12.01.2022 Our Lime Tree is looking very sad. It clearly is not feeling the love. So I decided to upgrade its living quarters and built it a very water wise user friendly wicking tree planter. Using WaterUps wicking cells it could not be easier to build a wicking planter. Better yet we can neglect our tree for some time and let the wicking bed keep the correct soil moisture level for weeks at a time. I will keep you updated to see if it as been too much for the tree or see if it thrives. 12.01.2022 New raised wicking planters on the move complete with wheels. This was a special order for a special client. I had a request from a cattle station in Broome for 2 planters 1200mm long on wheels. This way they could move the planters depending on the season as well as protect them in case of cyclones. These wicking planters were made here in Perth and sent to Broome and now have fresh herbs and veggies starting to grow for the homestead. The old passionfruit plant has passed its use by date so the new plan is to build a WaterUps wicking bed for a new passionfruit to live in and add some nice leafy greens for chooks to graze on. I will cover the bed with aviary mesh to protect the plants from the chickens and at the same time the girls will fertilize the garden bed. 06.01.2022 Our Nectarine tree is looking good. This is only our third season with this tree. Last year not so good but so far so good this year. Not planted in one of our wicking planters but planted in our chook yard. We place bricks around the base of the tree to help stop the girls scratching too deep damaging the tree roots. I will be fitting a net over the whole tree to stop the birds getting to their fruit before we do.

01.01.2022 Lime tree update. My lime tree has now been living in it’s new timber WaterUps wicking planter for about 2 months. Happy to report that the leaves have stopped going yellow but the best news is the tree is now covered in flower buds. We are now on track for a decent crop of limes.
