12.01.2022 EARTH DAY What does Earth Day mean to you and what could you do to get your children involved? ... This Earth Day we talked to our kids about how we can protect our environment by keeping it clean and healthy! Our Children are the future, if there’s anyone who can make a difference and taking steps towards positive change and conservation is our children! So what could you do to teach your children about Earth Day? The best and most interactive way is to spend time in nature! We wrote a whole blog on our play date with Mother Nature! One of the most fun activities we did was picking up rubbish we came across while we walked around the beautiful lake! Our friends at Soundsations have created the most beautiful Nature Play Prompts that encourage mindfulness and the love for the outdoors! Read books There are some wonderful books about how the planet sustains and nurtures us. Our favourite is ‘The Giving Tree’ by Shel Silverstein or as your local library for some recommendations! And if you have a favourite book, don’t forget to share it with us!! Lead by example and show them that the simple act of turning of the lights or a dripping tap makes a huge difference in energy and water conservation! Get involved with the family in community organised cleaning drives! Don’t be afraid to be the one who takes the initiative to organise one, even if it’s a small one at your school or even start with your own street or local park! Recycle as much as you can! Think about what you’re buying and if it can be recycled when you’re done or if there’s a more environmentally friendly version of the same product! Example Eco Glitter (check out a beautiful range stocked @soundsations_qld) instead of regular glitter! 08.01.2022 The digital epidemic is real and so are the benefits of unplugging once in a while! Especially when your kids, yes my 5yo’ says, ‘Mum look at me not your phone’! Did it make me feel like a bad Mum? Did pangs of guilt paralyse me for the rest of the day? HELL.YES.... When one aspect of your life starts to take over your entire life, the universe sends you a warning that’s as clear as a neon sign on a dark night. I got mine over the weekend and then then again last night (strike 2), ..when my toddler fell off the couch awkwardly on his neck, head first, as I watched in slow motion. In horror. With my phone in my hand! He’s fine, but I’ll never be the same! So yes Universe, I am listening and I got the memo. BE PRESENT. LIVE IN THE MOMENT. AND UNPLUG EVERYDAY, EVEN FOR A LITTLE WHILE.

Mine are simple: I am pretty open minded, but if you homeschool solely based on problems like bullying, what about the children in their adolescent years or when they head to university and when they join the workforce? - What about resilience? ... - What about social skills? - What about conflict management/resolution skills? - What about teaching them Self Control? - What about problem solving? Is sheltering them the answer? I don’t think so..
