symbol and it’s matching word. This is a great way to reinforce various signs and symbols that they use in their music, as well as exercising important cognitive functions such as memory. Laura plays on the piano either high or low sounds, and the children use colourful streamers to physically communicate what they are hearing.
