19.01.2022 Were pleased to report that our nappy storage area is currently packed to the rafters with nappies thanks to funds we received from a Lotterywest Crisis & Emergency Relief grant. Were extremely fortunate in Western Australia to have the only lottery in the nation, and one of the few in the world, where all the profits are returned back to the community. Its thanks to the people who play Lotterywest games and the small businesses that sell them that we were awarded this am...azing grant, which will allow us to assist many more WA families in need. Thanks also to the wonderful team at Thankyou for providing nappies and wipes to us at a hugely discounted rate! Warm fuzzies all round #lotterywest

09.01.2022 This week marks the 15th annual PANDA (Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Australia) Week. In 2020, more than ever, PANDA want expecting and new parents who are struggling with their mental health to know they’re not alone and can reach out for help. And when they do, they will be supported by those they confide in and the health system that surrounds them. Left untreated, perinatal anxiety and depression can have long-lasting impacts on parents, partners, baby and the rest of t...he family. The key to getting help is being able to recognise that something is wrong and being brave enough to ask for help to ‘tell someone who cares’. That might be talking to your partner, child and family health nurse, doctor or PANDA’s National Helpline (1300 726 306). For information and support, please visit the PANDA Week website. http://panda.org.au/awareness/panda-week

06.01.2022 Let a WA mother know you’re thinking of her this Mother's Day. She might be living in a refuge, she may have lost her job due to COVID-19 or she might be homeless. You can help her feel supported this Mother’s Day with One Mother to Another. It's easy to show a mum you care... just follow these simple steps. 1) Make up a gift bag of women’s toiletries. Choose a nice toiletry or drawstring bag and fill it with everything you would need if you had nothing. Some ideas include ...a toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, hair ties, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, tampons/pads, sunscreen, body and face moisturiser, cleanser, tissues, deodorant, band aids or a basic first aid kit. 2) Include a note or a card to let the recipient know you care. 3) Drop your bag to the office of David Michael MLA (Suite 3/36 Cedric St, Stirling) or to the office of Yaz Mubarakai MLA (Suite 11, The Professional Centre - corner South Street and Calley Drive, Leeming) during business hours before COB on Thursday April 29. Your gift might be the only one she receives and will be an important reminder that her local community cares about her and her newborn child. Some stays will last for only a few hours, some for many months, even a year. Their families lives will be thrown into turmoil, some will relocate from regional ar...eas indefinitely. No matter the length of time in a Neonatal Unit this simply isn’t the start to life anyone imagined. The long term impact and ripple effect is felt far and wide, and for many years to come."
