22.01.2022 Throughout this week at little wallabies we have been exploring Christmas and engaging in a variety of activities. The Joeys have been engaging their senses as they explore and experiment with different christmas decorations. Including our bauble basket and christmas decorations painting. The wallabies have been learning about different christmas items starting off with christmas crackers. To began their investigating they stared with the book "Slinky Malinki's Christmas Crac...kers" by Lynley Dodd. Exploring what they are, how at use them and getting to try one. The kangaroos have been engaging their skills & processes of problem solving and experimentation with the tessellating shape blocks. Using different christmas themed pattern boards we were able to make many christmas shapes including christmas trees, wreaths and snow men. What's your favourite part of christmas?

14.01.2022 Today the Kangaroos have been working on their mathamatic skills. Both groups did different versions of number bingo. The older children had to count the number of an object on a card held by Miss Suzanne and then working in pairs match it to their bingo sheets. The younger children picked a card with different numbered dots on it and used the transport counters to put the same amount of counters as dots onto the cards using tongs to help develop their fine motor skills.

12.01.2022 Today the Joeys have been busy doing some sensory paintings. First we used shaving cream and food dye to create some colourful paintings. The children used a spoon and their hands to mix all the colours together. Next we put blobs of paint on some paper in a tray and put some marbles on top. As the paint went into the tray the children named the different colours, red blue and yellow. The children then shook the tray and watches as the marbles made patterns in the paint.
