11.01.2022 Rabbit update: we've been working really hard writing new original songs and tunes for our debut album ... it's all coming together and sounding great! We'll have a few sneaky live run-throughs of the new material in gigs in and around town before we head into the studio next month so keep an eye out ... first sneaky gig is this Saturday night at the Radio Springs Hotel, Lyonville.
11.01.2022 As many of you would have picked up I'm sure, I like to do the odd informal album/artist review, in the hopes that one day, I might find a way to make a living ...or even just a solid reputation out of it! I've got some musical cred after all, including a fair amount of formal training. Tonight I'd like to reflect on the magical creation that is Little Rabbit's latest offering. This has been a while in coming, as while I have listened to bits and pieces of the album, and seen a couple of live performances they have done in which most album tracks were featured, I haven't until now, sat down and taken the time to digest the album as a whole. Well, let me say first off that these days, I rarely sit down and listen to albums entirely the way through. I usually flick through and over time, I develop favourite tracks. Not so with this gem! Every track has its sphere of magic! Each of the three group members brings a unique voice and a stunning gift of musicianship! The songs are beautifully crafted, the instruments played to perfection, and the vocals deliver the intent of the songs beautifully. These guys are up there with Mustard Courage as one of the two or three best bluegrass/Americana bands in Australia, if not the world! Of course I've got favourite tracks and vocals, but I don't want to bias this review in any way, because every track is simply marvelous! Not to mention the masterful playing of all three members. Technically the album is superb, and there is also the haunting emotions conveyed by every track! I say this as someone who pursued classical piano nearly as far as I could, and who has attempted to blend craftsmanship and technique with realism and raw feeling as a musician. Well done guys, and sorry it's taken me so long to get to writing down what I always thought! If you haven't got yourself a copy, of this majestic album, go get one! See more
