20.01.2022 Happy New Year! I’m hoping for a beautiful beginning that will emerge from the goals I’ve set for my year ahead. From what was a year, I’m sure that will not be spoken of, but one we will teach on from what we have learnt. One for me is kindness, our happiness, family, my FDC village, our community and our wellbeing! I can’t wait to begin our year of intentional teaching, child interests and family goals! This year will also see renovations happen, as we recover from the sto...rm that tore through our community, new flooring which we planned while I was recovering from surgery... out with the old and in with the new, new intentions new beginnings and hope! Peace, love and hope is the key! Stay safe and make good choices! #choicesfamilydaycare #myfamilydaycare #bringon2021 #earlychildhoodeducator #LTFDC2021

17.01.2022 Mr nearly three loved our maths learning moment yesterday... As he measured, weighed, calculated each scoop to be enough to fill his jug, not only did we engage through the circle of security I guided him with each scoop as I counted them to see how many will it take to fill it up! The light filled his eyes as we finished at 9!!!! Lifting it up and tipping it out only to say again inviting me to join him in the next exploration of experimenting with volume! With the use of ...The Phoenix Cups, he is using his Mastery cup filling it to the brim as he masters his fine motor, perception, cognitive and social skills all in one! #ltfdc2021 #myfamiliydaycare #myfamilydaycarespaces #familydaycareaustralia #earlychildhoodeducator #reflectionsofaneducator #phoenixcups #earlychildhoodaustralia #choicesfamilydaycare

16.01.2022 When you head outside for the first time for the week, and they stop at the end of the path, take it in and they are off exploring! This is what I love about our spaces, my job, my love of teaching!!!! Here where play is so important, it’s serious business, it’s the moment of important learning via their own interest, by my intention sometimes! This is early childhood!!! #ltfdc2021... #myfamiliydaycare #myfamilydaycarespaces #choicesfamilydaycare #familydaycareaustralia #earlychildhoodaustralia #earlychildhoodeducator See more

15.01.2022 Our spaces this week have had a lill tweak and revise, plus a couple new resources have snuck in too! I absolutely love Kmart Australia !!! They have so many new wooden toys and learning resources that my bank has said yes you can have them and hubby well we also know that story . If you’re like me your brain is always switched on to see all the endless possibilities to be had! Plus Kmart has all these at reasonable prices that we can afford to buy a more than one to allow o...ur children equal opportunities. Plus too I love the new Anko Education range too! My goodness I wish half this was here when my children were little! #myfamiliydaycare #myfamilydaycarespaces #choicesfamilydaycare #reflectionsofaneducator #ltfdc2021 #familydaycareaustralia #earlychildhoodaustralia #earlychildhoodeducator #qip

12.01.2022 Today marks our ninth year! How proud I am is an understatement! Over this time I have cared, taught and loved each and every babe that has walked through my doors and into my home. This year I have welcomed my 33rd child into our village!!!! To say it takes a village to raise a child, I too have created our own village! And our village is amazing, gosh I love them! ... From my first work experience in high school to volunteering afternoons and school holidays, going to TAFE, working in long daycare many years ago to now family daycare and also a student at uni! I am so proud of the journey I have walked. It certainly hasn’t been easy, I am sure you all will agree! But it’s been definitely not easy, I’ve cried, thought I was done (so many times), I’ve lost and lost hard, to the most awarding moments!!!!! These always outweigh the hard times! I’m lucky enough to know what I want now, who I am-as a Early Childhood Educator. So here’s my lill recipe: It’s so important we install the same drive into our children; 1) choose happiness without it it’s not worth being, 2) do something you love without it we cannot grow, 3) and at the end of the day surround yourself with people who choose you! With the right mix, life will be wonderful, those hard times will be hard but remember to ask yourself what is this trying to teach or ask of me?... they are important to have too, however the light isn’t far! And finally I love my job not many can say this and when you finally find something you love doing stay with that! I can’t wait to see where our year leads but we have got this!!!! #myfamilydaycare #reflectionsofaneducator #choicesfamilydaycare #familydaycareaustralia #earlychildhoodaustralia #earlychildhoodeducator #ltfdc2021

11.01.2022 Nothing like a new year, new beginnings and a refresh after our holiday break. Found this beautiful book The River which sparked my beginning of our learning journey this year, learning about our river and also bring some sustainability into our learning. I found this book at Kmart Australia. Numbers and colours are always a child interest before holidays, extending and developing our understanding in greater depth. With new number puzzle, counters, tweezers, colour paddle...s all from Kmart. Our Yarn circle is always centred around embedding our Aboriginal teachings, sensory weather jars, Aboriginal culture play space and story books Welcome to Country and Finding our hearts, both books I found again my favourite place Kmart. We also have Chinese New Year coming up so home corner has seen some new items added adding to our cultural diversity among our families but also our understanding of the world around us. This purchase was from Modern Teaching Aids. Our Miniland Dolls have settled in well in our play space, as well as new baby clothes to extend our role play, purchased from Ed Resources. Oh and the little chalkboards seen in some of these spaces are from Kmart too, in the party section. #ltfdc2021 #choicesfamilydaycare #myfamilydaycare #familydaycarespaces #esreproductions #qip #earlychildhoodeducator #earlychildhoodaustralia

11.01.2022 Our feelings space at the front door has been a huge hit yesterday! Miss 2 loved it and made herself a happy face, as I asked her how she was feeling today I’m happy Neil! She replies! #ltfdc2021 #choicesfamilydaycare #myfamilydaycarespaces... #choicesfamilydaycare #familydaycareaustralia #myfamiliydaycare #earlychildhoodeducator See more

09.01.2022 Who loves Kmart? We love Kmart! In the party section they have these plastic jars! Only a few dollars and many endless resource possibilities... I’ve made some Aboriginal Wearger symbols in the passed but needed to make a couple more due to wear and tear... so I updated using my Cricut! And love how they have turned out! A couple hours of designing, cutting and sticking and they look amazing!

07.01.2022 It’s been a Cricut playing, cutting, sticking kind of day! Hubby was out checking crab pots and I was literally the only one home... starting the year with a head start on a few things! Kindy room is ready to play, just needing to tidy up little spaces. So I designed this to take down the poster on the wall. This is removable vinyl so it can be removed. But love how it has turned out, a couple hours drawing and designing has been well worth it!

06.01.2022 Updating the colour jars! Adding vinyl stickers that correspond to the colour associated has been something I’ve been meaning to do! Again a couple hours on hour to limit the amount of vinyl used and not wasting too much! So happy with these too!

05.01.2022 Who here has heard of The Phoenix Cups? If you haven’t check them out!!! You need to check them out!!!!!! Sandi Phoenix always says you can’t pour from an empty cup... And she is so right!!! We all have five cups all varying in different individual needs... these cards help me each day reflect on my cup needs but also when also putting them into practice with my children I teach. In early childhood our cups are more pronounced I feel, emotions are high, focused learning from our safety cup to our mastery cup they use them all. They also help myself decipher behavioural needs too! No all behaviour is bad, it’s what we need to dig deeper to understand more, after all not they are still trying to work out how everything works in our world and if they need to do it 20 times to make the connections insist better to work alongside of them and guide them instead of looking at it being a behavioural aspect... but a learning one instead. Check out The Phoenix Cups and also did I mention there are many professional developments that might fill your mastery cup today! #phoenixcups #reflectionsofaneducator #myfamiliydaycare #myfamilydaycarespaces #reflectionsofaneducator #choicesfamilydaycare #familydaycareaustralia #earlychildhoodaustralia #qip #earlychildhoodeducator #ltfdc2021
