24.01.2022 DIY TILING If you love penny-rounds, be inspired by this transforming project I did for the August @bunnings magazine. To DIY, I took an old wardrobe door (the one in the 'before' image!), worked out a pattern in contrasting mosaics and practiced cutting them before adhering with tile mastic. I applied grout then finished with @bondall.au natural-look sealer. I especially like how the aluminium flat bar around the edges adds a professional touch See how you can DIY via the link in my bio. @ Little Red Industries

23.01.2022 MY DIY DECK The Good Times Decking panels simply drop in and fit so nicely! Although there are 600 holes to countersink and install with ITW Proline TRADE stainless steel decking screws. A job made easier with RYOBI and Empire Tools.

22.01.2022 What is it about penny-round tiles? They're timeless, tactile and actually quite easy to work with once you've mastered the art of cutting them See how I transformed an old wardrobe door into a designer mirror in the August issue of @bunnings magazine via my link in bio. @ Little Red Industries

21.01.2022 DIY TIP While applying pre-mixed grout to my tiled hearth I used an @irwintoolsanz quick-grip clamp and simply pulled the trigger to squeeze the bottle Check out Stories for the 10-second video or link through my bio for the full how-to video. @ Little Red Industries

21.01.2022 1-HOUR DIY I made this sweet midcentury style stand by creating a base for a store-bought terrazzo planter. The tools and materials are pretty basic, but the trick is to use a varnish like @monocel.timbercare to prevent moisture damage to the timber See how easy it is to DIY (and the video) via my link in bio.

20.01.2022 How I make the fabulously big Giant Chalkboards - using @bondall.au Bondcrete and many @irwintoolsanz corner clamps.

19.01.2022 SPOT THE DIFFERENCE In my living room you may notice there is now... an elegant @scandia_australia Edge 50 wood heater replacing the old rusted one a modern hearth of white subway tiles instead of broken slate (more on how to DIY later) lovely bright flooring by @afs_flooring from @bunnings that I installed after pulling up the old lino the bedroom door moved to the left... new wall clad in fresh @easycraft.panels that hides a built-in wardrobe for the bedroom behind I’ve totally transformed the space with simple DIY projects. See how I knocked out the wall and moved the door via link in bio. @ Little Red Industries See more

18.01.2022 I've been building lots of plinths lately and it seems nesters are inspired to elevate treasured objects that evoke emotional responses by putting them on a pedestal (such as my collection of @heathceramics vessels) So how high would you go and which would you choose - black, white or natural? Click through my link in bio to place an order. @ Little Red Industries

17.01.2022 METAL REVAMP I've found that vintage garden chairs like this one can survive the test time structurally, although the timber slats eventually rot away. I used @bondall.au Ranex Rustbuster to treat surface rust on the metal frame then repainted it in @whiteknightpaints Rust Guard Epoxy Enamel. To replace the slats I used reclaimed fence pickets, sanded and sealed them in @monocel.timbercare clear varnish then reassembled the chair with stainless steel fasteners. See how I did it via the link in my bio to the September @bunnings magazine.

17.01.2022 From workshop to play space! Love seeing my Giant Chalkboard in-situ Thanks to @thegroveacademy for sharing this gorgeous pic of their new Bexley childcare facility See how I made it via my link in bio. @ Little Red Industries

16.01.2022 I love reviving vintage pieces with a modern twist to be relevant again, which is often achieved by simply changing the colour (swipe to see the before!). For this garden chair, I treated the surface rust on the metal frame with @bondall.au Rustbuster then painted it in a lovely flat white @whiteknightpaints Rust Guard. Sealing the reclaimed timber in @monocel.timbercare varnish adds a moisture barrier while giving a tactile finish. The end result is bright, clean and r...efreshed. 14.01.2022 I used the simple @multistoresolutions flatpack system to build the joinery for #mydiyreno wardrobe and did the entire install in a day! My trick for speedy assembly is to use a @ryobiau impact driver. I also used @bondall.au adhesive to reinforce the drawer fronts and secure the dowels, which is an important step to add a little extra stability. I also swapped out the supplied handles for timber postbox handles from @bunnings Click through my link in bio to see the full project with DIY tips and a short video that reveals how I used a hat shelf to create hidden storage!

14.01.2022 Happy how this plinth turned out! It’s finished in @monocel.timbercare walnut to protect the timber from vase or plant spills

14.01.2022 HOW TO DIY I used fibre cement sheeting to make this concrete-look bench for the September @bunnings magazine. Simply clamp a straightedge to the sheet then use a knife to score the cut, running it over the line to make a groove, then pull up to snap and neaten the edge. For the full how-to instructions to DIY, click through my link in bio. @ Little Red Industries

14.01.2022 ... and then I built a deck! The modular Good Times Decking system is so well put together that it takes just one weekend and there’s no concreting or tricky posts to install. Love it.

14.01.2022 For #mydiyreno customised robe I chose @multistoresolutions VJ grooved sliding doors so they would blend with the lovely @easycraft.panels on the wall. Painting them both in @porterspaints Popcorn streamlines the small room to make it feel brighter and bigger. To paint the doors, I taped around the frames then used a @unipro_aus mini roller with my controversial technique of dragging it along the grooves purists recommend cutting in with a brush, but this is quicker and... doesn't leave marks. To install the tracks, I cut them to fit with a hacksaw (do this outside) and secured them with white button-head screws, which looked nice but didn't work because they protruded. So I changed to regular timber ones. TIP You need to drill the holes for the screws using a 4-5mm bit. To add the doors, I retracted the wheels at the back by loosening the adjusting screws, then lifted them up into the top track. I readjusted the screws to make sure the doors were straight and moved smoothly. So happy with the result! See how the project came together and pick up more DIY tricks via my link in bio. See more

13.01.2022 BEFORE & AFTER I made this table from 100 year-old floorboards. It was positioned outside in direct sun and rain for a couple of years and while it's structurally in good nick the timber had weathered. It took some elbow grease to DIY but the results are amazing! Watch how I did it via my link in bio or find the how-to steps in the September @bunnings magazine.

13.01.2022 TIMBER REVIVAL Restoring my outdoor table took just three simple steps... 1 SAND to remove old varnish using a @ryobiau random orbital sander with rough 60- and 120-grit abrasive discs 2 SCRUB to wash away mould build-up using a deck cleaner, leaving to dry 3 VARNISH to seal and protect with a tough product like @monocel.timbercare Gold which is designed for boats See how I did it via my link in bio or find it in the September @bunnings magazine.

12.01.2022 WINTER DIY I love the dramatic finish of this six-bottle wine rack. To DIY, take a small sheet of 12mm-thick plywood and a 92mm-diameter hole saw to make the circle cutouts. Sand then seal with @monocel.timbercare varnish in black to protect from moisture while giving a dark and dashing finish. Just add lovely matt black hinges and rope detailClick through my link in bio for the how-to steps and the cute video. @ Little Red Industries

12.01.2022 If you’re entering the @ryobiau ONE+ battery challenge, how will you film the 6-second video? My second effort was this one... But stay tuned for the first-time blooper, it may have ended in tears (not mine!)...

12.01.2022 BIGGEST DIY PROJECT YET! Time to take this outdoor area to the next level and I can't wait to install the modular @goodtimesdecking system. Swipe to see the evolution of the space, which began without a proper laundry wall. I knocked out a window, built a wall, installed a door... Click through my link in bio to see how I built the shower.

12.01.2022 'IS IT BIN DAY?' A common household question often delivered with a scrunched nose The whiff of a wheelie bin is the least-appealing smell of summer, so I researched some tips for keeping them off the olfactory radar. If you're the Bin Bringer-Inner, check them out via the story I wrote for this month's @bunnings magazine via the link in my bio. #wheelieclean

11.01.2022 BEFORE & AFTER Goodbye bulky, rusty old burner. Hello elegantly hot new @scandia_australia Edge50 radiant indoor wood heater! I even designed the DIY tiled hearth to show off that lovely mid-century shapeThere are a lot of changes to this area in my living room. Can you spot the difference? HINT: See how I knocked out the wall via link in my bio. @ Little Red Industries

10.01.2022 Here's a cute way of reusing everyday household items to make Xmas planters Cut spare takeaway chopsticks to match the height of a clean paint tin then attach with @selleys Liquid Nails. Swipe to see how I also upcycled an old chopping board. Published in this month’s DARE magazine To make a bigger timber planter, click through my link in bio for DIY steps to make one with mid-century style.

09.01.2022 ... and then I built a deck! The modular @goodtimesdecking system is so well put together that it takes just one weekend and there’s no concreting or tricky posts to install. Love it

09.01.2022 BEFORE-THE-BEFORE When we bought our coastal Aussie home a few years ago, this tiny bedroom boasted a bright canary-yellow colour choice. It hurt my eyes and was the first to be painted. Swipe to see how bright it is! BEFORE After many coats, that acidic mistake eventually receded and I added an upcycled rattan cabinet to make it more functional. But the configuration still didn't feel right so I decided to do some demolishing and move the door Click through my link in bio to see how I knocked out the wall to reconfigure the entry, and stay tuned for the transformation of the smallest-but-best room in the house!

08.01.2022 LAST-MINUTE XMAS DIY This table-top rack holds six bottles and the dramatic noir finish of the @monocel.timbercare black varnish protects the plywood from moisture damage. TOOL TIP You’ll need a 92mm-diameter @suttontools holesaw to make the circle cutouts make sure you also buy an arbour, which is the drill bit that goes through the centre. Click through my link in bio for the how-to instructions and a cute video.

08.01.2022 DIY PAVING This landscaping project is so simple just add water! To DIY, seal the pavers with @bondall.au natural-look sealer, mix up quick-set concrete with gravel, use a watering can to activate it, set out the pavers and plant the mondo grass Pick up more detailed instructions for this project I did for @bunnings magazine via my link in bio.

07.01.2022 It’s time to admit Xmas is on the way! To avoid over-tinselling, here’s a cute #ikeahack that makes a sweet wreath replacement. Take one IKEA Frosta stool, @monocel.timbercare varnish in grey, 40mm screws and a @ryobiau drill, a Prestige cabinet knob, orange paint and customised eyelashes ...

06.01.2022 ... then I built a new wall! #myDIYreno The aim was to add a built-in @multistoresolutions wardrobe to a tiny bedroom without intruding on the space. Swipe to see how the floorplan of the adjacent dining area was unusually long and could easily lose about 800mm Click through my link in bio to see how I put in a new door jamb and built the wall framing. The inside of the robe is lined with easy-to-manoeuvre MDF sheets.

04.01.2022 DIY TIP If you're feeling the chill at home, do a quick check around your doors and windows to close the gaps on escaping heat. There are simple fixes just pick up the right product for a few dollars and take five minutes to improve your comfort level. I added a weather seal to my front door, sealed around a window and closed the gap between wall and floor. Follow the steps to DIY in the July @Bunnings magazine via my link in bio. @ Little Red Industries

04.01.2022 Concrete furniture is on trend but the real thing is super heavy and messy to DIY. Here’s a quick way to get a lovely smooth, finish without the hassle of mixing up cement. All you need is @monocel.timbercare varnish in grey and a @unipro_aus mini mohair roller to transform timber into something special DIY TIP Be patient with drying times and apply three coats.

03.01.2022 The how-to steps to build my little art-deco coffee table were published in April @bunnings magazine, so when the latest July issue came out I was flattered to see how readers had adapted the design for their own projects Click through my link in bio to see a cute video on how to DIY, including a simple way to cut circles with a jigsaw. @ Little Red Industries

03.01.2022 I designed this handy DIY caddy to be totally watertight for holding essentials beside an outdoor shower. To ensure it isn't damaged by moisture and UV, I've used @porta_timber hardwoods with galvanised fasteners, a good @bondall.au adhesive and sealed it all over with a couple of coats of @monocel.timbercare Gold clear boat varnish. I've left it outside for six months (made for a Mother's Day giveaway earlier this year) and it's passed the test! Make your own by following the DIY instructions via my link in bio.

02.01.2022 Before making my tiled hearth I checked the heater manufacturer's guide @scandia_australia to ensure it is the right size to safely meet building codes To DIY, I used tile adhesive to lay @decor8_tiles subways onto fire-retardant @jameshardieau underlay, and applied a ready-mix silvery-coloured grout (check out how I use a clamp to squeeze the bottle!). Then I finished with @bondall.au Betta Tilecare grout sealer using the very cool applicator. The hearth is framed in @porta_timber Tasmanian oak edging to prevent chipping and, after installing with the lovely Scandia Edge 50 heater, I lay new burn-resistant laminate flooring in Palomino oak from @bunnings Watch the video via the link my in bio. @ Little Red Industries

01.01.2022 TAKE ONE PANEL... and customise a planter All you need is a 1200mm x 300mm panel for $22 from @bunnings add tapered legs and seal it is @monocel.timbercare varnish to protect from moisture damage. Makes a cute gift! Click through my link in bio for the how-to instructions.

Swipe to see how I personalised a flatpack @multistoresolutions system by... swapping out the handles for timber @lanedoorfurniture postbox ones to add midcentury warmth. installing a vanity top cut from a @bunnings hardwood panel to cover where the units join. using the hat shelf to create hidden storage th...at's just right for a small suitcase. choosing VJ sliding doors and painting them in @porterspaints Popcorn, the same as the walls, to make the small room feel streamlined and adding a lovely glow. 01.01.2022 How do you restore outdoor timber in three simple steps? Just sand, scrub and seal in a trusty varnish like @bondall.au Monocel Gold (designed to be used in boats, so you know it’ll last the distance) See my full instructions in the September @bunnings magazine.
