Don’t sit back and leave it for another, ghat other is sitting back and waiting for you to do something.. This is why it is still happening.

19.01.2022 An update on Dusty and Eve, he is half her size now but still depended on her and the occasional feed of milk. He is definitely not as naughty now so I think Eve is happy to have him around as company

16.01.2022 Happy Easter to all our friends from all of us at Little Urchins. We’ve had a beautiful Easter weekend of stunning sunshine; Flossie & Lillie-aka Piglet-have been venturing out, exploring the sanctuary; they’re getting so much more adventurous. Kat’s recovery from surgery is going well; 3 days indoors almost too much so today she was allowed out on limited duties. Still trying hard to contain her. ... We are so grateful for Joanne O'Neill and her daughter Lauren who came to help for both days over the weekend; they made such a huge difference & it’s always such a pleasure sharing this experience as a team. And to Frank-my partner-who put together our browsholders, thankyou for tolerating my constant absence & helping out with yet another project. Life in Reedy Creek with many roos in care is more than a full-time gig with a great team of volunteers working 7 days. If you’d like to support the work we do in the rescue, love, rehabilitation & release of our wildlife, we greatly appreciate your contribution. Much & . 12.01.2022 Last year we rescued a cockatoo who had bruised chest muscles he was in care for about 3 weeks. He was released back to the wild, after a few weeks he started returning and bringing two of his mates with him. This is him landing on my fly screen and peering inside.

09.01.2022 These two swamp wallaby joeys named Buttercup and Blossom came into care just over a week ago, they are from seperate rescues but they were instantly obsessed with each other. They’re slowly gaining their confidence and it won’t be long until they’ll be bouncing off the walls

07.01.2022 Kylo being cheeky

06.01.2022 Shooting a mother and smashing her baby’s head in is sanctioned by this Government. In fact, it’s just a ‘days work’ in the Australian kangaroo industry. This i...s the largest commercial land-based wildlife massacre in the world, and kangaroos are being shot while their joeys are bludgeoned to death. This is why a bill to ban the trade of kangaroo parts has now been introduced into US Congress. As an Australian MP I applaud Congressman Salud Carbajal and Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick for taking action to protect kangaroos. Thank-you for caring for our wildlife where our own Government is failing. Australians hate animal cruelty and we stand with you.

06.01.2022 Favourite time of the day is when everyone comes down for dinner, although they make a lovely mess for the next days clean up, at least they have fun

01.01.2022 URGENT- PLEASE TAKE ACTION! Last night, our volunteers in Cairns were lucky enough to witness (and film) a Spectacled Flying Fox giving birth at the well-known... 'maternity tree' at the Cairns Library. The @Cairns Regional Council and the @Queensland Environment Department have denied that the Spectacled Flying Foxes are continuing to use these trees for roosting, birthing and pup rearing. Yet at 8pm last night, this mother chose this tree to deliver her pup. Natural instinct is powerful and cannot easily be reversed. But from 4am this morning, council workers scared her away with lights and loud noises. We are unsure about the fate of the pup. This continued dispersal is having dire consequences on the entire species. Local carers are report much higher numbers of deaths for the region as a whole, compared to previous years. These endangered animals are being let down at every level of government. We are now appealing to the Director General at Department of Environment and Science to take immediate and urgent action to protect this species from further irreversible damage.
